I think I am working all around this in Excel 2003 and feel like I am in the neighborhood, but can't seem to quite get there. On sheet1 I have 2 columns of 100s of rows. All of the cells in column A will be filled in with a date as time goes by (1-May-09 for example). Several of them may be 1-May-09 as a matter of fact. In column B, some of the cells will have a number in them and some of them will be empty. On sheet2, I want to construct a formula that returns a count of cells in column B that have a number in them based on a specific date in column A. For example:
If I could get the formula right, it would return an answer of 1 for 1-May in the example, because only 1 of the 1-May entries in column A has a number in the adjacent cell in column B. A formula for 2-May would return an answer of 2 since only 2 of the 2-May entries in column A have numbers in the adjacent cell in column B, and so on for the month. If I understand things right, there are too many arguments for COUNTIF. It seems that SUMPRODUCT should work, but I can't make it so.
I am trying to Count (or counta?) cells in one column if they have data but only if within a date range in another column.
So, in the example below, I would want to count how many cells in column E have data in them, but only if the date in column A falls between Jan 1 2014 and Jan 5 2014. (In this case, result should be 4).
I have a formula that counts if a date range is present. However I need to change it to count another column only if that date range is present. For example a17 a50000 the user will enter the date of the order. and in column B has the order number. I want the formula to count the order numbers for a data range in column A. Here is what I have but it is counting the dates in col A not the order numbers in B?
The data: There are a number of columns, but we'll use the first 2 first. Column A has the dates from 1/1/2009 to 12/31/2009. Column B will has numbers, mainly 0-100. One cell will have a 'report date' which is just a date.
The formula needed: I have a few cells labeled wk1, wk2, wk3. Week 1 will start with the 'report' date. wk1 I would like the Average of Column B IF the dates in Column A are within the 'wk'. wk1 = report date TO report date + 6. wk2 = report date + 7 TO report date + 13 and so on.
My goal is to have the formulas all set so that when we move to another report date and the raw data is added, I can just change the 'report date' and everything (the wk numbers) will automatically update with the new raw data.
The furthest I got was this, but it didn't work. =AVERAGE(IF('A3:A33>=VALUE(D3)
I would like to design a macro that can find a value within a cell in a colunm and copy a value in the row then count occurances of that value next time a match in the colunm is found on a different row, but also do this only if the date range in the row is within a specified range. So a multi-critieria search and copy operation.
To explain a little better here is a simplified example of my spread sheet that is in input for the macro.
A B C D E
1 PART NO. date in date out comp1 comp2[code]......
Column A lists the coponents found on the same row as the seach critria, in this example "12-3".
Column B lists the number of occurances of the components. This search is limited to a date range input by the user.
So what I can see is the components replaced and the amount of times replaced on a specific item over a fixed time.
*It is difficult to describe this problem without showing the macro output, but this is just an example for the purpose of explanation.
I know a bit of VBA programming and initially I started with an input box that asks for the part number and limit dates.
I am in desperate need of a function that will count a column of data where there are blanks and values based on a certain date that will also capture any data that is added after refreshing the table from Access. I have tried several functions but this is what I have: =(ROWS('TouchBack Detail'!$Q:$Q)*COLUMNS('TouchBack Detail'!$Q:$Q))+(COUNTIFS('TouchBack Detail'!$B:$B,'Nov TouchBack Summary'!B$1)). The result should be 3 but itís including all other cells in the column that are not and should not be included in the refreshed tableís data (Table_TouchBack.accdb). I have attached the spreadsheet for review. The function is in cell B27 highlighted in yellow.
I am trying to count the amount of cells in a column (Col H) containing data against a certain date which is displayed in another column (Col B)
Eg. Col B................-...........Col H 13/06/09.................FIRST LAST 13/06/09................. 13/06/09.................FIRST LAST 20/06/09.................FIRST LAST 20/06/09.................
So that in the sheet next to it it would appear:
13/06/09 - 2 20/06/09 - 1
The dates don't appear in row order and the sheet has a filter on it so I am unable to select the Col H and just use COUNTA
i'm trying to count a range of cells in a column. it seems basic but i can't quite figure out the code. i just want to count the nonblank cells, not the data in them. could i use something like =if a1 = 1 and a10 = 10, counta a1:a10 to count all the cells from a1 to a10?
I have a spreadsheet that has 36 columns and 6000+ rows. Each column has a mix of blanks and content, which is an X. See example of the pattern below, column A. I want to run the COUNTBLANK function through the entire column A so that it assigns a value in column B, next to the content it relates to. Line B4, B9, and B11 would have results, in the example below. I want to be able to apply a formula the entire worksheet, all 36 content columns, and over 6000 rows, so that I can obtain the results quickly by filling down, across, etc. I suspect a loop might be in order. Currently, I have to run the COUNTBLANK between one X and another, repeating that tediously over and over again.
---A----------------------------B 1 X 2 blank 3 blank
I need to count the number of non blank cells in a column and add a text string to the result to show, for example, "75 Clubs" as the result. I have tried "=Count(A1:A90) + Clubs" but this does not work.
I am using the following to count my blank rows. =COUNTIF(report!N2:N303,"")
Using a formula, rather than VBA, how can I modify this formula to accomodate a variable ending range. Without thinking I initially just counted the blanks in column N - yes there were lots of blanks. My goal is for the end user to not have to modify the formula.
I have the following formula in H2 =COUNTA(report!B:B)-1 which would give me the number of rows used for the month. I tried referencing the countif to cell H2 but, as of yet, have not been successful.
Is there a way to do this without using a macro, but I need it to be in a macro.
Column A has a value I am calling a label, ex. ABCDEF which occurs over and over. Column B has a list of animals, many of which repeat AND will be together if they do repeat. In other words, all rows in Column B with Cows are together, occurring in consecutive rows. I need a macro that will look at each row in column C and increment +1 starting at 0. That will be concatenated with the value in Column A and pasted as a value in column C.
See the linked spreadsheet tabs for Before Macro and how it should look After Macro is run.
Is it possible to have a column count up if two other cells meet criteria?
What I would like to happen (if it is even possible) is, if cell B1 equals CO and C1 is a duplicate, then G1 enters #1 for the first time it is duplicated, #2 for the 2nd time it is duplicated, etc.
Is this even capable of happening.
I am attaching my spreadsheet (TAB "AG Orders"). I filtered the spreadsheet so you can see an example of what I am looking for. I manually typed in column G but I was hoping these numbers could automatically populate.13-14 budget-AG test.xlsm
I am attempting to count a number of cells in one column so long as they fall within a certain date, which is located in another cell in the same column. I'm trying to account for a number of reports that happened within a certain week.
The formula I came up with was
But this returns 1 more then it should no matter what. Even when all cells within A_DATE are empty. it returns 1.
I know the COUNTIFS portion works to count the cells between certain dates.
Is what i'm looking to do possible or am I suffering from Excel burnout and just can't see that logicaly it makes no sense?
I have 10 columns and 18 rows. Every 2nd row might contain a number. I need to sum those numbers, however, sometimes group of cells in a row can be merged and i value of a cell is then 0.
A1 to D1 merged; value 6 A3 to B3 merged; value 3 B5 to E5 merged; value 2
=sum(A1,A3, A5) would return 9 - correct =sum(B1,B3, B5) would return 2 - should be 11? =sum(C1, C3, C5) would return 0 - should be 8? =sum(D1,D3, D5) would return 0 - should be 8? =sum(E1, E3, E5) would return 0 - should be 2?
