Conditional Boundaries For Whole Row Based On A Single Cell's Value

View 2 RepliesSo I have a workbook that acts as a template for printable reports.
Above the data for each page, I have page information about the data below.
The problem I have is that the cell size for the data below does not match up properly with the page information. Merging alone doesn't quite get me the customization that I need. Is there anyway for excel to "ignore" the cell boundaries for a single row?
I know I can just create the sheet with many columns to overcome this issue but I am wondering if there is an easier way.
I am looking for a method to conditionally format a variable number of cells below a single cell into which data is entered.
For example ABC = 6, DEF = 12. Therefore, if I enter ABC into D1 then D1:D6 should be conditionally formatted.
This has been kicking my can all morning! Should be simple. I'm trying to conditionally format an array from the value of a single cell.
=IF(A1<80, A3:A24,RED,0)
=IF(A1>80,A3:A24,GREEN,0)
=IF(A1>120,A3:A24,BLUE,0)
I have a spreadsheet which uses conditional formatting to highlight cells with certain values. It's works perfectly, except for a single cell. The formatting formula is and should be exactly the same as other cells in the sheet. For whatever reason, this cell will not change with the formatting rules. The cell is not protected, it doesn't have any oddball values or anything that I can see.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a series of columns (L - X) each representing a diagnosed disorder (Dx), coded as binary, with 1=Positive Diagnosis (Success). The reference cell contains diagnostic codes; for each respective Dx column I need a 1 or 0, obviously. Each Dx category has a range of values (Dx codes), so I need to write syntax that reflects this range. For example, =IF(A1=>141,AND(A1=<239.99)),"1","0")
In other words, if cell value is 141 through 239.99 then return 1, else 0
Would it be something like this:
=IF(AND(A1=>141,OR(A1=<239.99)),"1","0")
I shall use a basic example to illustrate my problem - see attached - as the spreadsheet im actually working on is huge and contains sensitive data. So, In the spreadsheet attached, the problem is: I am mowing the grass of a football pitch and getting paid by the m3 of grass i mow. however i'm getting paid more when i mow at greater distances - defined by certain 'reaches'. so i need to know how many m3 ive mowed in each reach. I make a note of where I start on the pitch and where i end, and also how much grass i mow.
so im looking for a solution that is intelligent enough to distinguish where Ive taken grass from and how much, given that i know where i started, where i finish and how much i take.
Is it possible to change the format of cell AI3 based on the format of cell C3 and D3? I have C3 and D3 set to turn red based on what is in cell C2 and D2. I would like the following done:
If AI3=C3 & C3 is red, format AI3 blue
If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue
Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.
Possible???
I have a range of cells each containing a name. Based on a number that has to be entered manually I want excel to return the names concatenated in one cell. So for example:
Number of variable entered: 5
q9001
q9002
q9003
q9004
q9005
q9006
etc.
Should give me: "q9001 q9002 q9003 q9004 q9005"
I have been trying to work with formulas using IF and CONCAT functions. But so far I haven't figured out how to have excel return me the correct amount of variables for each separate number that can be entered seeing the number of variables entered can vary from 1 up to 50.

I would like to format cells with a currency based on a value selected at the top of my worksheet. Cell C3 is a drop down of currencies. And I would like cells range E11:E200 to format in whatever currency selected in cell C3.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a macro that's supposed to see if cell 5 meets criteria and continue to all sheets in workbook, except " Total".
When I activate the macro on a specific page, it runs smoothly on that page. But when it's finished, it doesn't continue to the next sheet in the workbook.
Sub ColourBG()
Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim line As Integer
endline = Range("A1000").End(xlUp).Row
For Each ws In Worksheets
If ws.Name <> "Total" Then
With ws
For line = 3 To endline
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
If (Cells(line, 5).Value = "0206") Then _
Cells(line, 1).EntireRow.Font.ColorIndex = 5 '*(Blue)
Next line
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End With
End If
Next ws
End Sub
When I enter a value for 'Number of Steps' from a drop down a table is generated with the x values changing accordingly.
For example:
Number of Steps 5
x x^2
------------
0 0
1 1
2 4
3 9
4 16
Number of Steps 9
x x^2
------------
0 0
0.5 0.25
1 1
1.5 2.25
2 4
2.5 6.25
3 9
3.5 12.25
4 16
You will notice that the number of steps is the number of x values that take us up to 4. The 4 is fixed. I would be able to work out the maths myself as I am a maths teacher but I was wondering how I could autopopulate the table based on a drop down box selection. If it involves going into VBA then don't worry my son needs to get to grips with what I have done.
Edit. The formatting does not seem to work above. On the left of each table is supposed to be the x value and on the right is x^2.
I have a worksheet with 14 columns. Column 12 is either blank or when I finish that project, from a drop down menu I pick Yes. What I am hoping for is that as soon as I hit yes the line will be cut from the first sheet labeled Open and pasted to the next available row on the second sheet labed Closed. On the first sheet that blank row is eliminated so there are no spaces and on sheet two it always looks for the next available row as to not over write any data.
Also, to make sure I am doing this right too, I would right click the tab then click view code, paste it into the window (below the drop down that says (General) click file save workbook then file close and return to excel correct? One last thing, while looking at this page it shows my worksheet I call Open is really sheet 16 and closed is really sheet 17.
In my business I deal with a ton of different dimensions for my products. A lot of times the dimension will be within the cell as follows, "Product A 17x27 Brown", is in a single cell.
Is it even possible to write a code or formula that will find the "17x27" in the description, recognize it as a "dimension" and then run the formula that I need which is
I know it can delete entire rows based on the value of single cell, I just don't know how to do it. So what I need is a macro that will delete an entire row if the value in a particular column = 0.

Been trying to work this one out and have ended up banging my head against the wall.
Basically I have a spreadsheet, in the first column is the person's name, in the secon which team they are in and following this a cell for each day of the month with their availability.
The team name is a selection from a list, the availability is 1-6 (different levels of availability)
I'm trying to do subtotals at the bottom for each separate team, so the very last row each of the cells for each is added up:
Name Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th etc.
Mr X ___1st___1______2__1
Mr Y ___2nd_______2________5__5__5
Mr Z ___1st___1____________3__3__3
Total 1st: 2 2 1 3 3 3
Total 2nd: 2 5 5 5
So basically the formula in the last row goes along the lines of:
Add each cell in the column IF the team name = 1st
I have a cell that has a formula in it like PREM + PRDCMP + ACQ + DLR in a spreadsheet that looks like this:
PREM PRDCMP ACQ DLR VIP COMM TOTAL
2 1 3 4 6 5
PREM + PRDCMP + ACQ + DLR 2 1 3 4 10
where PREM + PRDCMP + ACQ are colored red and + DLR is colored blue. This formula is entered in that particular cell as a text string. I have a formula in the PREM column that says if the word PREM is located in the formula to the left (and it is), then put the value that is located right under the PREM column (2) in the blank cell next to the formula. So, in the above example, I have an IF statement that sees that PREM is in the formula to the left and so underneath the PREM column, next to the formula, it would place the number 2. Now, I need Excel to detect if any word in the formula text string is colored blue and if it is, to put a zero in that column. So, in the formula above, if + DLR is the only text that is blue, I want to have Excel add 2 + 1 + 3 only. I want to have Excel take any string out that might be colored blue, such as + DLR and return the value of zero for it. The purpose of the different colors in the formula is to distinguish which information is relevant and which information should be ignored. So, I'd like Excel to read the above formula and say put the PREM amount in the cell under PREM, put the PRDCMP amount in the cell underneath PRDCMP, put the ACQ amount in a cell under ACQ and put zero in the DLR column since it is colored blue. If any of them (PREM, PRDCMP, ACQ, DLR, VIP or COMM) are colored blue, I want Excel to put a zero in that column.
I want to control what a user enters into a single cell based on others.E.g.
A B
1 20 500
2 50 500
3 75 500
4 100 300
Column A is a thickness and column b is a width what I want to happen if the user enters a thickness in cell D1 and a width in cell D2 I want an error to pop up if for instance the user enters 100 as a thickness to only allow a maximum of 300 in the width. likewise if the user enters a thickness less than 100 in cell D1 to allow him to enter up to 500.
Here’s an example of my data:
A B
1110AAAAAAA
2220BBBBBBBB
3330CCCCCCCC
4330DDDDDDD
5330EEEEEEEEE
6440FFFFFFFFF
7440GGGGGGG
8550HHHHHHH
I need your help to figure out how to merge the above data to look like this in new blank worksheet using a VBA macro:
A B
1110AAAAAAA
2220BBBBBBBB
3330CCCCCCCC
DDDDDDD
EEEEEEEE
4440FFFFFFFFF
GGGGGGG
5550HHHHHHH

how to highlight an entire record based on the value of a single cell?
I would like to highlight all records grey where cells in a column = "closed".
Now the problem, Each client has a sheet in a workbook. In each sheet, I input the number of days of service available to that particular client in a single cell. We'll say cell [G8] is the cell used for this input in all sheets. If the client has 30 days of service available then we type [30] in cell [G8]. Each sheet is a 100 day template. I want to shade in dark grey and lock from input the days NOT available to the client based on the days of service input in cell [G8]. If 30 days of service are available in cell [G8] then the remaining 70 days on the 100 day template would be shaded dark grey and locked from input. That is, day 31 through day 100 of the template would be locked and shaded. Each individual day has multiple cells in a column. I want to lock and shade each column of cells in each day not available.

1. I have a main worksheet that will have a number manually entered into a cell (lets say A1);
2. I have a 'template' worksheet;
3. I'll assign the macro to a button on the main worksheet
If I enter '10' into cell A1 of the main worksheet, I'd like to click the button and have Excel create 10 copies of the template worksheet. These new worksheets should all share the same name with a number after them (ex: banana 1, banana 2..... banana 10).
I have an excel document with multiple excel sheets(sheet1, sheet2...etc), now every sheet contains a cell "total".
Now I want to copy the row containing "total" from all the sheets into another sheet called "report".
I have two columns. In column B is the date of "last check". I column A is the date of "next check". I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.
