Match Data On Two Sheets And Pull Identifier Value From Separate Column
Apr 1, 2014
I have tried a slew of different formulas but I can't seem to get the outcome I am looking for. I need to make a station comparison for an individual project build based off a master list. Sheet 1 has the individual build with column A as a part number, column b as a description and column c as a quantity required and column D is blank. Sheet 2 has a master list of every part we carry formatted as: column a as a part number, column b as a description, column c as a quantity required and column d as a unique station identifier for that part (which is always a number).
What I am trying to do is match the part number on Sheet 1 Column A to Sheet 2 Column A, and when a match is found, take the unique identifer under column D associated with that part number and have it displayed on Sheet 1 Column D.
Sheet 1 will change with each build, but it will always be the same format in columns a,b,c,d. Basically I have a format on sheet 1 for what is needed to build each custom kit (787 kits) and sheet 2 carries every part we offer along with the identifer in column d (always a number value). I want to create a formula I can easily copy to match the value in sheet 1 column a to sheet 2 column a and add the identifier from sheet 2 column D to sheet 1 column D. The average kit is roughly 120+ parts so doing that for each part 787 times will be a nightmare. Also in case this matters, sheet 1 column A will have the parts arranged in a random order based on what is desired for that kit. Sheet 2 column A has the part numbers in order from our lowest part number to the highest number (basically an entire inventory list sorted from lowest to highest).
Example
(For sheet 1, since it doesnt carry formating 11111111 is in column a, nut, flange is in column b, 1.00 is in column c and the output data i want would go into column D)
Sheet 1
A B C D
11111111Nut, Flange 1.00 *Starts blank* -looking for - Output from Sheet 2 Column D (1)
33333333Bolt, Squared 4.00 *Starts blank* -looking for - Output from Sheet 2 Column D (4)
55555555Bolt, Coated 3.00 *Starts blank* -looking for - Output from Sheet 2 Column D (2)
22222222Bolt, Hex 4.00 *Starts blank* -looking for - Output from Sheet 2 Column D (11)
44444444Bolt, Screw Type 2.00 *Starts blank* -looking for - Output from Sheet 2 Column D (3)
Sheet 2
A B C D
11111111Nut, Flange 1.00 1
22222222Bolt, Hex 4.00 11
33333333Bolt, Squared 4.00 4
44444444Bolt, Screw Type 2.00 3
55555555Bolt, Coated 3.00 2
I need to look up the name in E2 in the list in column A and if it matches then lookup name in F2 in list column b, if it matches then the corresponding number in column C is displayed in column G. If neither names are in the 2 columns the words"Not on lists" is displayed in cell in column G.
The other problem is one name is spelled two different ways I want it to look for both spelling before moving on to looking up the second name.
I started with this formula but I'm getting #N/A or "not on list" when they are on the list. I'm using ranges prod_sum is columns AthruC, Last_name is range BthruC. =IF(AND(VLOOKUP(F4,prod_sum,3,0),VLOOKUP(I4,last_name,2,0)),"not on list")
As part of report consolidation I need a Macro that can read through all the files in a particular location(Say a folder path) Pull the data for each unique products into separate sheet
In the example below : All the rows with "Chocolates to sheet 1" , Drink to Sheet 2 and so on Since the products in column 3 can vary the unique sheets need to be created at run time based on the source data
In the attached sheet, i have data in 2 sheets in the same fromat. Both the sheets are seperate reports.
Coloumn A is the list of Team Ids, Coloumn B is the Ids of people who are assigned in the team. Sheet 2 also have the same details with changes in the people ID.
i am trying to find if the people IDs in report 1 is the same in report 2. i need a formula that will check if the people ID is matching to the same team ID as in report 1.. If its not the same, the formula should be able to show that.
eg :
In report 1, "197595" in coloumn B is against "4011-11341" in Coloumn A.
I need to check if "197595" is against "4011-11341" or some other number in report 2. If "197595" is not against "4011-11341" in report 2, it should show me " Miss match". if "197595" is is against "4011-11341" in report 2 as well, it should show me "match"Project match.xlsx
I have a column on sheet 1 which contains 200 lines with a unique number in each row (account codes). I have another sheet (sheet 2) which contains the same column. sometimes an extra row for an extra account code is added to the col in sheet 1. I need to make sure that the col I have in sheet 2 always has exactly the same as the col in sheet one, where the same account code should never be repeated. I am currently trying to setup a sheet where I keep all the checks and controls.
I've created 12 identical work sheets for the year, each has 6 columns of data and 87 rows all containing different information (letters, numbers, dates and characters).
I've also set up a "Conditional Format" rule so that any identical information triggers a strikeout (line through the cell entries) of the entire row for both lines of offending duplicating data. To do so, I created a use cell off to the side (in column AT) with the command =CONCATENATE (u41,v41,w41...) which condenses all data into 1 cell.
Afterwards, I went into Conditional Formatting and created the strikeout command with =COUNTIF($A$T$29:$A$T$116,$AT29)>1; where the $AT29 reference simply identifies the cell to the left and then continues down.
This has worked well but I'm stumped. Now I want the reference to extend to the previous month, lets say I'm in February and want to extend the search to Januarys AT29:AT116 review.
simply use a reference in the COUNTIF formula in the Conditional Formatting rule that takes the search through to the January work sheet, then I can simply duplicate the command for the March sheet which will then review all 3.
I have on inventory sheet that has all the data in each cell 2612 to be exact! That changes month to month with deletions.
The format is: Sheet 2 A/B/ 334702/UEMR88QX 334703/UEMR85QX 334704/UEMR81QX 334707/UEMR8JQX
The master worksheet has about 5000 items and the (A and B) data are both on it with other data ranging from (A-Y). My question is how do I have a cell look up data and return that it exists or doesn’t exist on the inventory sheet?
My other problem I need to take that months inventory list and have it look at the master list and return the system number from the master list (B) next to the matching inventory number (C). Allowing me to cross match inventory to master each month and save inventory worksheet each month.
I know I can copy the column and past is as a value so I won’t lose the numbers as the master changes but getting the data onto that months inventory has been a pain.
I have been attempting to solve a problem for quite some time and would love any help anyone can provide. I'm on Win XP, Excel 2003.
I have a series of assets each with a unique number to identify it in it's own row. In a separate worksheet I have a column with just these numbers next to a column with a word assigned to each number. Some are only listed once but many are listed multiple times. I was looking for a function that will retrieve the information in the second worksheet and place it in the row that it corresponds to the number in the first sheet. I've listed an idea of what it looks like below. I'm looking for it to search for every instance of that number and provide what's next to it. The first set of information is what I have, the last is what I'd like it to look like.
I am trying to pull peoples names from 3 diferent tabs into one column in a separate tab. But if a name is shown more than once only display it once. How can I do this?
I have a Sheet in a workbook that has about 250 Unique supervisors in it (column A) It has about 2300 rows of employees. Is there a macro that can take the employees supervisor column (A) and break the rows associated to that supervisor into a new sheet & and name the sheet with the supervisor’s name? Can excel have 250 sheets (2003 version)?
I have an excel workbook with 2 worksheets. One worksheet shows the MASTER LIST of COMPLETE Customer Names (e.g. ABB Supplies Incorporated). The other worksheet has information on customers but the customer names typed in are incomplete (e.g. ABC Supplies). I need a macro that would look do a comparison of the customer names in the 2nd worksheet to the Master List worksheet and pull the data (complete name, address, etc.) for those that would match (partial match since company name is 2nd worksheet is usually incomplete).
What im trying to do is match columns A & B from AUDIT Sheet to Columns A & B in MASTER sheet. If they match then pull columns C, D & E from MASTER into AUDIT.
I am faced with a challenge of identifying all the probable duplicate issue of Id cards for a list of some 50000 students.
There is a list of student names in Column A with associated fields in subsequent columns.
I would like to use either first name or last name as keyword and pull all the data(all the columns) that either partially or fully match the keyword in second sheet.
I have attached a sample workbook for this : STUDENT MASTER.xlsx‎
I have tried vlookup but it pulls only one data set.
I'm working on a sheet trying to keep track on which client is working with which employee. The first sheet shows tracking for the year and each additional sheet is the month. Basically the Yearly sheet is there so I can quickly control+f "client name" and see which employee he or she is working with.
I attached a simple version of the workbook but basically it basically looks like this: Yearly sheet - Row 1 is the employees name, Row 2 is the month, and the rows after that are the clients name until it gets to the next month. January sheet - cell A1 says client, Cell B1 says employee. I'm inputing the clients in column A and the employee in column B and using this formula for the Yearly sheet (starting in row 3) =IF(January!$B2=Yearly!A$1,January!$A2,"")
This is working for what it's supposed to do, but it's not pretty and leaves a lot of of blank cells. Is there a simpler way of doing this?
I have one excel 2010 workbook with 5 work sheets, each work sheet contains a list with first/last name(one column) and the company name, some have a 3rd column with their email address in each sheet represents each year starting at 2008 thru to 2013 i have to find out if the people that attended an event in 2008 also attended it in 2009/10/11/12/13 and if they didnt, put their name and company name onto a blank worksheet within the same workbook without using a macro, how can i do this?
I have a "main data"Test.xlsx sheet wherein I have to populate 4 columns from 2 other sheets.
E.g.: In master data tab, I have (PID,EMP ID,Name,Address,Join Date, Exit Date). Now i am trying to get the PID & Address from another tab called "PID,Address". To get the PID & address, i will use EMP ID as reference to fetch data.
Similarly, I have to pull Join & Exit dates from the tab "Dates Sheet" with same EMP ID.
I have a home tab, wherein I have a button which is assigned a macro to reconcile the data.
I know that I can do this with simple vlookup for all the columns, but the actual data is very huge and it may vary daily. So its time consuming process. So i want to this reconciliation (consolidation) using macro. How to generate a macro.
I think VLookup is what I need to use, but am unfamiliar with how to use it. The attached file will explain a little more about what I would like to do. I have an inventory summary from 2007 and 2008. Each year has its own sheet. Each record has two fields that need to match on the summary sheet. If the two fields match, the summary sheet should return a total in the third field. It's more clearly explained in the file itself.
I'm having some difficulty getting ISERROR to work in certain cells that pull data from other sheets in my workbook. I have had no trouble getting it to work in cells that do not take data from other sheets.
This formula: =IF(ISERROR(DATEDIF($E$2,D18,"d")),"-",(DATEDIF($E$2,D18,"d"))) is an example of how I successfully got the function to work. All is well with this.
However, on a different sheet using these two formula: ='Mike Anderson'!A68 and ='Mike Anderson'!J536:L536 I could not get the ISERROR formula to work.
Unfortunately, I'm enough of a novice using Excel, that I don't know if I'm doing something wrong with the formula or if it's just not designed to work with values from another sheet. This is how I was trying to make the formula work =IF(ISERROR('Mike Anderson'!J536:L536,"",'Mike Anderson'!J536:L536)). Doing so this way created an error in which the little Excel helper guy that pops up highlighted the quotes inside the formula.
The error message I'm trying to get to not display using the "" is just a #DIV/0 message that fills the cell until some data is entered into the sheet.
I have a spreadsheet with 12 tabs (one for each month of the year). What I need is a macro/function that on execution will pull all rows from each sheet that has the word "overdue" in cell E from E9 down. I need the whole row of data being taken into a new sheet.
So for example, in each sheet there could be the word overdue appearing in 30 out of 500 rows I need those complete rows (A to Y) being put into another sheet for ease. At the moment I am filtering each sheet and copying and pasting into a new sheet for each bloody sheet (LOOOONG way).
The worksheets are titled: Jan 14, Feb 14, March 14, April 14, June 14, July 14, Aug 14, Sept 14, Oct 14, Nov 14, Dec 14
So I am trying to pull data from multiple sheets. I've gone through the thread, but haven't found an answer yet (or didn't work hard enough). On Sheet1, yellow highlighted column, I am trying to look up the I.D. Code for 36 month residuals. As you can see, I have to use multiple conditions on different worksheets.
I have to use most of Sheet1 columns to find the answer. I just can't figure the formula out.
I have a raw data worksheet with 54000 lines, in the format of six columns
In Column A is the USER Name
What I would like with if possible is code that will move the six columns of data from each individual USER into separate sheets, using Column A as the basis of the new sheets, ie the last row for each user is when the user name changes to the next one.
I'm currently using the following code (that I found online) to take a list of data and copy it to specific sheets based on the values in Column C (there are only 4 columns in my data set). The issue I have with it is that it's meant to create the sheets from scratch every time. What I could like, however, is for it to copy the data to preexisting tabs that are already named with the sames values that are found in Column C. This macro will actually perform that but the down side is it wipes out everything that's on those sheets but I cant have it do that. Is there a way to either modify this sheet so it only copies the four columns and only pastes the four columns onto the sheets?
Sub SplitData() Const NameCol = "C" Const HeaderRow = 2
I'm not including my spreadsheet because it has company information however, I will try to articulate my request as best I can. I currently have an Excel spreadsheet with about 20 worksheets, I would like to be able to click on the first worksheet, create a "Drop Down box" or "Data Validation" box or whatever I need to do to be able to view information in a range of cells on ANOTHER worksheet within the same workbook.
I've tried Data Validation, Drop Down Boxes, Define name ranges, all to NO avail. I'm missing a step somewhere, because I'm still not able to view the information on the first worksheet.
If the name in Column F of "Sheet1" is found in "DataPEs" in Column B, then copy the block of 6 cells of data below it in column Q to column D of "Sheet1" in their relative rows. Additionally, if column Q has data then copy it, if not then copy the data only in column M. Finally, the number of matching names will vary in Sheet1 but will stay mostly the same in the DataPEs sheet. I've highlighted one block of data in green as an example.
I have a workbook with two sheets the first one is called "SDL" contain master data for three TEAMS (TEAM.A, TEAM.B & TEAM.C") and the second worksheet is called "SDL_Calendar" for graphical chart view.
I need Macro to copy the relevant column data from "SDL" sheet and paste into appropriate column in "SDL_Calendar" sheet then make separate sheets for each "TEAM".
I have attached the work book of what I am trying to accomplish.
Is it possible to have a single userform put data into two separate sheets within the same workbook.
I have a userform set up for entering client data into a quote register, with no problems ( sheet 1)
A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9
What I would like is for the data to also go to sheet 2, where I have a form set up to print off for our technicians to take on site.
The problem will be that I would like the data A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9 not to store on this sheet after it is printed, so the next set on entries , can be printed etc.etc
I am trying to use a macro to compare data from 2 sheets and spit out matching data in a third sheet. The first sheet has two columns of data. the second sheet has 4 columns of data. Only one column from sheet 1 and 1 column from sheet 2 will actually have matching data.
All other columns in sheet 1 and 2 are associated to the matching columns and must "tag along" into the 3rd sheet. I would love the third sheet to have a button that I just click and it populates the data.
The macro will be comparing between 50,000 and 500,000 items. Possibly a good book to use or even a referral for a proffesioanl or even some good heartedness,
Pull Column Data (Sheet3) from Master.xls and past to Column 4, Sheet4 of WorkingSS.xls
I'm assuming this would be done with VBA or a really exotic macro.
The Funky Part would be that the WorkingSS.xls file column data is being copied/pasted too (WorkingSS1.xls or WorkingSS2.xls ect) the file may be different every time so I would need an insert in macro or VBA to "Choose File Please..." then continue.
The Master.xls workbook has spreadsheet lets say "Sheet1" in which I need all the data in Column A (except the header or cell A:1) copied TO WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column B, but Column B already has about 6000 rows of info, so I need it copied to the very end of (A:6001 although it will be different everytime) or the first empty cell at the bottom of that column.
next another Column from Master.xls workbook lets say "Sheet1" again in which I need all the data in lets say "Column B" copied to the WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column F. Caveat this time is that the data needs to copied to the same row as the first copy/past. So it would be pasted into F:6001. Double caveat is that the Column F contains no other data except for what we are about to paste in.
I have several more steps of automation to be done here but this is the beginning and a big hump I need to get past. The rest I think I can do.
I am looking for a ranking formula that will pull the data from the first column based on the ranking of the second column so that the end result will look like this 1 S 2 F 3 D As S has the largest quantity, F 2nd largest etc
The list I will pull this from is variable in length but in the hundreds.
