Find Value And Then Copy Info From Previous Column
Feb 15, 2010
I have a spread sheet with bunch of rows and columns. Columns goes all the way from A ... BB and rows from 1 to 40,000
The main focus is column Y and AC
If there is a value of FALSE found in column Y then macro should go to previous row and copy the value that contains in column AC and then move down to the next row, , where the value FALSE was found and that's in column Y and paste that value in column AC the NUMERIC VALUE
Below is the data ...

I am comfortable with getting a macro to copy & paste where I need it to, however how to get the macro to recognise when a certain value has stopped.
For example in Column B on "DataDrop" are all the divisions that exist in my company i.e East Anglia, Essex, London etc. There is an empty row between each division.

I have three columns
"A" is item number: "B" is sales Date: "C" is sales price.
What I would like to do is search column A and when there are two of the same item numbers know what date they sold and for what price. I would prefer to build another table that has only this data.

I have a spreadsheet which is updated daily. Row A of the sheet has the date in it, and every day a new column is created for the that set of data. I have the below code which works at the moment:
[Code] .....
I want to use this same code on another spreadsheet to do the same process (I need to copy and paste 4 columns (A,B,C + D, into E, F, G & H, then tomorrow it will copy E, F, G & H into I, J, K &L etc etc)). The problem I'm having is that A1:C1 is a merged cell, then D isn't (used as a border to separate). So when it is copied I need to select the merged cell columns and column D (i.e. A:C & D on day 1) and paste it into E:H with E1:G1 merged.

I am using Excel 2008 for Mac. I have a spreadsheet that I am essentially using as a simple cheque ledger so that I can keep track of who I have written cheques to, for what amount, and what has already cleared. I have a the following columns:
Name
Date Written
Cheque Amount
Cleared?
In the 'Cleared?' column I mark an X when it has cleared the bank. I'm trying to find a way to get the SUM of the whole 'Cheque Amount' column that hasn't cleared (ie: has nothing in the 'cleared' column).

In column A I have Product Codes, They start at A3 and go down to A169.
I need to have a formula which i can drag across from CQ3 to DH3 which corresponds in the following manner.
CQ3 = A4
CR3 = A5
CS3 = A6
etc etc.
I then want to be able to copy the formula into another place, eg CQ20 = A21, CR20 = A22 etc
I have attached a screen shot.

I'm trying to work out to most efficient way of making a quality monitoring system which uses traffic lights to show problem products.
The traffic light system need to obey the following "rules".
Each product is tested once daily When a product fails once it moves to Amber, When a product Fails twice in a row it moves to RedOne pass when a product is in Amber Status, will reset it to green.If a Product is in Red status, it much have 3 consecutive passes to reset to Green.
I have tried to use array formulae to look up a column for previous values in the past for this sort of thing, but with 100000+ rows it runs far too slowly.
Banana Problem?

I have 2 worksheets, "Data Dump" and "Target List"
I'm trying to cycle through the "Target List" in column "A", find the same value in column "B" in the "Data Dump" sheet. When I find it, I want to copy several other cells from the found row into cells on the "Target List" (though probably to a different column). Here is the code I'm trying to use. How to correct it to get the result I'm looking for.

I have a row of dates with a variable number of nonblank cells between them. e.g.:
A1 1/9/12
B1 6/9/12
C1
D1 8/9/12
E1
F1
G1 12/9/12
I want to calculate the NETWORKDAYS between dates, but where there is a blank cell, I want to be able to use the date in the previous nonblank cell. For example, NETWORKDAYS(B1,D1), if cell C1 is blank or NETWORKDAYS(D1,G1), if cell F1 is blank.
how to get the value of the previous nonblank cell and nest it inside the NETWORKDAYS formula?

This code (partial) was written to interrogate a database. Cell "A2" of another tab contains a Part Number to be sought.
Target = Range("A2")
Sheets("Kanban Data").Select
Dim Nrow As Range
Dim N As Integer
On Error Resume Next
With Sheets("Kanban Data")
Set Nrow = .Columns(2).Find(What:=Target, After:=.Cells(3, 2), LookIn:=xlValues, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False)
If the Find expression (as pulled down from the Edit menu) is empty, then inserting a Part Number in A2 and executing the macro finds the correct record and returns the its correct row number (N, as defined afterwards in the code). Then, changing the Part Number in cell A2 and executing a new search returns the SAME row as the previous search, despite Target being equal to the new sought after value.

I'm trying to use the find() function (or another if it exists) to find a previous non-empty cell.
Basically, the active cell will be ain a column with mostly empty cells, and I need it to move up the column looking for the previous cell that is not blank. I could do it with a loop, but I'd rather not if possible.

I am trying to do is when a user puts in an RMA number into a textbox (txtReviseRMA) on the userform, it will search column B on the spreadsheet to find the matching RMA number. Then I want it to look in column G for the Serial number and populate another textbox (txtSerial1) on the userform with that number.
My problem is that there can be a little as 1 serial number to an RMA or as many as 14, and each serial number has to go into a different textbox (they are named txtSerial1 all the way to txtSerial14).
If there are multiple serial numbers being sent in on one RMA, they are on different lines.
For example:
Column B (RMAs) Column G (Serials)
(B1) R66245 (G1) AA-10-1000
(B2) R66245 (G2) BB-20-2000
(B3) R66300 (G3) CC-30-3000
(B4) R66305 (G4) DD-40-4000
(B5) R66305 (G5) AA-10-1000
(B6) R66305 (G6) FF-60-6000
(B7) R66375 (G7) GG-70-7000..................

I am running Win XP and Excel 2003.
I have a macro I found here on the boards written by Lenze to delete an entire row based on what is found in column A. I would like to delete any row where Col. B contains 10 or less characters and I have modified it to do so (or at least I think it does). My problem is that it takes about 12 minutes to run the macro (I have about 50k lines to run through). I was wondering if this is the fastest method or if it examines things other than just column B.
Sub Test()
Dim i As Long
LR = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row
For i = LR To 2 Step -1
If Len(Cells(i, "B")) < 11 Then Cells(i, "B").EntireRow.Delete
Next i
End Sub
After this runs, I am left with Columns A to somewhere around AH. The columns are generally in the format of text followed by a numeric column. An individual text column has the same name through all of the rows. The numeric columns have varied values whether negative or positive.
Ideally what I would like: If a given cell (ie. C2) in Row 2 is numeric, then copy the cell to the left (ie. B2) into (ie. C1) and then delete Column B. I need this to work for multiple columns from B to C, skip D and E, and then from F to AG (and maybe beyond).

Excel 2003. I have a list of names in column A, dates in column B, I need the difference between dates for the people in column A, I am doing it now with the formula shown but I need a formula to put in column C that will look at the name in column A, for that row, and then find that name above it and give me the difference between the to dates in column B. So in the example below if I put the formula in C7 it would look at A6-A2 for harry and then give me the difference between B7 and B4, 6 days, if there is not a match return blank.

Is there a function to put in a new column to get the abbreviated year and month of a previous column in the same row???
Ex. Row A B C D
3/14/2007 5/16/2007 2007-3 2007-5
Instead of using the YEAR MONTH funcion for each row is there a universal function that I could designate to the whole column of C and D something like C=YEAR(A(row#))???

I need to look up the name in E2 in the list in column A and if it matches then lookup name in F2 in list column b, if it matches then the corresponding number in column C is displayed in column G. If neither names are in the 2 columns the words"Not on lists" is displayed in cell in column G.
The other problem is one name is spelled two different ways I want it to look for both spelling before moving on to looking up the second name.
I started with this formula but I'm getting #N/A or "not on list" when they are on the list. I'm using ranges prod_sum is columns AthruC, Last_name is range BthruC. =IF(AND(VLOOKUP(F4,prod_sum,3,0),VLOOKUP(I4,last_name,2,0)),"not on list")

I have the text value "Ball, Red" somewhere in column A. I don't know which row it's in because it will never be in the same row twice. I need a macro to find this value, then, copy that whole row and "insert copied cells" right below that row and change the value in the newly created cell from "Ball, Red" to "Red, Ball".
I tried macro recorder to do this and had no luck...
Cells.Find(what:="Ball, Red", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToRight)).Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToRight)).Select
Selection.Copy
Range("A21").Select
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToLeft)).Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToLeft)).Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "Red, Ball"
Range("A22").Select
That's is all there is to it on this one.

way to search for a value in a cell (an unique one) using an input box and then if the value is found copying the whole row of the cell onto a new worksheet in the next available row within a table.
I am currently using the following archaic codes:
x$ = InputBox("Please Enter Catalogue Number")
For i = 4 To 500
If Sheet2.Cells(i, 1) = x$ Or Sheet2.Cells(i, 7) = x$ Or Sheet2.Cells(i, 8) = x$ Or Sheet2.Cells(i, 9) = x$ Then
Sheet1.Cells(6, 1) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 1)
Sheet1.Cells(6, 2) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 2)
Sheet1.Cells(6, 3) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 3)
Sheet1.Cells(6, 4) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 4)
Sheet1.Cells(6, 5) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 5)
Sheet1.Cells(6, 6) = Sheet2.Cells(i, 6)
End If
Next i
End Sub
this has the problem that i can't fit it to the next available row and have to be specific for each row.
it would also be great if i could put a messagebox in cases where the data is not found, basically saying that the item does not exist and if a simple excel Ctrl+F button or something similar could be attached to the msgbox so that the item can be searched and then added to the next available row.

see attached spreadsheet. In sheet 1 I would like to look up each word in column D, seeing if they are in column B at all. Note if the word "Jill" is in D and "jilly" in a surname in B I would like it to get picked up. I have highlighted manually those that would get picked up. Those that do get picked up I would like to be copied into column C as per sheet 2 (this is what I would like it to end up like). There is a very long winded way of doing this using a find function and 1 column per word but as the actual sheet i'm using has thousands of different words this isn't really viable!

Basically this is what I want to do:
1. Search a specific column (Column 21/U) for non-blank values in Worksheet 1
2. Copy the entire row containing the non-blank values
3. Paste these rows into Worksheet 2.
Repeat steps 1-3 an additional 2 times, where Worksheet 1 is always searched but one more column to the right (ex. Column 22/V) is the target column for the search, then the rows are pasted into the next Worksheet (for ex. Worksheet 3)
