I'm trying to merge 2 spreadsheets togeather but befor I can do this I need to resolve the following issue - my Excel worksheet has 2 columns with data that looks like this
Value1X1,X2,X5
I need it to change to this
Value1X1
Value1X2
Value1X5
I have a report that I drop down into Excel that is a transaction report for securities. The data for each security is in two rows. I would like to write a macro that would sort each two-line group by a certain cell in the group. If I could make the macro request the number of rows and columns in each range and the cell address of the cell to sort by, I would be able to use this macro for many different reports. Also, there has to be some way of telling the macro where to begin and where to end. I have some experience with macros although generally I "Frankenstein".
I want to sort each row in an excel sheet so all calls are in alphabetical order without affecting any other row. I need to do this for about 500 rows. Is there any quick way of doing this without having to sort each row individually.
I am trying to figure out how to make a macro that can sort some numbers from Largest to Smallest within a specific range on multiple sheets. The range is only within column D starting with cell D11: (until the data ends) on all the sheets in my workbook (the number of sheets may change with time) except for Sheets: "A", "B" and "C".
In other words I want the sort to work on all sheets except the first 3 sheets which are named Sheet A, Sheet B, and Sheet C.
I have attached a spreadsheet for an example of what I am saying.
I am trying to consolidate an .835 raw text file that is full of receipts and payments into rows by specific values/characters. Once opened within notepad/text format, I figured out that the ~CLP is the referencing value/character used to break up each individual payment.
I need to somehow use the ~CLP as the value(s) to sort the text into new rows, with each row pre-leading with the ~CLP.
I have a workbook (Sort Test.xlsx) where multiple rows belong to the same "group". Is there a way to sort by a value (e.g. name of the test, date of the test, etc.) while maintaining the formatting and keeping the "groups" together? There are 3 sheets in the work book. The first shows the sheet as is, the other two are examples of how I would like to be able to sort the data.
Any way to sort each row individually to move all data starting with letters "BML-" to first three columns? I have a document with data all over spreadsheet multiple rows and columns. But would like to move all cells that start with these characters "BML-" into first second and third column. I have been trying to accomplish it for over two weeks now without any success.
I have a big database, each row is having it's colour. How can I sort by colour? I mean, data with one colour comes first, then data with another colour comes after etc.
I have two header rows on a sheet that I need to sort starting on Row 3, Column A.
The sheet is A-K and rows 1 and 2 are headers
Row 1 has merged cells of A-F which says "Information" and then G-K " Tracking Section" Row 2 is broken up into individual sub-headers in columns, A-K each one having a bit more info for instance:
Under the "Information" merged header in row 1 there is A2 Name B2 Work Center C2 C/O date D2 Due CC E2 Due MX F2 Date Received
and G-K in row 2 has different sub-headings.
I have tried to use my normal code, which is great for one header, but it ends up sorting the sub-header as I call it...
I need to sort groups of data by a single cell in the group, compared to other single cells in other groups of data. The groups are always the same number of rows but vary in the number of rows. There is an example file below. The red is the company name and the green is what I need to sort the group by, as compared to the other groups. This example only has a few, the real file has thousands of groups. I want to sort the companies by the totals in green...they are currently in alphabetical order. There must be a way to do this without going the VBA option.
BLANK CELL NAME ADDRESS CITY, STATE ZIP BLANK CELL
I would like to be able to resort the dats so that each line becomes a column BLANK CELL NAME ADDRESS CITY, STATE ZIP BLANK CELL
I know I can do it 3 cells/rows at a time using the paste special and transpose command but I have a 1000 names and addresses. How do I do it in one operation instead of a thousand?
I have created a spreadsheet to show some reports and I wanted to serch for some datas which overloops themeselves. If you can have a look at a test file I attached you will see the full picture. I have 2 tables, where the 2nd one is on the right side of the 1st one. 1st table:..............
I'm trying to figure out a way ( excel 2000) how to sort data over a range of columns.
Attached is a sheet.
So what I am looking for is this:
Bottom 10 for target 1, target 2, target 3.
I can sort them indervidually, but is there a way to sort the all?
Or would I need a agent column for each target to sort?
Or maybe there is a way to sort the data so it would work out that if they are in the bottom 10 of lets say 2 of the targets but not all 3 they would still show in the bottom 10?
I am using the code below to transfer data from a single sheet to approx' 200 sheets. These sheets are staff training sheets, one per staff member. This code works great. What I would like to know is, is there a way to then sort the data on these sheets in decending order? I have tried on sheet change but this seems to stop the transfer to other pages.
Sub Tranfser() Dim shtTemp As Worksheet Dim lngOutRow As Long Dim rngData As Range For Each rngData In Range("A5", Range("A5").End(xlDown)) Set shtTemp = GetWorksheet(rngData.Offset(0, 1).Value) If Not shtTemp Is Nothing Then ..........................
We are trying to sort a spreadsheet by the data in column I. This column refers to a state. I need help creating a macro that can sort column I so that different states go into different worksheets.
States ME, NH, MA, RI, CT, VT go to a worksheet titled 357899, states NY, NJ would go into worksheet 351835, states MI, IN, OH would go into worksheet 351857, and everything else would go into worksheet 351836. The main data worksheet where the info is being sorted from is named All_Accounts. Column I has a header labeled State, so data actually starts in Row 2. I need the full rows copied to the new worksheets while leaving the main All_Accounts worksheet in tact.
I have company asset data listed by item on wksht 1. Example:
Company A Computer 200 Company C Coffee Machine 21 Company A Car A123 Company B Computer 70 Company A Chair B14 Company B Desk C56 Company C Computer 59 Company C Desk C789
I want to sort and covert the column data on wksht1 to row data on wksht2. Example:
Company A Computer 200, Car A123, Chair B14 Company B Computer 70, Desk C56 Company C Computer 59, Coffee Machine 21, Desk C789
I'd like to do this via VBA/Macro(s) if possible.
I have to do this every month, so it would be nice to append the existing data to an "archive" file on wksht3 and then create this months data.
The data is imported each month via a text file with comma delimited fields which become the column data in the top example.
I have been asked to create an attendance worksheet where employee names and data are entered on a "main" worksheet and hours are entered on monthly worksheets. The names on the monthly worksheets are referenced from the main worksheet. Therefore, if I add a name and do a sort, the names on all pages will move, but the data will not. I imagine I will need an ID column to help sort. How do I make a macro to do the sort?
I would like to ask if it is possible to sort a range of row? What I mean is, if I sort like Row 1, the entire block of row 1 will move as well? Like if i have column A to F, then row 1 of column A to F will move together at the same time.
I have an issue with an export file which is produced in CSV format and needs to be aligned. I have attached a sample of what I refer to.
My Source excel file looks like:
ABC A-101 B - 202 DEF B-203 C - 100
The destination should align with the relevant column headers and place a blank if it doesn't match. Other have queried a similar thing, however my header and data and description is actually in the same cell with a dash separating them.
The output I want is:
A B C D ABC 101 202 DEF 203 100
There are multiple row of employees with varied column headings as its dependent on what system access the user has. The headings i.e. A,B,C for example is a fixed number of headers.
In my real data set the headers represents a 3 letter system prefix e.g. ZCR,ILP etc
I have a worksheet that contains multiple task lists, each having two columns, a "Priority" field and a "Description" field. The data should be sorted by Priority first and by Description second. The header row is 5 and the data is in rows 6 through 50. The first list is in A5:B50, the second C5:D50, and so on until the sixth list in K5:L50. I have a macro that works for one task list, but cannot get it to function for multiple task lists. Below is the macro that functions for the first task list. It is in the code for the sheet tab.
Option Explicit Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target1 As Range) If Target1.Column = 1 Then
I have a set of data (assume 2 columns, one with a long name and the second with a time). The names contain variables that must be used as criteria (a single entry may contain "Blue" and "On"/"Off") and times vary, based on when the Name turns "On" or "Off" [in minutes: 25 (On), 47 (Off), 89 (On), 100 (Off) and 137 (On)]. I need to create another table that automatically inserts values for all times, to include the missing times (0 min thru 24 and 26 thru 46, etc.). EX: If the first entry is "Blue-On" at "25 minutes", the cells from 0 minutes to 24 minutes are each "0" and become a "1" at 25 minutes - the following cells are "1" until 47 minutes (where it is turned off). (1 and 0 represent "On" and "Off", respectively)
How can I created a formula to insert the correct numbers into the correct places? I'm willing to have multiple cells with formulas and simply hide the columns that are doing the calculations.
I havet he following code which sorts data. If there is no data to sort I keep on getting a run time error. Could I add something to my code to prevent the run-time error, as sometime there won't be any data to sort. The code runs when I switch to the worksheet in question.
Sub SortMeetings() Dim iCTR As Integer Dim yCTR As Integer Dim zCTR As Integer
zCTR = 11 For iCTR = 12 To 23 For yCTR = 1 To 10 If Len(Range("D" & iCTR).Offset(0, yCTR)) 0 Then Range("AA" & zCTR).Value = Format(Range("D" & iCTR).Offset(0, yCTR), "HH:MM") & " " & Range("D" & iCTR).Value zCTR = zCTR + 1 End If Next yCTR Next iCTR Range("AA11:AA" & zCTR).Select Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("AA11"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _ OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _ DataOption1:=xlSortNormal End Sub
This is a sample of the data with which I am working. I know that a macro can do what I need, but I am only versed in Excel formulas and not that much programming. I need to be able to first sort the data by Column C ("Element Type"), then by Columns E, F, G ("Year", "Month", "Day"). Then, I need to be able to copy all rows that have the same "Element Type" and "Year" to a new file, using the same header from the original spreadsheet on each new spreadsheet - doing this multiple times until the end of the file is reached.
Ideally, the new files would have a strict naming convention: XXXXXX-ZZZZ (YYYY).xls, where the X's are the value of the "COOP Station ID" in Column A, the Z's are the "Element Type" from Column C, and the Y's are the "Year" from Column E. If this theoretical macro were run with the Sample Data file I provided, it should result in the creation of five new workbooks. Is there a way to write a macro to do this, or at least something similar
I am attempting to create a macro to generate emails based on data in a sheet. The goal is to run the Macro, and have it generate emails to send to contractors letting them know what they are going to be paid. For instance:
Name in Column J Email in Column L Memo in Column N Balance in Column T Due Date in Column P Week Ending Date in Column H
Now what I would like to happen, is to tie a macro into a button that will create the email as follows:
To Field: Email address from Column L Subject: "Company Payment Remittance Payment Date *Date from Column P*" Body: Hello *Name from Column J*, For *WE Date in Column H* you will be paid *Balance from Column T* for the time worked of *Memo in Column N*
Now the tricky part is that I want the email to contain all line items for each email address. So instead of sending one email per line, have the macro automatically put all of the information that needs to be sent to one email address into the message. I don't know if that is possible, but it sure would make my life easier if it was.
I have attached a sample workbook of the data that will be used
reformat a table in which data for each named person is presented in one row with mutiple columns into a table in which each named person has multiple rows and one column of data. The solution to to this has eluded me so far.
Need in displaying data by user input criteria, mulitple rows of display also need to display to blank out when no criteria is input. In example spreadsheet the criteria cell is B6 in "Results" page and needs to pull in data from the "Database" page.
I need to split one row of data into multiple rows. I have one column which consists of a list of companies and Next to it I have a series of attributes for every year. I need to transpose the years into a single column and next to each year I need the values of the attributes.
Have a look at the attached file : Abrasives.xls.xlsx
