I would like a formula which will look at a range of cells, for instance a2:g2 and count how many of the cells contents are the same. The cells contain a combination of text and numbers.
View 9 RepliesI want to consolidate certains cells in 30 identical worksheets in a workbook. I understood that if I use the 3-D formula method, that I could insert new identical worksheets into the range of worksheets and the consolidated totals would update. Is that correct?
I cannot seem to get the syntax to work. When I read the Excel Help file it gives an example of =sum(sheet2:sheet7!B3) but I don't understand how Excel could answer this ( if the worksheets were named Sheet2,sheet3,sheet4 etc up to sheet7)
In my example, the formula is clearly wrong. Why does it not use the single quotation marks '? I cannot find references to the proper syntax anywhere. I have your training program but this does not spell it out for me either. If I use Data>Consolidate then I have to labouriously do this for each cell that I want to consolidate.
Is there a formula that would allow you to take the average of all values within a range but not count the zero values? I thought something like this might work but it's not. Neither one worked.

I have a sheet with a bunch of data including dates. I'd like to report out the number of cells that are in a certain month (say January). If I create another column and use =MONTH(A12), I can use COUNTIF(A1:A100,1) to perform this task. This somewhat clunky solution isn't very practicle, becuase I have about 30 column's I'd like to analyze by the date in the column. Is there a more elegant solution where I can incorporate the MONTH(A12) into the COUNTIF equation?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the following macro (as part of a much bigger set of code that adds some formulas to to cells to return the total number of unique values. The problem is, this part of the macro takes over 10 minutes to run. Is there a quicker way of doing this or am I going to have to just wait it out each time.
The columns B and/or H is a formula. Column W is an string value.
FYI the last row it is counting to is between 4000 and 30000 lines in each of the formulas

I have a column, we'll say E18:E2500. In the cells in that column are four digit numbers. Some of these cells may have multiple four digit numbers separated by a comma and a space. (example: 2020, 2100, 3120) Some other cells in the column may also share the four digit numbers (I mean duplicates).
So I'm trying to write a formula to sum and count all the unique values in the cells and in the range. This is what i've been trying to use but it counts all the values with no regard to duplicate values:
=SUM(IF(LEN(TRIM($E$18:$E$2500))=0,0,LEN(TRIM($E$18:$E$2500))-LEN(SUBSTITUTE($E$18:$E$2500," ",""))+1))
I need to do is, on sheet 2 is to have a formula which will count all cells in column A containing dates from 1/1/2009 to 31/1/2009, Another column will count all dates from 1/2/2009 to 28/2/2009 and so on. I have tried the countif format but this does not seem to work.

Go down a column and identify all accounts that are identical, then add up the values that are 5 columns to the right of each account and paste them on another sheet along with the account code (there are 12 values for each account to be added with the other identical accounts).
I've attached a spreadsheet, because I understnad this might be kind of confusing. In essence:
1. Go down column C
2. Look for accounts that are identical
3. Add up the values for each account in columns G:R
4. Copy and paste the added values to another sheet along with columns C:F for each account to identify it.
I have a spreadsheet, similar to the one attached, that monitors deliveries. The reasons for deliveries not being made on time are merged across to have one reason per delivery vehicle.
I am trying to count the number of times a reason occurs, but utilizing a COUNTIF function it will only count a merged cell as one count, rather than per each delivery.

I need to count cells withdates in theme in a column. So that would be a CountA function; but only if the values in the cells are within a certain date range, a COUNTIF function. Here's what I thought:

It returns a zero, which I know is not correct, as I checked it on a smaller sample....

Many of them have the same percentage of completion, e.g. 22% I need to have it display the percentage with their name. I have over 100 kids and the data is compiled in columns. I want it to end up looking like this:
Bill 20%
Kathy 19%
Jill 19%
Gary 18%
Jarome 18%
Louise 18%
Additionally, if there is a tie (which there usually is) for the 5th place, I want to include the 6th or 7th place automatically.
I have an issues with a formulae I have written to measure two factors;
A; How many different countries appear within a certain date range. B; What countries are they.
I tried a unique list, but could not get it to work within a range? I dont particuarly care how the data is pulled through as long as I do it. At the moment I have become stuck in 'Unique Ranges' and have n given up?
The formulae issue is in the tab "Problem_Formulae", the dat in the sheet 1, and the date ranges in sheet 2. Also, just to make life a bit more challenging pivot tables are a no go .

I have a filtered worksheet -WB1 (filtered by Column "B"). I want to count the number of cells or rows in column "B"(Only the filtered ones) of WB1. Copy out that exact number of cells from another workbook(WB2) from the bottom moving up(Column "A") and paste it into WB1 column "I".

I have a simple date formula that I want to present "yes" in a cell when another cells date is less then or equal to "Today". I just can't figure out how to make it show my result cell as blank if my date cell is blank?

I want a count of just those account names but without the copies for the different transactions. Within the same workbook, a different worksheet that has the same exact cell settings is showing "$0.00" in those cells. I can't figure out how to get it to be blank! Yes, I tried the copy/paste from the cell that I like to the other worksheet but it doesn't work. Again - all of the cell settings are the same.

I am trying to arrive at a total number of matches of numbers in cell range B1:G1 with any numbers entered into the cell range of K1:P11 and have the total of matches display in cell H1.
However I do not want to count duplicate numbers from the K1:P11 cells. (if the number 5 in posted in K1:P11 multiple times I only need it reported once in H1)
B1:G1 is the constant and the numbers will not change - K1:P11 cells will be populated by adding numbers until the all the numbers in B1:G1 is completed and match.

I'm looking for the easiest way to count the number of occurrences within a cell range.
The formula that I'm currently using is:
=COUNTIF(D$5:D$8,"a*")
This counts the number of cells that start with 'a' and returns the sum. It seems to work fine, but when I try to make it look for more values in the range it gives me an error. For example;
When I want to find multiple values in the range and count them all, I use this formula:
=COUNTIF(D$5:D$8,OR("a*","b*","c*"))
I have the following formula which counts number of days between dates in two adjacent cells excluding holidays
=NETWORKDAYS(U311,V311,$AA$4:$AA$14)-1
The $AA$4:$AA$14 refers tote range where the excluded holiday dates are stored.
I have included the -1 at the end as it over counts by one day every time. i.e. if the same date is in both cells it counts 1
However if no date is in both fields it count -1 (minus one)
If a date is just in one field it counts a very high number, example below.

Right now on "Protocol" Sheet I want the cells with the "Protocol 1" field to look at Admin_Panel Sheet and find the row with the same text. Then take the text in cell A of the same row and copy it to the cell below the "Protocol 1" listed on the protocol sheet.
I'm trying to compare values in 2 separate columns to see how many times the same value appears in both columns. Ideally I would be able to insert a range function to compare the values in the column "ID 1" against the values in column "ID 2" and return the count of times that a value appears in both columns. For example 2122, 1112 and 1718 appear in both columns and I would like the formula to return a count of 3.

In my actual project I'm comparing 2 columns in the same worksheet. The column are column B with data in cells B2:B10266 against column C with data in cells C2:C18560.
I am looking for a way to highlight groups of identical number cells in alternating grey and white. My goal is to make it clear when there is a repeating set of numbers. Below is an example of what a completed state of this would look like that I created manually. The real form I will be using this code on will have long number which is why I am looking for this added clarification. I am using excel 2010.
