Vlookup In Reverse To Pull Numbers Off An Array

I'm using the vlookup function to pull numbers off an array. Is there a way that I can get the vlookup function to pick the smallest number greater than or equal to my Look_up value. If not is there a function that can do that?

I have a column, call it E.
I have table, call it Cities. It has a column of, um, cities, but entered in various ways; and a column of regions:
South Cumberland SW
So. Cumberland SW
So. Cumb. SW
Cumberland SW
Galveston S
Rangeley NE
Galv S
If any one of the entries in Column 1 is contained in column E, I want my formula to return the appropriate region code for each row of E.
Note that E8 may or may not be an exact match for the table entry - it may have additional text before and/or after the match text. It may also not appear in the table at all.
I could contruct a whole sequence of "Find" formulae, but I'm thinking there has to be a better way. Also, if I find I need to add another city permutation, it's way easier - & less error-prone - to just extend the table than to create a whole new "Find" calculation column, and then add that column into the calculation that extracts the region.

I need to calculate a Sums of Products with unusual requirements. Please refer to the attached picture. The Orange Cells under "Noise Weight" are the Formula Cells. The Values in those Cells need to evaluate as shown in the equations below. I want this to be dynamic, so that if I expand the FM Region (Add Columns between "Noise Weight" and "FM15") AND expand the Severity Region (Add Rows between Severity and Noise Weight), I will not have to update Formulas manually. I know for sure that the standard SUMPRODUCT Function cannot handle this.
PRODUCT 1 = D29*E31 + D28*F31+D27*G31.....+D15*S31
PRODUCT 2 = D29*E32 + D28*F32+D27*G32.....+D15*S32
PRODUCT 3 = D29*E33 + D28*F33+D27*G33.....+D15*S33
...
....
PRODUCT 7 = D29*E37 + D28*F37+D27*G37.....+D15*S37

I have a dataset that looks like below -

Now, what i need to do is for each of the rows in my dataset, I need to find the reverse entries (consider first row where header 1 is 100 and header2 is 101, I need to search the entire dataset to find if I have some data for header1 is 101 and header2 is 100). In this case, I do have such data where header1 is 101 and header2 is 100.

I have a large table with data to which I want to retrieve a name to the left of a certain cell.
Clear as mud so far!
I've put together a small example of what I'm after. In cell F9 is the MAX of cells F2:F7. In cell H3 I then want a formula that will find the MAX of F2:F7 and return the text five rows to the left of that cell. In this example it would be Fred.
The second part of this question is how could I get it to display if more than one person had the same total....

I have a large block of numbers in a spreadsheet and I am wondering how I can look at the whole block and pull out the top five most common numbers. So perhaps the number 4 is repeated the most times, it would be number 1, number 18 might be repeated the second most number of times so it would be in the number 2 slot etc etc.

I have a Vlookup which I want to modify so that it can become dynamic as the table array part of the vlookup will change.
So the basic vlookup is as follows:
=VLOOKUP($R$3,ATTRIBUTION_FACTSET!$M$60:$P$73,2,0)
but the data I am looking for wont always be in the range M60:P73.
So I tried to make it dynamic by doing the following:
=VLOOKUP($R$3,INDIRECT("ATTRIBUTION_FACTSET"&"!M"&U1&":P"&V1),2,FALSE)
The idea being that U1 and V1 would be numbers that can change so in this case U1 would equal 60 and V1 would equal 73
This vlookup is giving me #N/A and no matter how I modify it I cannot get it to work.

I have a cell with a drop down box in C4. When 'Star' is selected, I would like C1 to show a picture of a star. When 'Moon' is selected in C4 I would like C1 to show a picture of a moon and so on.
I was just hoping I could do a simple IF formula or vLookup; but it just returns a 0. Are there any simple ways that I could get it to pull in the pictures?
For further information - there are 14 names I want to do this for (like star, moon etc). For my test I had the 14 names in columns and next to them the pictures.

But it find value from 1st column and return value from given relative column. That mean find from Left column and return value from right side given column number.

I'm using this formula to lookup data based on the lowest average.

The problem is that the minimum average is a two way tie, and I need to return both data sets. It just happens to have the same average.
I've tried using SMALL(array,1) and SMALL(array,2) in place of MIN above, but it gives me the same data set. I've also tried resizing using offset.

I am trying to pull data from one worksheet to another. I am using Product ID numbers. The problem I am having is that not every Product ID I am searching has a partner on the second list, so I get an #N/A. In stead of #N/A I just want a "0".
my vlookup looks like this: =IF(VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A5:C500,3)>0,VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A5:C500,3),"0"). If A1 does not find a match on Sheet2, it returns "#N/A" when I want it to return "0".

I have a "main data"Test.xlsx sheet wherein I have to populate 4 columns from 2 other sheets.
E.g.: In master data tab, I have (PID,EMP ID,Name,Address,Join Date, Exit Date). Now i am trying to get the PID & Address from another tab called "PID,Address". To get the PID & address, i will use EMP ID as reference to fetch data.
Similarly, I have to pull Join & Exit dates from the tab "Dates Sheet" with same EMP ID.
I have a home tab, wherein I have a button which is assigned a macro to reconcile the data.
I know that I can do this with simple vlookup for all the columns, but the actual data is very huge and it may vary daily. So its time consuming process. So i want to this reconciliation (consolidation) using macro. How to generate a macro.

I think VLookup is what I need to use, but am unfamiliar with how to use it. The attached file will explain a little more about what I would like to do. I have an inventory summary from 2007 and 2008. Each year has its own sheet. Each record has two fields that need to match on the summary sheet. If the two fields match, the summary sheet should return a total in the third field. It's more clearly explained in the file itself.

I have six files that are formatted the same(fld1-1.xlsx, fld1-2.xlsx...). Each file contains an I.D. number (random 25 digit number) in column A and a note (1-9) in column B. The only thing that changes between files is the note column. I want to pull from these six files into a master file. When all six files are combined the note column in the master file is complete, there are no duplicates. Because a blank vlookup returns a zero, could I use an IF formula. Something like IF VLOOKUP FROM data01(ISNUMBER(0), then vlookup in file data02. IF VLOOKUP FROM data02(ISNUMBER(0), then vlookup in file data03.

I am building a template for a report. The report resides on the first sheet of the workbook and the subsequent sheets is where the user would paste the appropriate reports so that the formulas on the first sheet can pull the appropriate data. I have all my formulas working fine with one exception.
The data in question needs to be pulled from the sheet "Paste Adcap Report Here" and the column is AA. The common piece of data between the two sheets is in column C of the Adcap sheet and column B of the main report sheet. What I need to do is conduct a vlookup between the report sheet and the Adcap sheet using the account id's and then return either the date value in row AA or the word ongoing which would be those accounts which do not have a preset end date. So far a co-worker had been able to come up with the following:
=If(VLOOKUP(B16, 'Paste Adcap Report Here'!C:AA,25,0) >0,"cap","ongoing")
The code is a bit screwy as she had to leave early. The problem we encountered was the entry in column AA for a non-ending campaign. It is represented by two hypens (--). This is what tied her up. we could not figure out why the formula was returning an #n/a instead of the term "ongoing" when it encountered the (--). Again, if the formula pulls a (--) then the word "ongoing" needs to be displayed and if the formula pulls an actual date value then it needs to display this date.

My Cells contain loads of text like this: ["16733:0:0"] = “Product ID”:1:1:0", now what i need is just the 16733 to be extracted into its own cell, and the Product ID to be extracted into the cell next to it... all other Text can be deleted. The problem is, pretty much the whole of the text changes in each line :-
["12345:0:0"] = “Product ID1”:1:1:0",
["49573:0:0"] = “Product ID23”:4:8:0",
["2649:0:0"] = “Product ID485”:18:23:0",
["9264:0:0"] = “Product ID0473”:2842:2341:0",
["54321:0:0"] = “Product ID85647”:99:199:0",
In the Numbered part of it (the bit I actually need), it would be either 4 or 5 digits long. Im guessing what I need to do is remove parts bit by bit, but for a novice user - Its proving a bit difficult!

I am trying to use a VLookup to pull a value out of a range and return my intended data. See attached spreadsheet. The data I'm pulling from is in the top chart. The bottom chart, in the factor column, is where I want the data to pull to. Ex) If the "Months of Development" column in the bottom chart =13, I want it to pull the factor value from the top chart where the month is 13. The problem is that the top chart has a range of values in the "Month Range" column of 13 - 24. I don't know how to get the VLookup to recognize this and pull the same factor into the chart below whether the value is 13 or 24. Maybe VLookup isn't the best option here.

I want to input numbers into a master sheet by having it referenced to a name. For example; I will be inputting a report on monthly sales, which contains a company name, and then a value. However, this report doesn't always necessarily contain all the companies listed on the master. I want to simply put this report on a page, and have the referencing pull the numebrs to the approriate company on the master page.
In the attachment - I want the numbers from Sheet 2 to be entered into their appropriate match in the Master sheet (sheet 1) - without copy and pasting (becuase in reality, I have 200+ company names and numers I'm dealing with).

I am working on a spreadsheet in Excel '07 that will pull data from online and reformat it in a way that another program can digest. The last thing I need is for excel to recognize if there is a 6 digit number in a specific column.
This is tricky for two reasons:
1. Numbers come in three different formats, ### ###, ######, and ###.###
2. Sometimes there is also text within the cell, however I need to pull out just the 6 digits, and place them in another cell with format ### ###

The title of this thread is the best way I can describe what I wish to accomplish. You see, I have a column of information requests in an Excel spreadsheet, each of which his tagged with an alphanumeric request number, and I wish to sort and/or perform and min/max function on the request identification. However, each ID has a IDR in front of it - for instance, IDR000452 - and the letters make the system read the contents as text. Does anyone know of a formula I can use to create a new cell which contains only the numerical contents of the above example?

I have a set of data in once cell and its strung out. I'm trying to pull the numbers that follow certain words from that data. That's easy enough with the find and mid function for the first one. But after that I have a repeating word (see below) and different numbers that follow it. So I want to pull the second number string after that word, the third and so on.
I've attached an excel file that explains this better.

In the example above, I would like to do a vlookup in column C that matches the digits in column A to those in column F, with the output being the corresponding value in column G. I believe it involves the left function but not sure how to really use it here.
