i would like a look up function that I can type in a referance so it will give me the value in the same colum in the row below.
so if the referance was sample 2 it would give me sample 3

Excel 2007. I have a graph (bar) on a seperate sheet from my data. Data has been dumpted to Excel from Access not all fields (cells) are wanted to be graphed. HOWEVER 2 fields (cells) need to be displayed on the graph in a text box Along with text. So I need the text box on the graph to look like this

I am currently trying to autofill a column or use a formula to try and autofill. I know how to do the dragging thing but that is too time consuming as I have about 30,000 rows and this needs to be done weekly. I know there's a way to do it but I forgot. Basically if you look at the first number below (ends in 0612), I want it to fill all the cells that are underneath it until it reaches the next number (which ends in 0856 below), then I want to fill all the blank cells(that end in 0856) with the 0856 number and continue down.
Is there maybe a formula that I can create in the column next to this and have it do it that way, or is there an option that will let me do this by highlighting the column.
I have a spreadsheet reports on tasks that is updated daily.
At the end of the columns is a due date column and a status colour column where 4 options are possible:
Red = out of target, yellow = on target, brown = still on target but at risk, and green = on target.
I have been asked to see if there is some way of making the status colour column automated so that as task pass their due date and are not complete or are complete, the status field changes automatically.
I have added the feature in =today() in cell A1 and another column next to due date date completed. I think these will help but not sure how to get the status colum to update automatically. I've tried using the IF function but that only returns text...
I would like to have something that looks like a running total, but isn't.
I have in a colomn 'rate' and after that a column for each month in a year.
I would like to have at the bottom a total cost, so rate x hours.

I am using Excel 2008 for Mac. I have a spreadsheet that I am essentially using as a simple cheque ledger so that I can keep track of who I have written cheques to, for what amount, and what has already cleared. I have a the following columns:

In the 'Cleared?' column I mark an X when it has cleared the bank. I'm trying to find a way to get the SUM of the whole 'Cheque Amount' column that hasn't cleared (ie: has nothing in the 'cleared' column).
I need to copy specific rows that have a specific value in colum B and Colum M to new worksheets.
So from below attached screenshot , say for an example macro shud filter rows that have "BigPond" in coloum B ,"RG2" in column M & "INT" in column W and i dont want all cells in these rows , i only want copy cells under column C,AK,AL,AM (in this order) to my other excel sheet that is named "BigPond" and it should paste it starting from Row5.

Once all the information has been completed throughout the workbook, is there a code that could transfer specific data on each page to a different colum on that same page? I need to do this for 9 pages at one time. The information is listed differently on each page. I have an Inventory Workbook were Item codes in Left column and Date in top row. I am using the Vlookup formula Its displays only the first value. If their are repeated dates for the same Item code I want to sumup the value according to the Date for that Item code. find the attached sample file

Im trying to figure out to give a certain word a numeric valuve in excel?. Lets say that the word "car" has the valuve of 10, and the word bus has a value of 20. Have found one possible way to get around being forced to give a certain word a value by doing alittle macro, but havent got it to work yet (and im not sure if its even possible to get it to work), I have a post in the macro section about it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a formula now that is =right(C2,5)+0 that is working well. However the data has grown and sometimes there is also 6 digits now instead of 5. So I need it to pick up either one 5 or 6. When I change the formula to 6 it works but picks up a / which happens to be before the 5 digit # sequence when there is only 5 digits. It works great for the 6. Is there another way around this so I only get the numbre digits if there are 5 or 6 and not the /. Maybe an if statement. I've tried several ways but none work right. The only other thing I can think of is to get it as above with the =right(C2,6)+0 and then afterwards to a find and replace and remove the / from the data. I was just tryign not to add an extra step to the process. Any ideas please?

I'm trying to write a Macro that, in the active sheet (which contains plenty of data), deletes rows according to several criteria, for example:
- if cell(i, ar1(j)) = ERROR, delete row i and shift 1 up
(ar1 is an array of column numbers)
- if cell(i, ar3(j)) = 0, delete row i and shift 1 up
(ar3 is another array of column numbers)
Etc.
The problem is that, when I run it, I get a "Type Mismatch" error message, and I don't understand why. Here is the

As shown in the below image. I have some data from A13 to I 13. Currently if I put the cursor on A13 and press DELETE button then all the formatting from A13 to I13 goes off. But the data still remain there.
Is it possible then when I press DELETE the content of A13 then all the data from B13 to I13 should also get deleted ?

I have a excel sheet with 3 columns. In column B and C there is either a number, or empty. If both for instance B1 and C1 is empty, i want A1 to automatically be filled in with the number 1. If there is value in one of them, then i dont want anything in column A.
