Inputting a value in a cell and need to use vba to transfer it to another sheet in the same workbook. Need it to go to the first empty cell in a column upon clicking a button.....then change the value in the original sheet and repeat (upon clicking button again).
My code is working with respect to finding the right data, but it keeps overwriting itself on each loop through...I need it to copy/paste and then on the next loop, move down one cell...
I have a Rental Form that i'm working on, and to tidy things up when I print it out, I would like to move a cells data down 1 row if that cell is empty. Here's what I have:
cell b8 - First and Last Name cell b9 - Address1 cell B10 - Address2 cell b11 - City, State, Zip cell 12 - Phone # etc.
Not too many people have an address2, so when that field is empty, I'd like to move Address1's data down to it's position (address2). If address2 has data in it, leave address1 where it is. Simple right? This moving would happen when the command button is hit and the form data goes to sheet 1 which works fine.
in writing a loop that will check a number of cells to see if it is emtpy, if it is not, then run the macro. If the cells are not empty it will copy the data in that row and paste it to another sheet and delete that line. If it hits a cell that is empty, i want it to skip that row and move on to the next row.
here is the macro that moves the data. Sub movedata()
Range("A1:H1").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("Sheet2").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Sheets("Sheet1").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False Selection.Delete Shift:=xlUp Range("A1").Select Sheets("Sheet2").Select Rows("1:1").Select Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown Range("A1").Select Sheets("Sheet1").Select End Sub
I have a workbook which serves as a master database at work. it contains two sheets: current residents of our facility (let's call this Sheet1), and those that have left/been discharged (Sheet2). It contains 87 rows and 34 columns of info.
I'm looking for a macro that will do the following:
When I click on a cell in any row (i.e. I need relative references) on Sheet1, the macro will (once activated):
1. Select the info between column D and column AH (inclusive) on the row where the selected cell is... i.e if I click on cell F4 before the macro is started, it will select the info from D4:AH4.
2. It will COPY this info
3. It will paste the info into the first empty row on Sheet2, starting from column C (i.e if the first empty row is 200, it will paste the info from C200:AG200)
4. It will then have a popup asking for: a. 'Date Left' and b. 'Reason', with two empty fields to input the info into. 'Date Left' is (obviously) a date value and 'Reason' is a text string. Once OK is hit on this popup, the Date Left will be pasted in column A of the same row (in our example, A200), and 'Reason' will be pasted into column B (again, in our example B200).
5. The macro will then go back to Sheet1 and delete the info that was selected between Columns D and AH inclusive (in our example, D4:AH4)
The macro I have is looping all sheets looking for empty cells in a specific column, and when it founds an empty cell the value for one cell is copied to the empty cell.
But in one worksheet it stops with the error:
Run-time error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error
I have a spreadsheet which is linked to other spreadsheets. When I use "find and replace" on this spreadsheet, it causes one of my linked cells to move down one row. Why does it do this? This particular cell has nothing to do with the "find and replace" option.
I have no idea how to stop this from moving this cell down.
I have programmed in many languages but a noob when it comes to VBA. I can guess at the syntax but I don't really understand what I am doing. So I was wondering if the following is possible. I want to write a script that checks for a value on a different sheet (SheetA) and based on it being defined (ie not empty) copies the entire row to a different sheet (SheetB). I probably have around 120 rows in SheetA and will only expect to see 10-20 rows on SheetB based on the criteria for copying. I am also unsure if the VBA code should be for SheetA or SheetB. At first I thought I could just hide rows based on a value but I also need to export the sheet to a csv file and looks like excel exports all the rows, even the hidden ones and I don't want that.
I'm trying to find the first empty cell in a column on one sheet, then insert the value in the adjacent cell to the left into a cell on a different sheet,
Sheet1 contain daily input table which as follows: Name salaryBonusXX10002XY9001YY11002ZY15003ZZ12502AA10502AZ9501
Sheet2 have table where all the information is saved. So we can say this is database of sheet1. Which store every day information of sheet 1.
SALARY DATABASEMonth Name Salary Bonus
Problem:
I want that when I finished writing on the sheet 1(which i do manually) then with macro it go the sheet 2 and find first empty cell in the name column and past the all the data of sheet1 table. Months I will put manually. I am working on MS2003.
I'm trying to create a macro that when run, scans Row 12 (only after column E), Finds the first empty cell, then inserts the cell value from Sheet4 CellE8. Then the hard bit begins. I need it to insert cell info in all the cells below it, from different locations...
For example
A B C D
[Code].....
In the above sheet, I need it to go to cell D2 and insert the values from Sheet4 CellE8, Then proceed to D3 and insert data from Sheet3 D4, then to cell D5 and insert data from Sheet1 A7, etc etc
I dont mind doing each cell individually, but they will always be in the same column (and row 2 "Value" will always be the one that determines the next empty column).
1) 4 values contains in each row based on the values from those cells the max value will display.
2) if more than 2 cells have empty,NR or NA text means the entire row has to delete.
3) if 2 or more that means 3 cells having values the empty cell,NR or NA cell will place value with the condition of macro that is 75% of other values which is maximum among them.
I have a long range of cells (U3:AX3), all of which are empty save one. Is there a way to search through the range of cells, and return the contents of the one cell that contains text?
I would do this with a series of nested IF statements if there weren't more than 30 of them!
I am working in excel and for some reason when I hit the enter key it stays in the same cell. I never had this problem before, what did I do and how do I fix it?
I have a worksheet with running macros which hides & unhide rows based on input of data in yellow highlighted cells (see attached). I'm trying to make all cells mandatory. The below code works but I run into problems when certain cells made mandatory are hidden. For example if I select "Expense" as Type of Expenditure in the attachment cell C10 & C11 are hidden so if its mandatory I won't be able to move forward to next cell.
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) Application.EnableEvents = False Me.Unprotect "dawnwh81" Dim myCell As Range Dim myRange As Range
how to filter rows of data, in ascending or descending order, whilst still retaining formatting (in my case cell borders) and conditional formatting?
At present, when I filter rows in ascending / descending order, the cell formatting & conditional formatting stays in it's original position, rather than moving with the cell. I can't find a way to resolve this.
Is this possible using code: Copy Cell A1 and Paste in first empty Cell down Column D. This would be connected to a command button. Both Cell A1 and Column D are on the same spreadsheet.
I have a cell the has the date and time in this format 2/23/2009 8:11:00 AM; I need to get the time into another cell where I can then use another formula to see how often a persons name shows up within a particular time range, like =COUNTIFS(DATA!$G:$G,Sheet3!$A2,DATA!$N:$N,">=18:00,
I'm trying to create a tag with a color border. What I desire is to fill the BLANK cells around the tag, A1:D1 + D1:D19 + A1:D19 + A1:19 in a certain color based on the text value of the cell B11. There are 5 different values, such that if the B11 read Red Sox - the boarder is going to be red, if it reads Houston Astros it will be dark blue, etc..
I have a similar problem with changing the color of the cell based on the month. So regardless of the year, 2014, 2015, 2016, etc... If I use MONTH() function I can just get numbers from 1-12. I want Cell C16-C18 to be certain color depending the date entered in cell C17 such that for each quarter, months 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 they are different color.
I have had no luck with conditional formatting (and I also believe that it is good up to 3 cases only). I am decent in logic/programming language but have little knowledge with macro notation and especially how to run them in excel 2013. I do know how to start it alt+F11 and that I need to make sure that code is written under the specific sheet where my tag is located.
I've got a range of data in Column D approx 50,000 rows long and I need to go down this range and when theres a blank cell copy the info from the cell above. I've got some code which loops through this but I need to make sure I put "EOF and the bottom of the info to stop the loop. Is there a slicker way of writing this code?
I am using a worksheet to scan or enter students into a school event and determine their eligibility to participate in the event. Everything is working great but I need to do the following on Enter Student button click:
1) Cut scanned value (ID number) from input Cell A1 2) Paste value into next empty cell in column A (Rows build as students are inputted) 3) Copy Eligibility status (text) from column F into A6
I have a limited VBA/Macro background and have NEVER got a button to work.
I am using a IF(ISNA(Vlookup##,##,##)),"",(Vlookup##,##,##)) function, in order to remove N/A errors.
Is there anyway to convert the "" values to back to an empty cell without anything in it (i.e not text "", but empty as it was originally). I find that the file sizes are very large, when using this function, as data (although blank) is stored in each cell (i know this, because if I use cntr+arrow, it sees it as data, and not an empty area). I don't want to manually go through each cell and delete them as there is quite a bit of data (10000 rows , 2 columns, 30 tabs)
I am trying to create a macro that will allow a user to click a button, enter a text string that will be an email address into a field and have it added to the first empty row in column A or column C on sheet 1. I have not been able to record this with the macro recorder. The input box will be in cell E9 on sheet1.
