I want to filter my results using a combo box on my spreadsheet. I don't mind how this is done, even if it just hides all of the information which isn't relevant. I've done it with a VLookup but I want to be able to edit it easily without the formula popping up. So if you click Barlcays, only barclays appears. I'd also like a button to reset if possible. I've attached an example of how I sort of want it to work.
My goal is to be able to use a combo box on a userform to filter a spreadsheet. I need my users to select the dropdown arrow on the combobox, find the one value they need out of a list of about 50, and have the spreadsheet in the background filter based on that user selection. At this time my form has several checkboxes to filter the spreadsheet which works as expected but again, I think I need to use a combobox for this certain set of data in conjunction with the other checkboxes. Searching on the more obvious terms leads to lots of advice and code on how to filter results within a combobox, but not how to use a combobox to filter a spreadsheet.
I am in the process of making a database more efficient and am running into a problem with sorting data. I currently am trying to use AutoFilter to sort the data. When I want to then narrow the results further using the same column as the critical and there is nothing that matches the critical, I get everything from the entire database that matches that critical rather than what I want to see, which, in this case, would be nothing.
I have attached a sample file. In it, when All AF 1000 is run and then Selected MAC 2000 Wash is run, I want to see no results instead of seeing all MAC 2000 Washes from the original data set. I can do it using IF/THEN but I am looking for a faster way to do it.
I have a problem very similar to this thread: [URL] .... Therefore I have tried to adapt but so far failed.
My requirement is that a userform pops up with multiple comboboxes (in this scenario 3) and once the results have been selected and the user clicks the button "OK" then the autofilter changes to the same as what the selected ComboBoxes were.
So, there are 3 comboboxes so I have tried the following:
VB: [PrivateSub CommandButton1_Click()
Worksheets("Data").Activate If Sheets("Data").AutoFilterMode = True Then Range("B3", Range("B600").End(xlUp)).AutoFilter Range("B3", Range("B600").End(xlUp)).AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=ComboBox1.Value, visibledropdown:=False
i have this userform which has a combobox for a selection of months. beside it, i have this textbox which asks for the year. scenario: if i choose January in my combobox and i will type 2007 in my textbox, the combined entry will be January 2007 that will be saved in cell A1 of Sheet 2.
My data resides in a workbook in sheet2 and sheet3. I have 4 comboboxs refering to different columns in sheet2 and sheet3. Basically when the user selects all the four comboboxs, the criteria should be satisfied and the results in terms of rows matching those values should be shown in the textboxs below.
Each three of the textboxs refers to individual columns in sheet2 and sheet3. All I want to do is simple search criteria on both sheet 2 and sheet3 and put the results in textboxs.
I have populated my comboboxs but dont know the macro to do the search results .
my userform,which has 4 comboboxs
combobox1 = sheet2 column C combobox2 = sheet2 column BL combobox3 = sheet3 column K combobox1 = sheet3 column F
The results which satisfy the above 4 criteria should come from ,when user presses POP UP DETAILS BUTTON,
textbox1= sheet3 column C textbox2= sheet3 column N textbox3= sheet2 column T
Actually I have many records which satisfy the above 4 criteria, dont know how to display them whether in textbox or any another method.
I have a very large spreadsheet (almost 9000 rows). I have filters on all columns, however when I click to see all the results for the column under the filter, just to view the contents of the row, some are not there. Does a filter have a limitted amount of rows it can hold.
If my boss says, "give me a list of all flights going through New York," I have to manually filter for "New York" in the "Departs" column, copy that to another spreadsheet, then filter again for "New York" in the "Arrives" column, and manually glue the results together. In my little toy example, that's not a big deal, but when there are up to a couple hundred flights (and just as many cities), this gets tedious and error-prone.
Is there some handy way of filtering for "New York" in both the "Departs" and "Arrives" columns? Or some other way of achieving the same thing? ("Find All" isn't useful unless I can export the full rows into a spreadsheet.)
I have a basic spreadsheet with a column of names of people (Matt, John, Mike), and specific sales numbers for each. I would like to have a cell give an average of the sales numbers based on how I filter for either Matt, John, or Mike individually.
For example: If I filter to see only Matt, I would like to see the average for Matt only, and when I filter to another name such as John, I would like to see the average number change to see only John's.
I have 2 comboboxes on a userform. In combobox1 I have a list of years which is pre-populated. In combobox2 i have some data. What i'd like to do is to sort combobox2 using the year selected from combobox1.
I have tried this slightly modified code from a different project, but cant get it to work correctly. The code below autofilters, and selects the correct range, but will not populate the userform combobox... the highlighted row seems to be the problem:
Dim rngToCopy As Range With Sheets("Project") .AutoFilterMode = False .Range("B:B").AutoFilter field:=1, Criteria1:=ComboBox6.Value With .AutoFilter.Range On Error Resume Next Set rngToCopy = .Offset(1, -1).Resize(.Rows.Count - 1).Resize(, 3) On Error GoTo 0 If rngToCopy Is Nothing Then MsgBox "No projects currently set up for the selected season!...": Exit Sub End With rngToCopy.Copy Destination:=UserForm5.ComboBox2.List .AutoFilterMode = False End With
In my data, i'd like to return columns A, B and C.
using a command button to input data back into the spreadsheet at a specific location.
Background: I am building a time clock spreadsheet, of sorts. I have a user form that provides a list of volunteer names in a combobox and then a list of activities they can perform in another combobox. Some activities have Details. (So, VolunteerName Todd can choose Activity Maintenance, which has no details; Volunteer Joe can choose Activity Teaching and then can select Details Intermediate 2.) The volunteer then clicks a SignInCommandButton.
The SignInCommendButton populates a worksheet (VolunteerLog) with the following information:
Column A: Volunteer Name Column B: Today's Date Column H: Exact Time In Column E: Activity Column F: Details, if populated
The SignInCommandButton also copies a formula from cell L2 into the appropriate row of column C (Time In) that rounds the Exact Time In to the nearest 15 minutes. The SignInCommandButton then does a Copy/Paste Special Values to remove the formula from column C and then resets the Userform.
What I need to do:
1) When the person first selects their name from VolunteerNameComboBox, I want to check 3 things:
a) whether the person's name exists in Column A of the VolunteerLog worksheet;
b) if it does, if the Date associated with that entry = Today; and
c) if it does, if the Time Out column is Blank.
If all three conditions are met, I want the ActivityComboBox to populate with the values in Column E and F, if necessary. The user will then click the SignOutCommandButton. (details in a moment)
I already have the code for if the conditions aren't met (Activity box populates and, depending on the selection in the Activity box, the Details box may appear for a selection to be made, or may remain hidden.)
2) The SignOut Button needs to enter the Time into Column I of the appropriate row found in (1) above. It will also need to copy the rounding formula I mentioned earlier, and do the Paste Special, but I have that already.
For (1), I think I have a start. My thinking is to first check if the Name selected in VolunteerNameComboBox is in the VolunteerLog. Each time it shows up, I'd like to add it to a list (range?) called rngSignedInDate. Then I'd loop through all the entries in that range checking if the Date = Today. If it does, then I'd add it to a list called rngSignedOut and loop through those results to see if Column C (Time Out) is blank.
I think I have the first loop, but am stuck on how to populate the results into rngSignedInDate. Here is the code:
Code: Private Sub VolunteerNameComboBox_Change() 'Check if the Volunteer has signed in already Dim strVol As String Dim rngSignedInVol As Range Dim rngSignedInDate As Range Dim rngSignedOut As Range Dim rngSignedInActivity As Range Dim rngSignedInMatch As Range
(2) I haven't started working on the SignOutCommandButton. The challenge for me with that is directly tied to the challenge in (1). If someone does pass all 3 tests, I need to have that specific instance defined in a way that I can have the SignOutCommandButton put the time in the appropriate row.
A friend of mine asked if there is a formula that will add the "Y"'s and "N"'s based off of a filter per certain dates. Below is a brief example.
2/18/2009Y 8/15/2006N 2/18/2009Y 8/15/2006N 4/6/2005 N 4/6/2005 N
We want to be able to sort by dates so regardless of which date we pick, below the Y's and N's will be the total for the Y's and N's that are visible. If sorted by April, it will show 2 N's and 0 Y's, and so on. Is there any formula out there that can do this.
I'm trying to get certain data from an export of a phone logging report for a call center. I have exported this data into an excel spreadsheet. I would now like to retrieve the following information from the sheet.
'Agent name, Date, time of Login, time of Logout (at end of day).'
I have coloured these fields in red for easy finding. I do not require anything else from this data, however, within this sheet there are multiple agent names and can span for over a month. All names and dates are required. I have attached the current sheet, and also what it will possibly look like once complete. I would prefer the whole process to be automated if possible.
Is it possible to download search results in Windows 7 to an Excel spreadsheet? I searched for file names that started with a specific alpha character in a specific folder using Windows 7. The results came back with several hundred file names. I'd like to create a spreadsheet with columns for the file name and the sub folder name that contains the file. Is that possible?
I have a spreadsheet in which I do calculations, I need to do them many times and want to record on another spreadsheet the results of two cells. I would like to show the results as a string of values.
I am trying to filter a list for a ComboBox using VB. I have the following
Defined Name 'MemMapSel' 1stCol 2ndCol 3rdCol 4thCol 5thCol Alarms a BOOL 2001 4000 Commands i BOOL 4001 5000 Status s INT 7001 8000 Free x DINT 9001 10000 etc etc
I am using a combobox to select which row i require and am mapping the 4thCol to a cell At present the property 'ListFillRange' is set to 'MemMapSel' displaying all 5 columns and bounding column 4 as the value
What i really need is to Filter this list, so that the combobox only displays the BOOL entries in the 3rdCol, or the INT, etc I think i can use the Select function to do this, but i am not sure how to go about it.
i have a work book of 12 sheets, the two main sheets 1+2 have 5000+ rows. by 30 columns. each row column b is a site number in ascending order(up to 4 for each site) so auto filter select = to site 5 about 10 seconds later i get the result of 3 sites try site 846 30 odd seconds later up pops the result. so i copied the sheet to a new work book and tried and it's nigh on instantaneous. next step copied sheet paste special values into new sheet in same original workbook and tried filter on that still slow as ever, thing is this book around 8meg and i cant for the life of me work out why ive cleared excessive formats and reset last cell on each sheet. there is a vlookup from sheet 1 to 2 for each site to return serial numbers. i have tried it in vba by turning autocal off/on but still no difference.
I created a user form that provides a menu that allows users to perform advanced filtering. They can also scroll through the results freely. A problem is that a subsequent advanced filter selection does not always display the top row of filtered records, depending upon what the user has chosen to display prior to selecting the next set of filtered records.
How can I make the top row of filtered records always be displayed so that users will not overlook results of advanced filter operations?
But what do I use to count-unique values of variable D ?
=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(RangeD,RangeD)>0,1)) doesn't work. =SUM(1/COUNTIF(RangeD,RangeD&"")) doesn't work either
They don't work because D can occur during different combinations of A,B and C. In other words, the D value of 'Smith' can, and does, occur when A is 1,2 or 3 and additionally when B is Pass, Fail, Withdrawn.
They "don't work" because I can use filters on A, B, C and D to see what the correct answer should be .. and the function doesn't return the correct answer.
I hope I've explained this ok - I've been searching on several excel-help websites for 2 days now and one of the days my client is going to want some results.
now i have filtered data in a table, i want to use the results by printing off a table showing just these and the appropriate rows from other tables on worksheets. these all have a specific ID which is how they are traceable to each other. like a related field in an access database. two tables/worksheets are like so:
table1: Reg No | Rank | Name | Initials | Troop | etc
