I want to work out how many cells in a colums are "equal to or more than AND less than or equal to" certain date ranges.
E.G. Column A has random dates from 01/10/2012 to 31/12/2012. I want to know how many of these cells have dates that meet the criteria of >=01/12/2012 and <=31/12/2012.
I have searched on here and found COUNTIF which didn't work. I also tried DCOUNT which I couldn't get to work.
I think I am working all around this in Excel 2003 and feel like I am in the neighborhood, but can't seem to quite get there. On sheet1 I have 2 columns of 100s of rows. All of the cells in column A will be filled in with a date as time goes by (1-May-09 for example). Several of them may be 1-May-09 as a matter of fact. In column B, some of the cells will have a number in them and some of them will be empty. On sheet2, I want to construct a formula that returns a count of cells in column B that have a number in them based on a specific date in column A. For example:

If I could get the formula right, it would return an answer of 1 for 1-May in the example, because only 1 of the 1-May entries in column A has a number in the adjacent cell in column B. A formula for 2-May would return an answer of 2 since only 2 of the 2-May entries in column A have numbers in the adjacent cell in column B, and so on for the month. If I understand things right, there are too many arguments for COUNTIF. It seems that SUMPRODUCT should work, but I can't make it so.
I am trying to Count (or counta?) cells in one column if they have data but only if within a date range in another column.
So, in the example below, I would want to count how many cells in column E have data in them, but only if the date in column A falls between Jan 1 2014 and Jan 5 2014. (In this case, result should be 4).

In column G I have 1 if the item is a Map, this 1 is placed there if Column H has an x. In column N I have a date
I would like to count the number of Maps that have a 1 in G AND a date in N.
Column A has current building, column b has future building. Would like to count the number of changes without adding a separate column with an if statement.

I am trying to count the number of instances of dates that occur in a single column. For example, I want to be able to count the total # of dates that occur between Jun and July, then a different count of dates occurring between Aug and Dec (see example below). I have tried this formula: =SUMPRODUCT((E11:E149>=1/8/2008)*(E11:E149<=12/31/2009)) but it comes back with zero.

In the attached file I have three merged ranges, A3:C3, D3:F3 and G3:I3.
I would now like to create a formula in each cell in row 1 that will return the date in the corresponding cell in row 3. E.g. A1:C1 will each have the date in merged range A3:C3, etc. The merged ranges in row 3 may not all be three columns wide so any way to extract the dates to row 1.

I have two rows of data that contains dates in the mmm-yy format. The first row is the start date of the activity and the second row is the end date of the activity. Thus, in each column i would have an activity with its start and end dates. If i want to total the number of months taking into consideration only unique months (counting over-lapping months just once), how do i do that? These dates could have breaks in between, too. Like if an activity ended Jul-08, the next could begin Dec-08.
I am able to count the months using the datedif function, is there a match or other function that i need to use?

On one sheet (Data) I have a list of action items, each with owner; target date; classification and in some cases revised target date. I'm trying to report on these fields and provide a status, by owner and classification, of how many are overdue; due this month; due next month; due beyond 2mths.
Using a SUM array formula on another sheet I can count the number that are overdue based on date; owner; classification; and target date, but can't find a solution if there is a revised target date. Any guidance you can give would be greatly received.

I have a sheet where a name could appear multiple times in a 22 column data range. I would like to list all the names on a second sheet in Column A and in column B (and further columns as necessary) return the heading name of column where the name is found in cells next to the name.
I think Count If will work for giving me the number of times the name appears in sheet one but is there a way to return the column headings along the same row as the name?
I need to count cells withdates in theme in a column. So that would be a CountA function; but only if the values in the cells are within a certain date range, a COUNTIF function. Here's what I thought:

I have a spreadsheet which I use to track when a work request is recieved, when we confirm the request and when we action the request. I have been trying to write some code to count the amount of requests, receipts and actions we have processed in the last month.
My first column shows who the request is from
The second shows date recieved
The third shows date we send receipt

I am trying to search text cells to return a word count within a particular row of cells and I am currently using the following formula:
=COUNTIF($D4669:$EI4669,$O$3), where cell o3 contains the word to search and $D4669:$EI4669 the data.
However, this formula misses data that contains characters such as "," etc.
I am using a count if to look at a column C in a worksheet a and return how many time the word 'on test' occurs. This is then returned to a table in another worksheet. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to make a digital time card for my place of employment. I has an odd set up and odd date ranges. The pay period starts on the 21st of each month and ends on the 20th of the next month.
The time cards have 5 columns for each week starting on Mondays going to Sunday (also weird its not Saturday to Sunday) What I was hoping to accomplish was being able to select the starting month of your choice for pay period and have multiple cells update the week date range.

I have used index/match before to match and extract data, but I can't seem to wrap my head around this one. It's probably best explained by looking at the attached workbook. Basically, I want formulas in 'John Doe!B' and 'Jane Doe!B' to look up the Name and Date values in column A on the 'Data' sheet, and then return the time value that is on the same row but in the 'Data!B' column.
I then want 'John Doe!C' and 'Jane Doe!C' to return the time that is two rows below the time shown in 'John Doe!B' - I've gone and manually entered and bolded the values in the workbook to show what I eventually want the formula to do. The data on the 'Data' tab will be extracted monthly into excel from tracking software my company uses, but there will always be a minimum of 3 rows of time for each date. As you can see in the example workbook, some dates will be omitted for some people, and while there will always be 3 minimum rows there will often be many more time entry rows for different dates as well. However, I'm only concerned with the 1st row and 3rd row for each date.
I was originally thinking a vlookup for 'John Doe!B' and then a hlookup for 'John Doe!C' that references the value in B might work, but I'm getting stuck on how to ensure the formula realizes the differences between the data and dates for John Doe and Jane Doe.

I have 2 sheets in my workbook. On the first sheet (KPI) I have a cell with a date in, this is always the first date of a month. On the second sheet (MCR) I have all my data.
I am trying to write a formula (which is loacted on the front sheet [KPI]) to count the number of cells that contain a date that falls on or after the date on the front page, as such I have the following:
=COUNTIF(MCR!S2:S200,>= F8)
Where F8 is the cell with the date i.e 01/05/2008
When i run this I get an error, it appears that the formula is trying to look for cells that contain the date "F8" instead of the date,
I have this formula which is counting the number of cells in a column that fall within each calender month.
However, if there is a formula at the bottom of column B and C that yield a "", the formula breaks.
In my workbook, B/C:133 have a formula =""
I will need the formula in column E to work if there is a formula that yields a "" in column B and C.
I have a spreadsheet with a column A of dates April 08, May 08, June 08 etc. Adjacent to each of these dates is a value in column B. I want to select the appropriate value relevent to the current date and use it elsewhere. Therefore if it happens to be Oct 08 when I open the spreadsheet I want the value in column B, adjacent to Oct 08 to be represented.
