However, it seems to be only copying the row in worksheet A and pasting it. Is there something that a noob VBA scripter has missed out?

I have a worksheet with 30,000 rows. But sometimes even if I have fewer records in this worksheet(lets say 1000) worksheet shows the same 30,000 rows. And its annoying when you try to navigate using vertical scroll bar. Is there any option to re-adjust the worksheet to make it more user friendly based on number of rows in current sheet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have written code that allows a user to copy, via a button, a certain sheet any number of times. They can choose to copy that sheet 5 times and then 10 times, etc.
When the sheet tries to be copied for the 17th time, it fails with the following message: "Run-time error '1004':
Method 'Copy' of object '_Worksheet' failed"
Here is the code that I have. The second line is the line that is failing.
Worksheets("RoedForm").Select
Worksheets("RoedForm").Copy After:=Worksheets(iCount)
This always fails on the 17th copy regardless of how many different combinations of copy sheets the user tries. There are several sheets before the sheet that is to be copied and I have deleted several of those to see what happens and it still fails on the 17th copy. I also have 1GB of memory, so I don't believe that memory is an issue.
I have a workbook that contains 50 worksheets named 1-50. I need to add more worksheets. all the formulas in the worksheets always refers to the previous worksheet.
How can i make a copy of the worksheet named 50, name it 51 and have all the formulas in worksheet 51 refer back to worksheet 50?
I've been tackling this data capture/paste issue for a week or so. I found the string below which does provide a good foundation for my challenge. But, my basic level of understanding macros limits my modifications to meet my needs.
[URL] ......
I have 20 worksheets in my master file corresponding to Excel files individual associates will update weekly. After the associates have updated their individual files for the week, I want to capture the data entered and paste values into a master file containing a worksheet for each associate (sharing the same name as the individual associate file). All of these files are housed on team SharePoint sites.
I need a macro to perform several steps after clicking a "Run Update" macro button in the master file:
Open individual associate fileIn master file, search for each Initiative listed in column B (starting cell B3) in the individual associate file (in column B starting at cell B11)If Initiative is found in individual associate file, copy adjacent data in columns D:J for the respective rowIn master file, paste values to the corresponding Initiative row for the corresponding week's worth of dataIf Initiative is not found in the individual associate file, move to the next Initiative listed in the master fileRepeat these steps for each individual associate file
Linking would be the easiest way to accomplish this if I wanted to have a multitude of weekly individual files for the associates. However, I'd rather each associate have one file for them to update (basically overwriting their previous week's entries).
I need to ensure the paste values corresponds to the appropriate day of the week. In simpler terms, if the date in the individual associate file in cell D9 reads Oct 1, 2012, the data captured from that row needs to be pasted to the corresponding row/column in the master file that reads the same date.
I'm a novice Excel 2007 user and appreciate all the help I can get. I have a workbook with monthly worksheets in it. When a certain data Type is selected from a drop down menu in that monthly worksheet than I would like to have it automatically enter specific data (Name, Date, Eval, Type) copied to another worksheet (CC) in the same workbook. I have been manually entering the data so far. Another thing, some of the data will be entered into the Monthly worksheets and some will only be manually entered into the CC worksheet so it would need to accomodate both methods of data entry. Please let me know if I need to clarify. I have attached the workbood, too.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI would like to copy the data from one worksheet to the alternate row in another worksheet as follows. I've attached a file showing the source file and the desired output.
1. Copy column B's data in worksheet "Working" to worksheet "Upload file" Column V. B2's data goes to V1, B3's data goes to V3, B3's data goes to V5, so on and so forth.
2. Copy column H's data in worksheet "Working" to worksheet "Upload file" Column F. H2's data goes to F1, H3's data goes to F3, H3's data goes to F5, so on and so forth.
The number of rows with data in worksheet "Working" varies. It could be 30 lines one time and over 100 lines another time.
I would like to copy and paste two columns from a worksheet to another worksheet simultaneously. I would like to have a macro to do this function.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Excel WorkBook with 100 WorkSheets.
Each Worksheet has a unique identifying label - "Requirement Number"
Within each worksheet is free form text data of the following categories:
Requirement: 10358
Title: Customer requirement 1
Text: This describes the requirements for a product for the customer[code].....
The text of the categories may begin in column A or B
What I need is a macro that will search each worksheet for a category, e.g., "Configuration:", copy the row where the keyword "Configuration" is found, and then have that row transposed and pasted to another WorkSheet (e.g., "Extracted Data") cell.
Data extracted from the next Worksheet would begin a new row in "Extracted Data"
Example:
Requirement1 Title Text Verification Method-Level ...
Requirement2 Title Text Verification Method-Level ...
Requirement3 Title Text Verification Method-Level ...
The Requirement# is best extracted from the WorkSheet tab since some of the worksheets are missing this information.
I can provide an example spreadsheet, however, I was not able to figure out how do that in this post.
I found a thread similar to this problem:
find and copy row
However, it only finds, copies and pastes for one keyword.
What I am trying to do is to write a macro that will automatically copy six columns from worksheet (Sheet 1) to another worksheet (Sheet 2). i.e. ‘Description of Project’, ‘WBS Code’, ‘Rate’, ‘Employee Name’, ‘Premium’, ‘Invoice’, ‘Status’, ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ from Worksheet (from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2)
The problem arises as I know the names of the columns to be copied in Sheet 1 (as details above) but they can be in any order in sheet 1.
In additional the columns ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ are total columns so when they are copied from ‘Sheet 1’ to ‘Sheet 2’ their values should be copied as opposed to the formulas
I am looking for a solution to an otherwise very tedious problem.

I would like to be able to select several non-sequential rows in a worksheet called "Data" (using a check box or just entering a value in Column A) and then be able to press a Command button to copy the selected rows to another worksheet called "Estimate" at the bottom of a table, and delete the designators in Column A (i.e. deletes the value, or unchecks the boxes) so I can repeat the process again if needed.

As I am managing a few projects at once, I would like to create a To Dos List for each project (seperated by different worksheets). To make my life a bit easier, I hope to show all the To Dos which is due on a particular day on a separate worksheet. In other words, I am hoping to write a macro which allows me to copy all the relevant To Dos (of that day) from different worksheets and compiled it into a single list on a new worksheet.
Note:
1) Each row of To Do contains 3 columns, Date, Priority and Descriptions.
2) The To Dos for each project are NOT arrange in sequence by dates.
3) Number of project will increase over time, therefore the number of worksheets will also increase.
To protect formulas and formatting, I have code, which copies a row, with formatting and formulas, from a hidden sheet, unprotect the main sheet, inserts the copied row and reprotect the main sheet. This works great, except with conditional formatting.
My current conditional formatting works on the range: $A$3:$B$100. The copied row is inserted on Row 4. When done, this splits the conditional formatting to: $A$3:$B$3 and $A$5:$B$101, whether or not the copied row contains the same conditional formatting. This makes sense, but is it possible to maintain the original, all-encompassing range? Otherwise I'll end up getting thousands of conditional formatting for each insert.
I have a series of tabs with data, 25 columns by 600 rows, all with numbers. A cell should be red and lined out if its' corresponding cell on the very last tab is less than 50. I've tried to name range the area on the last tab (RawBuyers) and use it in a Formula Is CF on the first worksheet, but I get errors.
I'm seeking help with a CF formula that I can apply to each tabs data range.
I've seen threads similar to my issue, so I apologize if this is redundant (but nothing I've found is doing the trick.)
I have a summary worksheet for data contained within 50 worksheets that follow it. The summary page has 50 rows corresponding to the 50 worksheets. The rows count the number of entries there are in each column in its corresponding worksheet. Because of the large amount of data ( dates, prices, names) that gets added to the worksheets, it is difficult to find the latest changes.
Ideally, if data within the worksheets were added in the last three days, I would like to see the cells on the summary worksheet that changed to be highlighted. Alternatively, I could add a column in the summary worksheet which would show the date of the most recent change in the cell that corresponds to its worksheet.
I tried working with excel formulas but could not find an ideal solution. A problem I ran into was that the dates do not sit in a consecutive range, i.e. columns B,E,F,J, and H contains the dates. The other have numbers, prices. So looking for a Max number is troublesome becasue of the long formula I would have to create for each row.
Does any one have a VBA solution?
I have a worksheet titled "detail" containing 3 cells which automatically and independently change colour subject to their proximity to various dates. On a new worksheet titled "overview" in the same workbook I would like to have one cell which changes colour if any of the 3 cells in the other worksheet are triggered.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an excel document saved in a SharePoint document library. I then have another excel document where I created a connection back to the document being saved on SP (went to data connections->add->browse for more->enter the SP URL & found the document) and then opened that connection up as its own worksheet (existing connections->chose my connection). In the original worksheet (saved on SP), there are about 20 columns that are formatted as numbers. However, when I open the connection up in the new document, half of these columns are still number formatted, but the rest are being displayed as text EVEN THOUGH they are technically formatted as numbers (I right click->format cells & they are formatted as numbers). I can click into a cell and press enter and it will "come up to speed" and enter into number formatting, but as soon as I refresh my connection back to the original document, they go back to their text formatting despite the fact that the connection they are drawing from has them saved as numbers! Very frustrating. Its not a SP issue because I recreated the scenario by saving the original document to my computer and it did the same thing. I even went through one column in the original document and made sure there were no spaces saved to trigger the column to go to text- nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook with 30+ worksheets
named 23 Wed, 24 Thur, 25 Fri, etc etc
meaning April 23, 2014 Wednesday, April 24, 2014 Thursday, etc etc
The next project may start on May 19, 2014 Monday - so I have to rename each worksheet beginning with 19 Mon, etc etc
Renaming each worksheet manually takes a long time and is prone to error
I would like to just rename the first worksheet to start date of May 19, 2014 and have the rest renamed automatically.
I have software that exports to an excel file. The files are one or two page reports. The way the software dumps the reports into excel, it comes out looking pretty rough. The rows and columns aren't spaced very well, the fonts look like garbage, and nobody likes them.
I would like to apply formatting changes to these reports automatically without the end user having to do anything. So as soon as the document is opened up it bolds the column headers, adjusts column widths etc. The reports are auto generated so no formatting can be done when the reports are made.
There may also be different formatting done to different reports. The files will come out named something like, "Report_A_DDMMYYY.xls, Report_B_DDMMYYY.xls," etc. Report A, and Report B will likely need different formatting.
I'm not opposed to using VBA or whatever might be necessary to make this happen. I can learn anything I need to pretty quickly, I just don't know where to start with this.
I need to create conditional formatting on a worksheet where I need to change the cell colour based on 6 cases.
The VBA that I have found does not work with referenced cells to another worksheet in the workbook which I need as all the data is referenced with calculations.
I also need to specify the cells that the VBA will apply to as I need to apply 6 or 7 different different sets of conditional formatting on the same worksheet to different groups of cells.
I'm trying to create a worksheet change event macro that will change the colour of the cell when you update the value in that cell.
I have column C with 140 rows and when one of the cells in the column is changed by the user, I need the same cell to highlight in yellow. The highlight would then be removed once the user has acted on the change in the value, and that'll be done in another macro.
I understand I need a worksheet change event macro in the specific sheet and need the following code for yellow:
Code:
.Interior.Color = RGB(255,255,0)
, but any further I get stuck as it involves 'target addresses'
I am trying to do a conditional format of 0 to 2 is red, 3 to 4 is yellow and 5 is green. However I also need to have a cell that is blank to remain white and this is the part I am having problems with.
I found the following code since I cannot use the standard conditional formating in excel since it needs 4 conditions.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim icolor As Integer
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("H3:H12")) Is Nothing Then
Select Case Target
Case 0 To 2
icolor = 3
Case 3 To 4
icolor = 6
Case 5
In Excel 2013 x64 (EN; CZ locale) I have this funny bug. I work on a large vba project and sometimes when I open it, every cell in every workbook that had default formatting now has this numberformat (shown as "Accounting")
"_-* #,##0.00 [$KÄŤ-405]_-;-* #,##0.00 [$KÄŤ-405]_-;_-* ""-""?? [$KÄŤ-405]_-;_-@_-"
its seems that this formatting is assigned to styles --> Normal and it just messes up everything (pivots, slicers...) and cannot(!) be undone.
I have made some routines to check for this error on workbook.open and workbook.close and I also have file versioning. I check for the error regularly on every worksheet change, but it never comes up, nor does it whenever I close the workbook, so Im having hard time detecting when it occurs.
Sometimes when I try to open the workbook its just all messed up. When I go trough the versions, couple of them back still has the error which means it was already saved with it.
All I could figure out so far is that it sometimes happens when I try to copy some cell and paste it elsewhere (but later it works fine)
I'm 99.9% sure that my code is not causing it by accident or purpose. Now I just found the problem on different workbook that might have been opened at the same time. If you're interested, have a look here [URL] ......
I have a worksheet with a lot of different conditions applied to a lot of cells. I'd like to do some housekeeping, but to do that, I would like a clear and complete list of all cells that have conditional formats attached to them, and what the formula/criteria is for applying said format. I don't even care what the formatting is, but that would be nice too.
So, when I go to my "Conditional Formatting" screen, I get something like:
Now, this doesn't show me much of anything about what the formula actually is. I need to select it and look around. I'd rather just get a full listing of what the rule says...
And where I might have the same rule applied to different ranges of cells And so on.
