Copy Cell Reference From Seperate Sheet To Increment Correctly
Oct 28, 2009
I have two sheets in my workbook, and I am trying to reference one chart's value into the other. (attached)
I have referenced successfully by manually typing in the reference on row 2 for all values on Sheet 1:
Sheet 1 - C2 needs to reference Sheet 2 - B2. (Sheet2!B2) - no problem all the way across to F2. All those values are correct b/c I manually typed in the reference.
The problem comes when I just want to drag over that same formula to increment for the other cells. It's not incrementing the formula like I need it to.
So, Sheet 1, Row 2 shows how the correct values I need to pull over but was done in a manual way. Sheet 1, Row 5 shows how it increments incorrectly when I try to just drag/copy the formula over. What I need is for Sheet 1 - D5 to reference Sheet 2 - C3, but instead if I try and drag to copy the formula instead of manually typing it in, it increments when I drag reference D2 instead of C3.

I've got 2 worksheets in the same workbook.
Sheet 1 contains huge amounts of data - thousands of rows and multiple columns
Sheet 2 - I want to extract the data from sheet 1 column A into sheet 2 column A but only the data from every 21st row.
I want to be able to copy the formula automatically down, otherwise it will take hours to do it manually. So far I can only get the cell reference to increment by 1 each time after copying.
So what I'm trying to achieve is :-
Sheet 2 A1 = Sheet 1 A1
Sheet 2 A2 = Sheet 1 A22
Sheet 2 A3 = Sheet 1 A43

In my data validation I have the following formula as the Source: =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($F$2," ","_")). I want to be able to copy the cell and paste it into another cell and have the formula update to reference the new cell. Currently the validation is for cell G2 and references F2. I want to be able to copy G2 and paste it in G3-G6 having the formula update so it refrences F3-F6.

I am creating a spreadsheet which creates a bulk of data from a front sheet.
The question is:
Is there a way to automatically copy a fixed formula for 100 cells using one fixed cell reference such as $A$1 and then automatically after 100 cells replace $A$1 with $A$2, after another 100 with $A$3 and so on?
Explanation with Example:
For example, Sheet1 contains the words "Green Tree" in Cell A1 and Sheet2 will then place "Green Tree" into 100 different sentences such as:
Plant a Green Tree
Grow a Green Tree today
This would be created with the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$1& " today"
After 100 different variations using the formula I want to change that formula to reference cell A2 on Sheet1.
I know if I place "Red Tree" in Cell A2 and use the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$2& " today" I can do this manually using find and replace for the 100 cells, but I want to do this for 100 different variations of Green Tree to create a 10,000 different sentences so I'd need to find and replace 100 times!

I have a macro set up on a command button so that when you click the button, it takes the info that you entered and puts it into line form on a seperate sheet. I need it to clear the original sheet after this happens, but the way I have it set up, when you remove the info from the original sheet it removes it from the second sheet. Does any one have a sample form that submits information this way? I think I can figure it out if I could see how someone else has done it.
The form is set up so that the user has to enter their name and then go through a series of drop down boxes, and select the correct options and then submit the form when done.

I've got a worksheet here that i need to update every week. The problem i'm having is that i have a table of values that's drawing values in from another larger table. For example in B9 the cell is referenceing the I2 cell in another sheet. When i pull down the formula in B9 i want the cell below to reference J2 and so on. In other words, I only want the alpha characters to increment. Tried messing around with dollar signs but it doesn't seem to be doing what i want.

I currently have a workbook containing 21 sheet, named from Day 1 through to day 21. This limits user to 21 sheets max and makes it untidy if less than the 21 sheets are required.
Had a brainwaave ( slow I know) but thought it would be better to copy and paste sheets as they are required, this I can do. My question is can I automatically through VBA increment the name of the sheet so day 2 is copied and pasted but sheet is named day 3?

How do you define the syntax to copy a cell reference from one worksheet to a different cell reference in another worksheet.
This did not work for me:
Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate
Range("A1").Copy Worksheets("Sheet2").Range("C5")

I'm trying to copy a cell from one workbook and paste it into another workbook. Both workbooks are open so that is not the problem. The problem I'm running into is that in the first workbook where I'm getting the information the cell is tied to another. And the cell it gets the information from is running a COUNT function. So the problem I run into is that when I go to copy the cell and paste it into the new workbook I'm getting 0 instead of the correct number found on workboook1.

I have an excel workbook that has many spreadsheets (each one sheet has a client name)I have another excel workbook that has these client names on one sheet (on a list) and next to every name I have a number (i.e total turnover of the year).
In the first workbook (where every client has his sheet (tab named after the client) I want to have a cell that equals to the sum of some cells on the other workbook, that refer to the specific client
(it looks like this ='[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$81+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$197+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$313+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$429)
I want this sum to be added to every sheet of this workbook. each sheet refers to a client, so $J$81, $J$197 etc must be changed for the correct cell that refers to the name of the client. The tab names are alphabetical and so s the list.
Is there any way to do it, without re-entering the formula to each one?

I am trying to use a match function to determine which row information resides on so that I can update other information on that row but I am having problems setting up the match function.
The information is obtained from a combobox on a user form which identifies the correct address and then additional information is added to other fields on that line in the spreadsheet. PropertyListAll is a dynamic named range looking at the first column in the spreadsheet. the data starts in row 11.
My code is as follows, but I am getting error message 438. I am assuming I am referencing the workbook and named range incorrectly but I have tried various different combination all to no avail.
Code:
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim ws As Worksheet
Set wb = ThisWorkbook
Set ws = wb.Worksheets("Team Vals - Take ons")
rownumber = WorksheetFunction.Match(cboProperty.Value, ws & "!PropertyListAll", 0)
Sheet1.Range("tblTakeons").cells(rownumber, 2).Value = txtDate.Value

Basically I have a sheet that changes it's values depending on the value in C2. What I'd like to create is a loop that prints the sheet, increases the value of the cell by one, prints the sheet again and so on. Before printing I'd like to check that the value of e.g. B5 is not equal to zero.

I am trying to automatically increment a cell value then print the sheet. I need it to increment up to 220, or possible higher, and then print at each increment; 1,2,3,etc. as opposed to typing 1 then print, 2 then print, 3 then print...etc. Can this be done with a macro? I've attached a file if you want to view it (cell J2 of "NEW PART ENTRY" sheet).

If I ask anyone in my office they can easily tell me what the next line should be in this list. I can't figure out how to do it in Excel
=A5
=A10
=A15
?
So, obviously the cells are referencing column A and increasing by 5. That's it, nothing fancy. I have 5,000 cells to fill and it's increasing by 13 instead of 5 so I can't just do it by hand. If I highlight the first 3 and then drag down the next cell would say A8. Not even sure how they get that.

If I type the formula below into cell A1 and then drag it to cell A2 it correctly changes $A6 to $A7
CELL A1 =Planner!$A6*(BS8/20)
CELL A2 =Planner!$A7*(BS9/20)
I would like it to change $A6 to $A14 and then to $A22 as below. In other words adding 8 to the reference each time I drag it down.
CELL A1 =Planner!$A6*(BS8/20)
CELL A2 =Planner!$A14*(BS9/20)
CELL A3 =Planner!$A22*(BS10/20)
CELL A4 ==Planner!$A30*(BS11/20)

I'm trying to write a formula that will keep the Column ID static while allowing the Row ID to be reference. Each week my worksheet adds one line and the formula in question is moved one cell to the right and thus the formula cell makes the same move (1, -1). I need the formula to keep the column the same from week to week, while allowing the row to shift downward with the formula. I've attached a sample spreadsheet with the formula I derived. Check out the highlighted formula to familiarize yourself before running.

I'm having to copy formula on a tabulation sheet that compiles information from other worksheets, and I need to change the formulas in each row to refer to the successive worksheets. Right now I don't know any other way than changing the formula in each cell, and this is taking way too long.
Example:
One cell's formula: =COUNTIF('5'!$F$21:$T$50,TABULATION!C$5) In the next row down, I need it be: =COUNTIF('6'!$F$21:$T$50,TABULATION!C$5), then =COUNTIF('7'!$F$21:$T$50,TABULATION!C$5), and so on.

COPYING indirect formula. When I copy, the lookup reference does not change. My formula is =INDIRECT("'"&$A247&"'!j106"). When I copy horizontally across cells, I want J106 to increase, ie j107, j108 etc. At the moment it remains at J106 and i have to manually increase the numbers by 1.
How do I change my formula so that the numbers increase automatically?

I have a spreadsheet containing quite a few lookups etc. I am trying to copy a cell across about 10 columns. This has to be done for about 50 different rows on about 20 different sheets, so I am looking for an alteration to the formula to help me rather than typing in the formula over and over;
='Basic Labour'!AD6*Rates!$E$526
Say this is in AD6, then in AE6 I would require
='Basic Labour'!AE6*Rates!$E$527
and so on across the region to be autofilled...
(It is multiplying the same cell in a different sheet against the 'next row down' in a rates lookup sheet).

I've got a bit of a quandary here that my novice programming skills can't seem to solve.
Here is the scenario. I work for a photographic library. We have a spreadsheet that contains 5 or so columns, and a couple of thousand rows. Essentially each row contains an imagine code (the number we use to file away the imagine, ie. US_NY_NYC_1 ) in the first cell, and the image information in the following cells (ie metadata, keywords, photographer, date, etc).
so a typical row would look as follows:
Filename | Keywords | Photographer | Metadata | Location |
all the keyword, photographer, metadata, and location information can only be tied to the one image code whose cell begins the row.
Now, here is my dilemma. This sheet (lets call it the master sheet) contains all the images we have in a given batch. However, when a client orders images, we will send them most images in that batch, but not all, and we may send a few additional. So I have a separate sheet that contains only those image codes that the client requested. What I need to do is essentially take a code from the second sheet, find that same code in the master sheet, and copy over all the cells associated with that code's row. If the number does not exist in the master sheet, simply leave that row with only the code in the first cell, and the rest blank, and move on.
so for example, in my second sheet lets say I have the following A_B_C . I would like for excel to find that same code in the master sheet, and then copy over the metadata, photographer, date, etc, associated with that code, and paste it into the second sheet, so that that row in the second sheet now looks identical to the row with the same image code in the master sheet . If A_B_C does not exist in the master spreadsheet, then I would like excel to simply leave that code in its own row, leave the rest of the row blank, and move on to the next code.

if ,it is the same number to the sheet 1-sheet 4. it will copy the data of that sheets paste to the sheet (all sech data ). if it found the same reference number.
i attach with the file to see ,how can i do for macro copy code?

Currently I have a worksheet which is organized to have two pages on it. I will try to explain, i.e. imagine one page of the worksheet in the hypothetical range of A1:D26, then another page in the range E27:K50. So it is staggered on the same sheet. Is there an easy way to copy the range of E27:K50 onto another worksheet.
Aside from the regular copy and paste, I am having problems because there are formulas in the 2nd range (E27:K50) which loose their references once copied.
i.e the formula SUM(A1:A10) I would like to be SUM('Master List'!A1:A10) on the new sheet. Is there an easier way then going through all the formulas and adding the master list part.

i have a button that copies data from cell
A5:K5, and pastes it in Sheet2 of my workbook.
The data is ordered like this
------
------
------ button1
------
------
------ button2
------
------
------ buttonX
I have like 40 buttons attached to 4 rows each. And in that group of rows, i have some cells with an IF= formula, and some minor coding.
The problem is: If i press button 3,4,17,29 before i press every other button before that. I get an reference code fail at the cell.
If i press the buttons in order. Like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 - it appears smoothly.
More info: The button copies data from for example A5:K5 and pastes it into the next blank row of sheet2. But i want to be able to press button 2 before i press button1, without getting an error in my =IF cell.
If i press the 40 buttons in a row, and then starts to mix up the button pressing. It appears smoothly.

Basically, I need to copy and paste upon certain condition (references) and paste related-datas in another sheet corresponding with these references. Every references are organized by lines with indicators on columns.
In attached file, see:
- worksheet ANALYSIS:
* datas in E2, G2, D18, D19, D20, D21, D22 that needs to be copy based on reference in C2,
* then need to find this reference in worksheet called GROUP SAVE,
* and based on this reference, paste above cells value in corresponding "Indicators" column number
THEN, I will have to do pretty much the same with subgroup data. But I can figure out for this second step that request same manipulation.

Now when I use the formula SUM(Apple+Banana*Chair) and try to copy it into cell b50, It doesnt change the formula to SUM(B1+B2*B3).
