SUMIF Ignore Hidden Rows, Sumproduct/Offset Too Slow!

Jan 29, 2010

I'm using Excel 2003. The sumif function will not allow me to ignore hidden rows in my data set that have been autofiltered. I tried using the following formula and it worked:

=SUMPRODUCT(SUBTOTAL(3,OFFSET(CopiedB!$I$2:$I$65000,ROW(CopiedB!$I$2:$I$65000)-ROW(CopiedB!$I$2),0,1)),--(CopiedB!$A$2:$A$65000=$A22),CopiedB!$I$2:$I$65000)

The problem I am having is that the sumproduct and offset funtions used to ignore hidden rows are considered "volatile" and force a recalculation. Moreover, I have this fomula pasted 100+ times and this dramatically slows things down even when I turn autocalculate off. Is there another way to accomplish a sumif with a user defined custom function in VB? I really need to have the ability to do a sumif that ignores hidden rows and is not dramatically slow.

Sum, Ignore Hidden Rows

Sep 10, 2007

Is there a way to keep the Sum Funtion from adding in the values from Rows you have hidden? I want my total to be the result of only the visible lines, but have reasons for hiding rather than deleting rows (I may have to unhide some later depending on other factors)

Excel 2010 :: Copy Table (listobject) INCLUDING Hidden / Filtered Rows

Nov 11, 2012

I'm trying to copy a whole bunch of tables with identical layout to a master table, so I can create a whole bunch of pivot tables that include data from ALL the various tables. The source tables MAY be filtered, and I can't work out how to copy them easily while also INCLUDING any hidden/filtered rows while at the same time leaving any filter settings on the source tables intact.

If I use something like range("Table1").Listobject.DataBodyRange.Copy then it only copies the VISIBLE rows.

But I want ALL rows to be copied to a master table.

1. I don't want to unfilter the sources tables, because users might still want the source tables to remain exactly as the user filtered them. (However, it doesn't matter if the DESTINATION list is filtered or not). I realise that I could copy the entire sheet to a temp sheet, then unfilter any tables on that sheet and THEN copy these to the master list. But wan't to know if there's a simpler way.

2. I DON'T want to use SQL to create a pivot table directly from the tables, because the tables will have further information added to them from time to time, and so if I use SQL to make a pivot directly from them, I'll have to recreate the pivot cache using that SQL query each time, which might muck up the settings in any existing pivot tables. I realise that I could use SQL to copy the data to a 'staging area', and just point the pivot table at that.

3. I can't use PowerPivot, because its not installed in this environment.

How Do I Create A SUMIF To Ignore Cells Hidden With Autofilter

=SUM(IF('FT Line 1-RX'!$C$2:$C$2100='FT costs 1-Rx'!B$1,IF('FT Line 1-RX'!$E$1:$GT$1='FT costs 1-Rx'!$A11,'FT Line 1-RX'!$E$2:$GT$2100)))

Average Formula Not Working With Filtered Rows?

Average Non-duplicates Only For Filtered (non-hidden) Cells

Apr 24, 2014

how to calculate a simple average after removing duplicates. The trick is the average must work after the spreadsheet is filtered. I was able to make it work with a VBA script but the users don't like this since the numbers don't automatically update whenever they apply a different filter.

What I need: average (mean) value of (in this case age in years) based on unique ID#s that doesn't include duplicates (some ID#s are in database several time):

ID#
Age
Filter Options

11111
27
Option A

11111
27
Option A

[code]....

So if I filter by Option C, the cell with the average should return the average age of only the filtered ID#s but without the duplicates.

Correct age w/no filter: 56.8
Correct age w/option C: 59

What I have tried using: (reason for difference in cells on the equation, I condensed it in the above example so A=C and B=G)

This array works but will return hidden and non-hidden cells b/c of average(if), so it doesn't work with filter:

{=AVERAGE(IF(C3:C13C4:C14, G3:G13,FALSE))}

Also have tried the Subtotal 101 function, also with no luck: Note, a simple subtotal101 fxn will not work b/c even when I filter there will still be a few rows that are duplicate and need to be removed before averaging

=SUBTOTAL(101,(IF(C3:C13C4:C14, G3:G13,FALSE)))

Avoiding Copy And Paste In Hidden / Filtered Cells

Aug 5, 2014

I have searched all over and read many solutions for selecting only visible cells and copy pasting them or formatting them by doing Ctrl + G and selecting visible cells only. However the problem is once I select visible cells only, it seems that every time I do Ctrl + C on filtered Range it only selects visible cells. I want a way to toggle this setting in Excel. I'm using Office 2007. For example: if I want to select the entire range, both hidden and visible cells within the selected table array, is there anyway to reverse or toggle the setting that causes Excel to refresh the "visible cells only" setting back to default or all cells?

It would be a much faster way than to remove all filters, select & copy entire range, and then re-apply all filters again.

Error In Filtering Table - Additional Rows Shown / Rows Hidden When Filter Removed

Mar 4, 2014

I have an excel file with a table in it. It contains 2051 records (attached). This is just a sample, the original file has around 30,000 rows.

When I start using filters, I run into problems:

Step 1: Filter by Unit, condition (e.g.) Unit_23
Excel shows in the status bar the following message: 437 of 2050 records found.

Step 2: If I scroll to the bottom of the table, the row numbers are colored in blue (normal for a filtered list) however the last row is not colored and it actually should not be shown since its unit is not what I filtered for (its unit is Unit_25)

Step 3: Clear the filter of Unit

Step 4: Sometimes (depending on what I filter for), one or more of the bottom rows are hidden!!!

Autofilter - Ignore Non-visible Rows

Jan 20, 2014

I have a spreadsheet with over 20000 rows of data and have used autofilter to find the information I want to check. Once I have these rows I want to check whether the cells in Column AE are higher/lower than the number (in this case '3'). Once it finds a cell that meets this condition then it copies and pastes the whole row so that I can review the entry.

The problem I'm having is that it doesn't work all the time. I've tested it a number of times in break mode & played it throughout and it works as expected, whereas other times it picks up the top row (header) and duplicates it or it picks up hidden rows and pastes them in sheet 2 if the condition is met. I want it to just pick up rows if they are visible (using the filter) if the condition is met.

Here's what I have so far:

Code:

Sub Lvl3v2()
'Level 3
Dim i As Integer
Dim r As Range
Dim c As Range

i = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row

[Code] .........

Ignore Decimals In A Formula?

Mar 2, 2014

Let's say I have a set of values (A1:A10) where each contains a number, with a varied amount of decimal places (some may have 0, some may have 10)...how can I make a formula in cell B1 that averages A1:A10, ignoring the decimal places (rounding to the nearest whole number)

For example, if this was A1:A10

93.11
94
92.12321
95.1
96.7
98.1
99
100.03
88.6677
85.6675

If I did the Average (=AVG(A1:A10)), I would get 94.2498. But I don't want this, I want the formula to take into account the numbers rounded to the nearest whole number, meaning, I want to take the average of..

93
94
92
95
97
98
99
100
89
86

Which would give me a value of 94.3.. In this example, there isn't much of a difference, but I was simplifying the numbers for time sake

Ignore Inconsistent Formula

Aug 15, 2007

I want to stop those little green error checking markers in the top corner of cells from appearing in my spreadsheet. My formula is correct however the error markers appear in 40(ish) cells and make it look very untidy. I know there is the option of turning background error checking off, however isn't appealing to me as I have other worksheets where I want to check for errors. Also, my report is used by 20 people so I can't change the options which might affect other reports they may have.

What I'd like to do is either turn off the option for one specific worksheet, or add a few lines of code which sets the cell properties to ignore the error for each of the cells affected. I've tried to use macro recorder to work out how to ignore a cell but it doesn't record anything for this action. Is anyone aware of the correct piece of code to carry out this action?

Deleting Rows In Filtered Set With For Each?

Apr 8, 2013

I am working on solving a problem where I get every other row deleted instead of every row. The situation is that I am using Autofilter to find empty cells in a column that shouldn't have empty cells. Before I can delete them, I need to add them to an array for exceptions handling. This means I need to step through the filtered range and record each unique ID for followup, then delete them. If I delete as I go, the "For Each" doesn't work on the original rows, but works on an increment. This means a deleted row causes the range to shift up one, and I end up deleting every other row.

I know I can solve this by deleting separately from recording them, but am searching for a way to work with the "For Each" maybe using a "Step -1" or something similar.
