View 4 RepliesI need a lookup formula that matches first three digits of column, U (153 - LINE PIPE), and match Total 13153 - LINE PIPE, 7th, 8th, and 9th digit in column C. and bring value from either column T,
The formula that I am using is not obviously not correct, I am putting it here to show what I am trying to do.
{=INDEX($T$2:$T$16,MATCH(LEFT(S2,3),MID(C2:C273,FIND(" ",C2),3)),FALSE)}
Any way to construct a formula in excel that will look at a reference in one column and find the latest date from the data in an adjacent column for that specific reference?
Below is an exctract from a much larger sheet of the columns in question.
The result in the last column should be 21/05/2014 for anything with D.O.001 in the second column and 15/05/2014 for anything with D.O.002.
Date Decision agreed

If I have a columns of numbers that vary in length, and can have empty cells between the final value and the formula to pull the number (of varing lengths), what formula can I use to repeat the final value?
For example - here are two columns:
4,800,000
0
46,594
space
space
<formula to pull 46,594>
or
56,000
48,150

I have three columns of data laid out like this:
Column A Column B Column C Column D
(blank) Purchase Orders Shipments # Shipment Reference Field
12345 1ZX123 xxOO12346
12346 1ZC345 KJH12347--45
12347 1Z7YYT 0000012345XXX
I'm trying to write a formula for column A that essentially looks at the field in column B, finds the instance of the data anywhere in the entirety of Column D, and when it locates it puts the corresponding field from Column C of that line in the results of column A. So the result above would turn out like this:
Column A Column B Column C Column D
(blank) Purchase Orders Shipments # ShipmentReferenceField
1Z7YYT 12345 1ZX123 xxOO12346
1ZX123 12346 1ZC345 KJH12347--45
1ZC345 12347 1Z7YYT 0000012345XXX
I have the origins of a formula here...but I don't know how to put in the part where i'm retrieving the data from Column C of the same line as the target data.
=INDEX($D$1:$D$100, MATCH(B1,1*LEFT($D$1:$D$100,LEN(B1)),0))
i need to format my numbers in the following format
10,00,000.00
the first three digits will be separated and then subsequently 2 digits
I have the following working great, but would like to see it refine a little, as the data vlookup is 6 digits, but i only needs the last 4 digits is enough for me to work, my question is how do i go about adding that to the following function i have implemented and working fine.
=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(B4,' cmfs01home$peter[tracker data 4-25-14-a.xlsx]ControlSheet'!$B$2:$F$301,4,FALSE)),"",VLOOKUP(B4,' cmfs01home$peter[tracker data 4-25-14-a.xlsx]ControlSheet'!$B$2:$F$301,4,FALSE)
I have a formula that looks like this:
=IF(ISERROR((C101/G119)*G104)," ",((C101/G119)*G104))
There are about 15 cells with formulas similar to this. They are calculating a value for a row and at the end all of them should add up should equal C101.
The problem is the value that formula returns has to be two digits and I know it almost never is. But it ALWAYS equils C101. However because it only shows two digits somtimes if you manulally add up the value that you see it does not its off by +/-.01.
I need to fix it so that it does equal C101 AND if you were to add up the digits (with 2 decimal places) it will also equil C101.
I have this formula :
=SUM(LARGE((1-ISNUMBER(FIND({1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0},AQ10)))*{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0},{1,2,3,4,5})*10^{1,2,3,4,5})/10^ISNUMBER(FIND(0,AQ10))
But sometime the number 1 is missing ? see example :
3890 the formula return : 24567 so I'm missing the digit 1 ?
same for this one :
2340 the formula return : 56789 so I'm missing the digit 1 again ?
and for this one it's good :
2389 the formula return : 145670
I have attached a small sample of some data I am working on (the total is about 6000 lines overall spread over 30 worksheets), but I am stuck trying to get a nested vlookup to work.
What I have
A list of codes contained in 'A' and values in 'B'. I have grouped together the codes in colum 'A' starting with the same 4 digits, and gave them a named range. Columns G and H show all the possible range names. 'K' is a list of all the seperate codes (I know it is the same as 'A', but this is just an example to get a formula working)
What I would like formula column L
to lookup the first 4 digits in column 'K', use that value to lookup the range name in 'G & H', then using the FULL code in K, look for that in the corresponding name range and return the value from 'B'
I know how to remove the first part of a text, but not the end. I have a very large amount of data in which the first column contains a product description and then the UPC code. I need to isolate the product name from the UPC code into 2 columns. I used =RIGHT(B2,14) to isolate the UPC, but since the length of the product name varies, I'm not sure how to isolate the product name. I have looked at using the TRIM and TRUNC functions without any luck. 'Text to columns' doesn't work because I have multiple spaces, 'Text to columns' would work if I could used 2 digits as the delimiter, but the function doesn't allow that.
Can someone please suggest a function or formula for this?
Here is an examples of how the text appears in the field. (Note: I only need to cut off the UPC code, I need the measure information to stay).
some really long product name 12 oz 5 bag 09-99999-99999
another shorter name 2 oz 09-99999-99998
i have 2 coulmns in a listbox. The columns cant display more than 11 digits. So basically it would look like this 1.23456789E+12. I even tried playing with the Columnwidth but that didnt work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDuring work this thing stuck me that i have a column A1 an amount like 12345663..now what i want in column B1 the same amount but except first 3 digits..for example instead of 12345663 i want only 45663 in column b..
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen we give formulas say for eg
cell A5/Cel d4*30/365
we format for two digits so i get in my spread sheet cell as
60423.28
but it is actually
60423.28302
so over a period of time my figures posted in accounts dont match to excel spreadsheet.
How can i get the excel spreadsheet to not only show two digits but calculate to two digits as well So say if my calculation result is
60423.276 it should not only show 60423.28 but also be that way and not 60423.276

Pull Column Data (Sheet3) from Master.xls and past to Column 4, Sheet4 of WorkingSS.xls
I'm assuming this would be done with VBA or a really exotic macro.
The Funky Part would be that the WorkingSS.xls file column data is being copied/pasted too (WorkingSS1.xls or WorkingSS2.xls ect) the file may be different every time so I would need an insert in macro or VBA to "Choose File Please..." then continue.
The Master.xls workbook has spreadsheet lets say "Sheet1" in which I need all the data in Column A (except the header or cell A:1) copied TO WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column B, but Column B already has about 6000 rows of info, so I need it copied to the very end of (A:6001 although it will be different everytime) or the first empty cell at the bottom of that column.
next another Column from Master.xls workbook lets say "Sheet1" again in which I need all the data in lets say "Column B" copied to the WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column F. Caveat this time is that the data needs to copied to the same row as the first copy/past. So it would be pasted into F:6001. Double caveat is that the Column F contains no other data except for what we are about to paste in.
I have several more steps of automation to be done here but this is the beginning and a big hump I need to get past. The rest I think I can do.
I need to look up the name in E2 in the list in column A and if it matches then lookup name in F2 in list column b, if it matches then the corresponding number in column C is displayed in column G. If neither names are in the 2 columns the words"Not on lists" is displayed in cell in column G.
The other problem is one name is spelled two different ways I want it to look for both spelling before moving on to looking up the second name.
I started with this formula but I'm getting #N/A or "not on list" when they are on the list. I'm using ranges prod_sum is columns AthruC, Last_name is range BthruC. =IF(AND(VLOOKUP(F4,prod_sum,3,0),VLOOKUP(I4,last_name,2,0)),"not on list")

Even= 0,2,4,6,8 consecutive 024,246,468,680 any order of those values.

I basically I have a column with numbers. All the numbers are positive integers. What I like to do is have a VBA function that extracts the integers with the largest number of digits. So for example if we have the following column:
12
123
234
12346
2345
[code].....
So basically we search for largest number of digits, and extract the numbers that fit this category, which could be just one number or multiple numbers.
Item Quantity
A 2
S 7
D 3
F 6
I am looking for a ranking formula that will pull the data from the
first column based on the ranking of the second column
so that the end result will look like this
1 S
2 F
3 D
As S has the largest quantity, F 2nd largest etc
The list I will pull this from is variable in length but in the
hundreds.
I could really use some excel function. Within my office, we work with several hundred files. Each employee is assigned files based on the last two digits of the file number. What I need is a way to identify what file is assigned to which employee based on the term digits of the file.

1002856101
22781721
1044863815
1008799064
1044779765

I'm able to do a formula to get the term digits (meaning the last two numbers), but i'd like to have another column that can put names based on the term digit column. For example, Tom might work 00-04, Sally works 05-09, Greg works 10-15, Lucy works 16-21.. etc
I came across the below IF formula that is exactly what i need, except it only works for two associates and not the multiple that i need.. but it looks to be a good starting point nonetheless.
------------------------------
=IF(C2<50,"Sheryl","Lisa"). You should enclose Sheryl and Lisa with quotation marks as these are string values.
You can also use (if A2 is where the Loan # is):
=IF(Right(A2,2)*1<50,"Sheryl","Lisa")
The formula will acquire the last 2 digits of the loan and check it if it's for Sheryl's or Lisa's.

I am editing a wine database which contains a vast amount of data, one column has the wine name and sometimes the vintage year in the begining or at the end of the cell. Sometimes the year is made of 2 digits (03, 05, ..) or 4 digits (1978, 2004, 2005, ...).
Is there a way to remove this vintage year form the string?
to make matters worse, there is often a single quote/apostrophe in front of the vintage year, which is driving me mad as 98% of the time it is one of these hidden ones that cannot be deleted using the find/replace function.
examples are like below:
De Wetshof Finesse/Lesca Cahrdonnay ‘07
De Wetshof Sauvignon Blanc ‘07
Lord Neethling Cabernet Franc 2002
Lord Neethling Pinotage ‘01
Bouchard Finlayson Tete de Cuvee Pinot Noir ‘07
Jacobsdal Pinotage 1994
Zondernaam Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Tokara Red
1976 St Emilion
03 Tokara rose
Plasir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon ‘05
DuToitskloof Pinotage/Merlot/Ruby Cabernet
1999 Tradition Juracon 375ml
I have been searching the Internet for the past 2 days without luck on how to delete the end of string vintage year.
I have had some luck with the left side, as in:
=IF(ISERROR(VALUE(LEFT(B2,SEARCH(" ",B2)-1))),B2,MID(B2,SEARCH(" ",B2)+1,LEN(B2)))
As I am not an expert with Excel, I have no idea on how to use VBA (every time I have tried even basic things, I failed) nor even sure how the above funtion works (found it on another site).
I thought I could acheive my goal in two steps, first removing the left side vintage and use this partial result with the RIGHT equivalent funtion, but it simply is not working!

Ideally I would love to cut the vintage year, whether 2 or 4 digit, whether on right or left of cell and paste it in another cell, so to avoid manually doing it.
However, this is surely too complicated to do, so iwould settle with just deleting the vintage year and manually typing the vintage in another cell.
I am trying to filter my excel sheet based on certain digits in a column of part numbers. The part number has 10 characters. I would like to filter it so that all part numbers where the 4th character is the number 5 or 7 is listed and where the 5th character is a zero.
