Does anybody have a code snippet to search and compare 2 sheets.
I want to read the value in a cell on the first sheet, then search the entire second sheet for a match, if it does match then copy the value from certain cells on the second sheet to the row on the first.
I'm using the code below to compare columns on two sheets (1 column for each) and where there is a match, copy data from the 'Source' to 'Destination' sheet.

The code works fine, but I'd like to amend this, but I'm a little unsure about how to proceed.
The script currently compares column C on the 'Source' sheet with column D on the 'Destination' sheet and where a match is found copy column G from the 'Source' sheet and pastes this to column O on the 'Destination' sheet.
I'd still like to copy and paste the same columns, but I'd like to compare two columns from each sheet, so from the 'Source' sheet compare columns C and E to columns D and J on the 'Destination' sheet.
I am trying to find a way of comparing entries in one spreadsheet to another spreadsheet and generating a third sheet of those that do not match.
As an example, I have a spreadsheet of approved supplyers, with name, reference and date in each column, and a speadsheet of used supplyers, some with references and some without. I want to compare the supplyers used to the approved supplyers list by reference number (which are in the same format), and produce a third sheet listing all those that do NOT match e.g. unapproved supplyers.
I need to make sure that the third spreadsheet only lists each seperate supplyer once, even though they may have been used several times, AND it must also include supplyers without a reference number.
I will use this to compare many spreadsheets with the same data, but of varying length and would like to use a macro to perform this function.
I have found the following code on this forum that has really worked well. This code matches the first two columns of two worksheets and inputs them into a third worksheet. But I need to be able to copy up to five more columns, a total of seven columns and have it input into the third worksheet. I am not sure what it means "For Each c In Sht1Rng". look at the code and advise me of what I need to do.

I have two open workbooks, the first is called "Original Data.xls", the second "SIP.xls".The "Original Data" workbook contains a sheet called "Data" which has a list of information in the column range 'B:H', starting at row '4'.The "SIP" workbook contains a sheet called "Staff" which has a list of unique ID's in column B, starting at row 4.What I'd like to be able to do is compare the unique ID's in column 'B' of the "Data" sheet to that of the unique ID's in column B of the "Staff" sheet. NB.
There could be multiple records for the same unique ID in the "Data" sheet, but they will only occur once in the "Staff" sheet.If a match is found, I'd like to copy the row from the "Data" sheet and paste this to a sheet called "Matched", starting in B4, also contained in the "Original Data.xls" file.As each match is found I'd like to paste this into the next available line on the "Matched" sheet, and I would like, if at all possible, for the macro to continue checking for multiple entries until column 'B' in the "Data" sheet is blank.
I need to track only certain tasks id's out of entire task id database. I have 1 column of data on sheet "A" that represents task id's I want to track. On sheet "B" I have multiple columns of data, the first column being the task id's. I need to compare the column on sheet A with the first column on sheet B. If there is a matching task id, I need to copy the entire row of data from sheet "B" on to a new sheet "C". If there is no matching task id on sheet "B", I would like to copy just the task id. Each week I would get a new set of data for sheet "B" (which can vary in length) and I need the ability add or subtract task id's on sheet "A" that need tracking. Basically, look at the two sheets and add updated current pay to August. If new entry then copy to sheet B and update for August. If new changes, then copy to a new row in sheet B and update for August. I also only want to compare 5 columns in the first row for all rows in Sheet B. What should I do?
I have two sheets with pretty much the same content but not exactely. I need to compare the data from the first sheet to the data in the second sheet in this way:
data from column b (numbers) in the first sheet needs to be compared to data in column b in the second sheet. if this dosen't match it needs to go to the next line.
if the match is positive it needs to compare the data from column d on the first sheet to the data on the second sheet same column and copy the data from the first sheet's column d to the second sheet's column d. But only if the data in column d on the first sheet isn't blank. If it is it should leave the data on column d second sheet intact.
I have a template with a sheet dated the 1st of the month "Feb 1" Cell 2 also had the same date.
I'd like a VBA to copy this sheet, change the sheet names to Feb 2, Feb 3, etc, and also change cell 2 to the same name...
I've seen similar code to copy sheets and change name, but can't figure out with the date...

I am trying to combine the data in two sheets.
In Row A sheet one, I have "name" In Row A sheet two, I also have "name"
If row A sheet two matches the data in row A sheet one, I want the corresponding data in row D sheet two to move to row E sheet one.
What I am trying to do here is to compare 2 lists in 2 different files, and when there is a match, then copy and paste the related cells of the matching name. Sorry if this sounds messy, perhaps the sample file I have attached can explain better.
Every month I get a new file in the format of “Data Source” sheet where the list of banks in column A and the figures in column M, AA and AB might change from month to month. For the sake of convenience, I put the source data as a different sheet instead of different file here.
I have an existing report template in the format of “Final report” sheet where basically I copy and paste the relevant cells according to the name of the banks.
I don’t think I can use Vlookup because the cells that I want to extract are not right beside the search criteria. If I’m wrong please correct me.
Anyway, assuming a macro is needed for this, I am wondering if I can create a macro, where it can search the list of banks in column A in “Data Source” sheet based on the list in column A in “Final Report” sheet, then copy the correct cells from column M, AA and AB and then paste them into the correct cells in columns B, E and H in “Final Report” worksheet?
Note that not all the banks in the “Final Report” sheet are in the “Data Source”, so for this example, row 4 for ABN Bank should remain blank after the search because it is not listed in the “Data Source”. The Data Source List might also change over time.
There is also this problem of the bank names from the “Data Source” sheet not being exactly the same as the existing list in “Final Report”. For example in this file, ANZ Bank in the other sheet have all the extra stuff behind, but we know it is the same bank.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is best handled in the Formulas & Functions section or elsewhere, but this is my best guess. I have a spreadsheet used for tracking hardware issues with data in two worksheets:
1. PageCount
Column 1: Date
Column 2: Serial#
Column 3: PageCount
2. Tickets
Column 1: Date
Column 2: Serial#
Column 3: TicketNumber
What I'm trying to do is find a way to extract from those two sheets the date, serial number, page count, and ticket number where the date / serial # are the same and dump this to a new sheet. I've thought that I may need to concatenate the date / serial number together into a single cell or something, but I'm really at a loss as to how to pull this data. Part of me thinks this should be done in SQL, not a spreadsheet, but that's how our reports are produced.
If the name in Column F of "Sheet1" is found in "DataPEs" in Column B, then copy the block of 6 cells of data below it in column Q to column D of "Sheet1" in their relative rows. Additionally, if column Q has data then copy it, if not then copy the data only in column M. Finally, the number of matching names will vary in Sheet1 but will stay mostly the same in the DataPEs sheet. I've highlighted one block of data in green as an example.

Each has two rows of data: data1 has employee number in column A and employee code in column B. Data2 has employee code in column A and employee name in column B. Data3 has employee name in column A and employee email in column B. Now I need to pull the info form all three sheets into the sheet names final. So the final sheet needs to contain 4 columns for employee number, employee code, employee name, and employee email. The kicker is the data sheets don't line up with each other within each sheet it does but the first one in data1 is not the first in data3 and so on.

Each monday i get a new price list from our supplier. My job is to compare this list with ours and update if neccesary. The reason, why I'm writing here is simple -I need to automate the process. Since their and our pricelist is somewhat different, it's only possible to use selection comparison. So, I need something that can do this:
1. First I open those two files and make a selection on both of them (like all the apples on the supplier list and all the apples on our list)
2. Push a button that executes a code
3. The code compares a value in the first column
4. If it finds a match, compares the data in second column
5. If data is same, color the cell (or the text) lets say yellow
6. If data is different, update field in our pricelist and color the cell (lets say red), so I can find and recheck it later
7. If the supplier has a _new_ product, the code will insert it somewhere in our list. Doesn't matter where, it may as well be a new sheet
8. Compare the next cells in selected area
i want to compare two excel sheets and extract common data in either sheet. For eg: If sheet 1 and sheet 2 contains some common data, i need to compare or lookup or whatever i do but i need to pull out that common data in sheet 2.

I am trying to use a macro to compare data from 2 sheets and spit out matching data in a third sheet. The first sheet has two columns of data. the second sheet has 4 columns of data. Only one column from sheet 1 and 1 column from sheet 2 will actually have matching data.
All other columns in sheet 1 and 2 are associated to the matching columns and must "tag along" into the 3rd sheet. I would love the third sheet to have a button that I just click and it populates the data.
The macro will be comparing between 50,000 and 500,000 items. Possibly a good book to use or even a referral for a proffesioanl or even some good heartedness,
I would like to use VBA to search a folder and copy data from tabs within the excel files there. The data will be pasted to a tab of same name in the the main file. All the files are in the same format.
So far I have only managed to list the files in the folder using code I found on your site!
I have a workbook that updates from external source and creates sheets depending on a cell range.
I have put tab 1 and tab 0 on either end of where the new sheets will be inputted, will never know how many sheets
What i need to happen is if someone fills in "complete" in A7 in my "summary" sheet then the values in row 6 in all the other sheets get hardcoded. This needs to happen from A7 down to A26, so A8 = complete then copy row 7 etc
