I have 3 Excel files open. There's one unnamed file that I can open in the background with no problem. Then I have 2 data files. I'd like to be able to view them both at the same time, side by side, but for some reason I cant. They both seem to occupy the same window. Every time I goto the task bar and try switching windows they occupy each other's window. Is there a way to view files side by side?
Excel 2007 - need to adjust protected view settings but the protected view tab is missing from my Trust Centre settings - have the following tabs - trusted publisher / location, add-ins, activeX, macro, message bar, external content and privacy options. Document is a revenue authority download and without being able to adjust the protected view settings, can't input data.
I have four to five screens being displayed. After 10 hours the screens time out and go into password protection mode.
Is there a way to send a refresh to each of these IE windows to keep them from going into password mode.
They are being watch and security in not the problem. The hours spent logging back into four to five screens are getting really old and time consuming.
I also have MS vb express that I can use but would rather use excel.
1, Is it wise to have a continuous looping file like this as on some computers when this file is run it sounds like the computer is going to take off?!? (having said this it will only be ran on one computer that will never be used for anything else while the program is running)
Well - all thats happening is that the Excel workbook is hogging essential system resources - i.e. memory and CPU time and extra continuous CPU load is causing the machine to heat up which switches on the Fan.... be thankful the Fan is working
I didnt do a code walkthrough to see if there was a more efficient way of doing it, but if the machine isnt being used by anthing else, and it is in a well ventilated area (Air Con?) then I wouldnt see this as being a big problem. Just make sure the fan doesnt break down or you might have some sparks.
2, Could this be done in a powerpoint presentation. e.g have an excel spreadsheet on each slide and automatically update the links every x mins. You could then just set the slide show to continuous loop.
Well, possibly yes... the idea is good, but as far as I know you would have to rewrite the code to work in PPT. That is - you cant just drop an excel sheet with code onto a PPT slide and expect it (The Excel code) to work... you would need to code each slide again. I think... Not sure how easy that would be as I know little about PPT.
The problem - there are multiple users, each one has its own excel file, but it has to be password protected. I assume there is a simple VBA script or something. I found something here - User name and password to open excel file . I guess I don't need it to be that complicated. I haven't gotten it to work yet, so I can't tell if it's what I need.
Also there is an Admin or whatever that has to view all of the users excel files in one excel file. Is this even possible?
Have a system that runs 8 monitors on one computer. 4 are very large screens. Creates a lot of heat and uses much power.
Is there a way to dim the screens brightness in VBA. Looked all over and can't find any code.
Not really looking for a screensaver as they can cause interrup problems etc if I have programs running for hours. And I can't just turn off some screens as then desktop icons placements get scrambled.
Just want to dim screens with a macro, then undim it. Don't need to have it linked to the mouse movement, but that might be nice too.
I tried a macro that said "Dim MyScreens" but nothing happened.
I have MS Office 2010 Home Edition. Is there a way to make 2 different Excel docs show up on 2 different monitors at the same time (one on each, of course)? (I have a PC and 2 displays total.)
What i am trying to do: Create a login option to filter what worksheets each user can see. I need the users to be able to view 2 sheets not just 1. Also i need an admin login that can view all sheets. I want to keep the workbook protected so even though they can see and edit those two sheets they can only edit certain unlocked cells. Admin should be able to view/edit all cells on all sheets.
Below is my code which is made for a sample workbook. I was just trying to get the concept down and then i would convert it to the real workbook.
I have got a table, with a range B1:CC200. I have been able to run a macro which pops up a form and shows the particulars of a selected month corresponding to those in the table. (e.g., say entries in column D pertaining to say, March 2012 are shown in the form). Problem is I want to be able to update the entries using the form, but no no success. Am quite new to vba but the code I tried to use on the command button after updating is shown below
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() TextBox1.Value = Application.Lookup(Range("A1"), Range("B1:CC200"), Range("B2:CC2")) TextBox2.Value = Application.Lookup(Range("A1"), Range("B1:CC200"), Range("B3:CC3")) . . . TextBox20.Value = Application.Lookup(Range("A1"), Range("B1:CC200"), Range("B20:CC20")) Unload Me End Sub
Where A1 is the month in question, B1:CC200 the range of the database and row B2:CC2, and B3:CC3...., B20:CC20the data I need to update. .
I believe that someone showed me once that you could view the same workbook on two monitors with the vien arrange all mode, you could make changes on both screens and the changes would be saved to the same file similar to arranging two views. I cannot rememebr how to do this or even if it is possible.
I have a large spreadsheet from which I need to create separate Reports by hiding various rows and columns. I have followed instructions for creating a couple of Custom Views (View tab, Custom Views, Add, Inserted Name, OK, Saved the document) but nothing happens apart from getting the message "Some view settings could not be applied". In fact none of the view settings were applied.
How can I view hidden characters inside an excel cell. I have an excel file that I receive from our vendors. After verifying the data, I save the file as a tab delimited .txt format. When I open the .txt file I see some data with " " at both ends. i.e. "800 North Ave. Suite A". The thing is I don't see the " " in excel. This tells me that these are non-printing characters.
what I would like to do is view a cell result in my userform with out deleting my formula
It works perfect from the excel side but I just cant get it right from the user form side
Ok so cell D6 contains a vlookup formula. I want the vlookup result to appear in my userform. I can get this to work but it overrides the vlookup formula with the result. This means that when I go to use it again it just shows the same result. This is what I have:
Cell D8 has a Combobox with a list of names to select from
this is the formula in cell D6 =VLOOKUP(D8,B107:I754,2,FALSE) This retrieves the selected customers account number from the combobox. I need my userform to display the account number with out erasing the formulas because I will need to search for more account numbers after.
I have named the textbox in my userform Customeraccountb
In an effort to manipulate the xml documents within an xls, you used to be able to change the extension to .zip then open. This no longer works for me, just getting the 'cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive.
I have tried it with a number of different files, but no joy.
It still works with a .doc so I guess it's not that Microsoft have stopped this capability?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have a workbook with only 1 worksheet in it and it will be sent to several people. I want that excel file to open in Full View when the end user opens it. Is this possible without any VBA codes?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have a spread sheet with sales data covering 3 years and multiple customers. I was able to create formulas such as this to calculate the figures for the entire sheet (all customers) by year.
I believe that in order to use filters that show this date for a specific customer I need to convert this to a SUMPRODUCT formula, I've tried this multiple times and had no luck.
I have Excel 2002 and when I click on "Help" I would like to get the "classic" Microsoft excel Help facility, with tabs for "Search," "Index", and so on. Instead I get a screen with subject headings "What's New," "Microsoft Office Website," and "Getting Help". Is there a way to get the classic, old-fashioned
I would like a macro to be able to save 26 tabs within the one document to individual PDFs.Preferably I would like to be able to specify each time exactly which tabs get printed, because often I don't need to print all 26, just the first 10 or so.I would like each PDF to automatically be named with the value in cell E10 of each tab.E10 already has a formula to create its final value. It references cells from other tabs within the same document. Hopefully the fact that this cell has a formula in it won't affect my ability to use the resulting value as a 'save as' reference?I would like it if the PDFs save to the same location as the Excel sheet from which they're generated is located. The location of the excel sheet will change every three months, so I'd prefer not to specify a location with a specific filepath, as it will have changed by the time I run the macro again.
I am using MS Office 2010. I want to count---on multiple sheets---the number of times that a given cell is greater than another cell if and only if a third cell is equal to a given value. I want to do this for 4 sets of data on each sheet. I thought I had it figured out with this formula---
but it returns a value of zero each time. Clearly there is an error in the formula.
Here is some background: -- $H$1:$H$43 is a block of cells that has the names of the sheets in the workbook -- E1 and F1, G1 and H1, I1 and J1, K1 and L1 are the four groups of cells that I am comparing. In the entire workbook, I want to add 1 (counting function) only when: R1=2 AND E1>F1 or S1=2 AND G1>H1 or T1=2 AND I1>J1 U1=2 and K1>L1 on each appropriate sheet in the workbook.
I have an Excel Spreadsheet (2007) that contains over 500,000 records that shows Electric meter usage per month over a 24 month period per meter. What I want to be able to do is to select a meter row per number and copy is to it's own worksheet. At the end - I want to be able to have a seperate worksheet per electric meter number - that I can create a graph. If I go through all 9000 meters and copy and paste into a different worksheet - it will take me weeks to do manually. How can I do this automatically?
I want to to copy selected columns of sales data into rows organized by salesperson. I have just started out with VBA and find that I cannot do it myself.
My original data are in the form of the following:
invoice_no product sales qty total
[Code] .....
I want to display the data in another sheet in the following format:
I need to convert data from column IDS into separate rows, all other columns need to stay in tact. There are several distinct patterns for the IDS column, main identifiers are always starting with FILER or TEAL and the trailing numbers behind it have no more than 6 digits.
I have 8 different files all have a set of data in them
each one has a long list of (column a-n) however the number of rows change by date. I need each file copied into the finalfile.xls one after another. in the files that will be merged into the final file the final row i need copied is blank. I have all the copy formulas and everything set, I just need a range to copy that automaticaly takes cell a10 to the first blank a cell from each file and pastes it in the finalfile.xls under the last paste so they dont over write each other.
I have saved this on a 2010 workbook as I am at home but this will be used on a 2003 workbook.
I have several projects on one spreadsheet which multiple users will be working and I am trying to create a summary sheet of the work carried out.
Each user is expected to carry out a task on each row of the data held in each worksheet (research, call, update etc) and each task (Option 1-5) is assigned a value. Each user is expected to meet a certain level of points per day to calculate productivity.
I am looking for a sumproduct along the lines of the summary sheet attached but mine just takes one sheet into consideration and I need one for all sheets.
I have attached a test workbook excel 2010 (ignore ref# errors, I've cut the workbook down for uploading purposes) What I would like to do is have a 'Button' on my 'information Sheet' which when clicked would clear certain cells. I have searched the forum but can't find a solution, everyone seems to want to delete rows or columns but I just want to clear certain cells. The workbook will have 11 sheets each named 'caravan 1' through to 'caravan 11' The uploaded test workbook only only has 3 sheets.
On 'caravan 1' (which is slightly different to the other 10) I want to clear the content of cells
On all other 'Caravan sheets' I want to clear the contents of cells
D4 & D5 E4, E5, E22, E23, E41 & E42
It would be icing on the cake if it could give a warning such as " are you sure you want to clear these cells" but that isn't really necessary. The worksheets will be password protected, but the cells mentioned above will not be. If it proves too difficult to clear all the cells on all the sheets with one click, then perhaps a simpler solution might be to have a button on each sheet instead
I have a Excel 2010 workbook used to rota in a large amount of staff for a call centre, which is split into four teams. Each sheet corresponds to a month of the calendar year eg Jan201, Feb 2014 etc..
What im trying to do is put in a sheet at the front of the workbook that I can select the team, which populates the list of staff in that team and then checking across a specified date range gives the shifts that those respective staff will be working for the set time period (probably be looking at a seven day period and a 1 month period). (This in turn will be printed out to give to the staff members.)
I have a column of cells with Customer info and address in each row, that I need to move into multiple columns. ie Cust name, acct #,address, city, state, zip the problem is ALL of the info for each customer is in ONE cell.To be clear, cell B1 has complete name address etc for one customer, B2 has the info for another, B3... on and on. To complicate matters as in the example, there is not a pattern in the lines. the first example shows the info beginning on the 2nd line of the cell, but the 2nd example shows info in the first line. I have tried the text to column fixed width. Didn't work because names and addresses are of varying lengths. Then I tried delimited, but there isn't a common separation between different data. I am using excel 2007. FYI I did go through many many threads and found some that were close to my problem but not close enough to work.
