Multiple Auto Filters
Sep 25, 2009
I am trying to get a simple auto filter on 3 tables in the same spreadsheet.
I have seen this in other documents but have never been able to figure out how to do it.
Cells that need the auto filter are
C8 (Range C9 to C24)
C29 (Range C30 to C45)
C50 (Range C51 to C66)

I have a problem with the attached spreadsheet. I have certain letters (A,B,C etc.) that are shipped to various regions. I would like to have a count on top to count the total number of orders, but one that also counts the total number of unique orders. However, this unique count has to be dynamic and must be able to adjust accordingly to the filters (by default, if no other filters are applied, should be 15). For example, if I apply the "Ship To" filter to Canada, the total number should be 19, but the unique count should be 12. If I change the "Ship To" filter to US, the total number should be 9, and the unique count should be 7. I've tried to use the advanced filters but if I apply the unique entries filter, it is only a one time calculation. Also, the advanced filter gets rid of my other filters.

I wasnt sure if I could make a shortcut on the screen, such as a button that says "Reset all filters". I need to make it very easy for non-savy excel users, and would like to stray away from using any keyboard shortcuts, that will Be hard for them to remember, but I will use this if absolutely necessary.

I have a worksheet with an auto filter to display only non-blank rows. Each row is a ledger account, with a cost. The formula in each cell sums the total of its corresponding gl in another worksheet, but also takes into account the region I am asking it to search based upon another cell. So the cost in a specific can fluctuate based upon which region I am telling the rows to lookup. So it can be blank with one region and populated with another. When I change the cell that tells the row data to look up a new region, the auto-filter does not automatically update the list of non-blank cells based upon the new region being searched, but rather the old one. So what is happening is I am left with an incorrectly auto-filtered result.
Is there a way to get the auto filter list to automatically update for the refreshed list of rows?

Are there any events associated with filters?
If I have two sheets of data, where column A is NAME and column B is GRADE. Sheet1 is MATH and Sheet2 is ENGLISH. The same students are taking both classes.
Is there a way to make it so that when I filter by GRADE in tab 1, tab 2 is ALSO filtered by the same selection?

I'm using Excel 2007 and my objective is to setup a trading log that tracks my performance with charts that dynamically update to applied custom date range filters. The link below shows screenshots of what I'm trying to emulate with Excel 2007.
[url]
I have all my trading data laid out in a tabular format simlar to what is shown in the top screenshot. My tabular layout differs in that it includes 4 additional columns. My chronological data layout I'm using seems to be troublesome for conventional Excel charting methods.
When I apply custom filters for open dates and close dates, my Excel charts do not dynamically react. What I have determined is that I need to bypass the conventional charting methods used in Excel and focus instead on using Charts that rely on a VBA script or a formula. My objective is to have multiple charts (like the ones shown in the screenshots link above) all using the same data nested in my tabular trading log.
Can anyone out there help me out with setting up Charts that are more robust? I would appreciate example VBA scripts and / or links that will show me how to setup charts that dynamically react to custom Excel Filters, and can group together matching data sets in a column and show such data sets as a single slice in a pie chart. Currently, I'm getting multiple pie slices for the same data set. I need a formula or a VBA script that will clump together all of the data that belongs in the same group and show it as a single slice in a pie chart.

using VBA I have a control sheet which summerises variouse counts & totals of data held on a detail sheet. Bu using filters and counting the visable rows.
Statistics on 50 columns of data held in several thousand (rows) mixed around eight business regionsheld in first column.
I could determin the number of affected rows by using Tick boxes on the control sheet and applying filters to the detail records
A) checkbox indicates if I need filtering on the type of data in my detail sheet and apply the filter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=XX, Criteria1:="Y"
B) Because I could not have more than two criteria on an autofilter column I resorted to using Advanced Filter on the column with the Business UNIT's,
I Create a range write the criteria of the records to be filtered into the range, then apply an advanced filter using that range.
Both of these work well indevidually, but I am getting inconsistant results when I mix them
using the autofilter route I can select multiple tick boxes and the output is correct, and using the advanced filter I can select any combination of business units and the output is correct, however I cant get them to work together

building dynamic charts and filters, so What I'm hoping to accomplish to build a bar chart that looks like the following:
________________________________________________
Filter: State | Filter: Region | Filter: Segment |
Revenues |||||||||||||||| + (% of Total Rev)
COGS ||||||||||| + (% of Total COGS)
Margin |||| + (% of Total Margin)
-------------------------------------------------------
My data is built in the following format on a different tab than the proposed chart:
State: | Region: | Segment: | Account: | Amount: |
MN | Midwest | Major | Revenues | $$$
MN | Midwest | Major | COGS | $$$
MN | Midwest | Major | Margin | $$$
MN | Midwest | Major | % of Total Revenues | %%%
MN | Midwest | Major | % of Total COGS | %%%
MN | Midwest | Major | % of Total Margin | %%%
[Code] ........
It seems like it'll be easy to use a pivotchart, but at the same time, there's a lot of formatting to do, which makes it tricky, especially if I have many states to deal with and the multiple combinations.

Below is a simplified/truncated version of a data set that I am using in a pivot table:
Client Asset Return
1 Port1 10%
1 Port2 12%
1 Port3 11%
1 Port4 13%
1 Port5 10%
[Code] .....
I have created a pivot table and I'm using report filters for both Client and Asset (obviously there are a lot more data points). When I filter on Client 1 I would expect to only see Port 1 - Port 7 available in the Asset filter however, I see every asset in the data set. I need to pick and choose using the Select Multiple Items check box without having to scroll through every single asset. Is there a way to easily do this?

I'm trying to update a pivot table filter with a list on another worksheet. When I do a record and select two WBS for filter criteria I get the following:
Sub Macro5()
ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields( _
"[Receiver WBS Reference].[Rec WBS Element].[LM Master]").VisibleItemsList = _
Array("")
[Code]...
If I entered values 700UY0S1MGL1 & 700UY0S1MGL2 in cells A1 and A2 of Sheet2 in the same workbook, how can I get this code to read that? If I extend the list to include additional items, how can I get the code to read it?
My next question is, in Excel I could enter a partial search (like 700UY0S1MG) in the filter drop down and I could filter on everything with this string. Using the macro it seems as though the full 12 char string needs to be qualified. How would I write a macro to handle this?

Is there a way to have separate Report Filters for each column in a pivot table?
I am trying to create a pivot table with 3 columns - 1: account code 2.current year (2011) 3. prior year (2010)
My Row Label is an account code field - each row is a different account code that sums up dollar amounts for the two financial years. The problem is that I need Columns 2 and 3 to have separate Report Filter criteria. So in Column 2 - I need the filter to weed out anything that is not 'Financial Year 2011'. In Column 3, I need the filter to weed out anything that is not 'Financial Year 2010'. Setting up a filter for one screws up the second, and vice versa.
Alternatively, how can I make two side-side-pivot tables that each have their own Report Filters?

I am trying to do can’t really be recorded, at least i don’t think it can. I have a report that I run off and after I loaded it in Excel I then have to add in five columns at the end of the sheet. These are always in the same columns: R,S,T,U,V.
These are the formulas I have to then input
R =IF(G2="no invoices",A2,"")
S=IF(I2="Match",A2,"")
T=IF(I2="Sent to AP",A2,"")
U=IF(I2="Force Settled",A2,"")
V=IF( COUNTIF($R$2:$U$10054,A2),A2,0)
Note for column V, the range R2:U10054 would depend on how many rows is in the report, its just in this example the report does have 10054 rows. The columns would always stay the same. I would then copy the formulae down for the number of rows that is in the report and filter column V by entries that equal zero to give me the rows I am looking to analyse. Is this the type of thing that can be written as a macro so that everytime I have a new report open in Excel I can just run the macro and it will do all of this for me?

I have a workbook that has a "summary sheet" and then forty some sheets thereafter. Each row on the summary sheet represents a sheet in the workbook. For instance, i.e. on the worksheet tabs below it is displayed left to right as follows: "summary page"(sheet1), "aaa"(sheet2), "bbb"(sheet3), "ccc"(sheet4) etc. On the summary page, row one identifies the aggregate of sheets in a horizontal fashion, i.e. cell A1: "aaa"; cell A2: "bbb" and cell A3: "ccc" etc. I am pulling data for various parameters as columns on the summary page relative to each row (representing each sheet) via "SUMPRODUCT" and "COUNTIF" formulas. The formulas are a constant as each sheet's rows and columns are identical, the only variable in a given formula is the sheet name.
For example: =COUNTIF('aaa'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online")
This works fine if I drag and auto fill the column on the summary sheet, except for the fact that I have to manually type in: 'bbb' in the formula for the next row down in said respective column (COUNTIF('bbb'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online") and 'ccc' (COUNTIF('ccc'!$C$4:$C$16,"Online")and so forth forty some times thereafter.
Given that I am encountering this issue over multiple columns, I am easily going to have to manually alter some 300-400 cells at this rate should I not find a solution. I know there must be an easier way, I have tried creating a 'Custom Autofill List' but this does not translate to the formula bar and thusly will not fill the series. Additionally, I have tried to create a Macro but my lack of knowledge in VB and overall in this area of Excel has proved to be a difficult task..

I just want to automatically fill out the 5th column (Completed, In-progress and not yet started) based on the conditions set on the four columns. Although, the four columns have many conditions, it has been categorized with 3 colors. If all of the 4 columns are GREEN, 5th column will show Completed, If all of it are orange- Not yet started and if one of the columns had different color 5th column will reflect -In progress.

I have been tasked with creating a workbook that will take a time log file (excel) from an electronic time clock and import the dates/times into individual employee timesheets. The timesheet layout has already been provided to me and cannot change.
I’m really struggling here and would appreciate any help.
Please reference the attached workbook for the issues described below:
1) Sheet "1_attlog" is the log that is imported from the electronic time clock.
2) Sheet "Sorting & Filtering" is what I have developed so far that manipulates the data from sheet "1_attlog" into something that can be easily understood, it also matches employee #'s to a name, and allows for date ranges to be set that copies over to the individual timesheets. Please do not change any formulas on this page if possible.
3) Sheets "#2 Dan through #10 Blank" are all individual employee timesheets that I need to import the data from "Sorting & Filtering" and populate the "Time In" (column D) and "Time Out" (column G) based on matching the data from "Sorting & Filtering" sheet, "Time Clcok ID" (column D) "Date" (column E), "Time In" (column F), "Time Out" (column G), "Emp Name" (column I).
The dates on the individual timesheets have been linked to the "Date Range" (cels F2 & F3) on the "Sorting & Filtering" sheet, please keep this link intact.
4) The individual timesheets already have formulas inplace to calculate the hours worked after the "Time In" and "Time Out" data has been imported.

Recently ran into this problem where when I select(highlight) multiple cells, it automatically copies the highlighted cells.

This auto-copy also occurs periodically when I select(highlight) a single cell.
Notes:
1. I do not have a copy hotkey on my mouse, as this also happen when I use the trackpad.
2. This only happens in excel. When I select multiple items on my desktop, it does not auto copy.

I have here an example of how I might extract data from a source workbook and paste it onto a template workbook, using autofilter to find the rows that are needed. It is currently set-up to take rows that match "AREA 1" or "AREA 2" in column A, along with a number of other criteria in other columns.
What I want to do is add into this macro, a way for the user to be able to choose the filter options will be used for column A of the source workbook. So if they want only "AREA 1", they can choose just that, or if they want "AREA 2", or perhaps both "AREA 1" & "AREA 2", or further additional options. They need to be able to specify just one, multiple, or all of the filter options with regards to column A of the source data.
In effect what I need is a user input box or form with a dropdown menu that will give the filter choices based on column A of the source data, and then for the code that copies the data across, to do so based on which choices the user makes in the filter menu of the input box.
I have uploaded examples of the source data workbook and the target template workbook. The macro exists within the template workbook.
[Code] .....
How it may be possible for the user to be able to specify, one, multiple, or all available filter options for column A of the source data, via a user input box or form.

way for my engineers to save a field ticket with a certain name based on data from a couple of cells in the worksheet. Re: Auto generate "Save As" filename from text and tried to use some code posted in the thread, but I an still not having any luck.

ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:usersdefaultdesktop" & Range("SO1!M3").Value & Format(Range("SO1!M3").Value, "text") & ".xls"
End Sub
Would I click "general" or "workbook" in VBA when I enter this code?

I have two or more fields of data, where parts of them are auto populated based on inputs from elsewhere. That part i have working fine, however the problem arises in taking that information and displaying it as a Bill of Materials list on another tab in my excel file. I want to take the information, and only display it in the BOM tab if that piece of information is being used (ie item count field not being 0). I know how to do that part in a rather simple format, however i'd prefer to make it so that when i have the list, and a certain item isn't used then its not included in the BOM, and an empty space is not left behind. I would prefer this to be all be done automatically by a formula if possible instead of just having to resort to sorting the table every time the tool is being used.
Is this even possible in excel, A quick example doc is attached, shows 2 example fields. i'd like to take the information from those 2 fields. and somehow create a single list, with a single heading along the top, with all row containing a 0 "Unit Count" to be omitted entirely from the list, and not have a blank space where the item should be. Keep in mind these fields may be greater than 2, and may not be position one after the other in a strait down line.
