i need vba to automate counting the number of nonblank cells in a colum.
i may be in a diffrent colum each time i run this so i need it to be dynamic in that sense i need to store the result as a variable once i have the result.
i have a feeling the best way to do this would be to calculate it in the bottom most cell.
but i am unsure how to make (C:C) dynamic =65536-(COUNTBLANK(C:C))
The issue with this is that p-ab have a function in it looking up another sheet, and if theres an error is brings back nothing. But, it seems that the match function feels that if there is a function in the cell, that cell is not really blank. Whats the best way to get around this???
Example
Row O has Index Match Function coming up as "Unscanned" | Row P has a lookup function bringing back ""| Row Q has the Value im looking for as "Scanned"
I'm currently working on an excel project for work, to replace our production tracking to something more current (anything is better than pen and paper!). I am in charge of keeping track of cases of product made on our shift: product code, flavour, bag size, current shift scheduled #s, next shift scheduled #s, total scheduled #s, produced (on our shift), and product on hold. For the most part, I've achieved to get all of it working, but I want to take it one step further, where it is completely automated.
Normally during the dayshift, we will receive an attainment report from the scheduler, and on this schedule, it lists out what amts are scheduled for each code, for the next 3 shifts. We would then manually write down each product code running on our shift, how much we're scheduled to run on our shift, and the next shift. Before the end of our shift, we would write up another production sheet for the afternoon shift, and the afternoon shift would do the same for the midnight shift, and again for dayshift until the scheduler revised the attainment report.
My file consists of 5 worksheets: Days, Afternoons, Midnights, Product, Schedule Days, Afternoons, Midnights will be where production data is stored throughout each shift. Product holds records for each type of product we produce. Schedule holds the scheduled #s for each product scheduled to run for the next 3 shifts.
So finally getting to the point, I would like to check the Schedule worksheet, column C for any non-blank cells, and copy the corresponding product code to the dayshift worksheet starting at A3, and the same for column F for afternoons, and column I for midnights.
There will be anywhere from 1 to 5 values in each of these columns, but not successively. There will be several blank cells inbetween these nonblank cells, which I need stacked neatly into the first five rows at the top of the worksheet.
Example:
(A10) - Apples (A17) - Oranges (A23) - Peaches (A38) - Some other fruit of your choice...
(B14) - Toyota (B21) - Honda (B44) - Mercury...........
I have a pretty big worksheet (230 columns x over a thousand rows). Any given column might have 3-4 nonblank cells; the rest are blank. What I want to do for each column is obtain the address of each nonblank cell, then grab the contents of the corresponding cell in the B column and concatenate the results. In the attached example, I want to put the function in d2, and the expected result would be ar 001, fc 001, hw 003.
I've got a problem with one of my macros. This code should import a text file. The name of the imported file is the same as the value of the cell that is active the moment the macro starts. The way I've written it, the code can't find the needed text file.
When I try to insert a row, Excel displays the warning "cannot shift nonblank cells off the worksheet". I understand what the warning means but there are no nonblank cells at the bottom of my worksheet! Just to be sure, I have selected the bottom-most rows, cleared them, deleted them, and everything else I can think of. The warning still appears.
Simply need a cell to count another cell is equal to certain value.
For example if B3 has a value of 6 then I need J3 to equal 1 or if B3 is equal to 3 than I need G3 to equal one. I tried the the COUNTIF but I am sure i am using it incorrectly.
I have setup a formula with an if statment, so if a cell on another sheet = a certian txt then my sheet A will equal a certian txt, But the problem is i also need to count the cells that contain txt on sheet A, but when i setup a CountA Formula on sheet A it counts the cells with Formula's in then is there a way to only count the result and not include the counting of formula's?
I'm trying to find out if there is a way to count a specific number from a cell that has multiple numbers in the cell. I have attached a worksheet.
Example, on the attached worksheet, I want to count how many 16's in column C and input that total number into G18. Then I want G19 to tell me how many 17's in Column C, then how many 18's in G20 and so on. I want to do this for all days in a month, 1 through 31. If there are no numbers, then "0" or a blank cell is ok. Not to concerned with zero's.
I've found a # of threads on this subject but have been unable to find the function I need.
I've got a spreadsheet (attached) to calculate vacation time, but I can't figure out how to make the used time reset on an anniversay date. For example, if Employee 1 has earned 80 hours of vacation but only used 40 by his 4 year anniversary date, how do I make unused time roll back to 80 the day of his anniversary?
Here's the structure: 2 Personal days given Jan. 1, then 2 more on July 1 to employees here at least 6 months. Those whose 6 months fall after or between are awarded 2 days on their anniversary then accrue as normal. Unused personal days are lost at the end of the year. Vacation time is 40 hours after 1 year, 80 hours at 3 yrs, then 120 hours at 5+.
I am after the formula to count the occurrence of, for instance the word 'the' in a sentence/paragraph that is contained in Cell A1. Cell B1 should return the quantity of times the word 'the' has been found in Cell A1.
I want the formula to count the different numbers in the second column based on the first column. The results should show, 972 equals 3, 214 equals 1, 765 equals 2.
I am trying to separate this out but it keeps putting this paragraph.
I am designing a spreadsheet for my colleagues and I have run into a problem. Range U16 tu U and the first blank row has values TRUE or FALSE. The problem is you will never know if it's U16:U21 or U16:U90. The thing is to come up with a formula (no vba) that will count all TRUE values in that range. I found a formula on the internet to find the first blank column: =MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(ISBLANK(U16:U300),0,0),0) + 16 - 1
The formula works great and if I put it in, say, cell P2 it will return the correct result.
Now, the cell K2 has the following formula: =COUNTIF(U16:U300,TRUE). It Counts incorrectly. I do not want it to run to U300 but to whatever P2 returns. How can I do this?
B17 is a keyword to be found in the Product_Keywords range
I'd like to modify it so that:
ifthe cell in the range Product_Keywords also includes "," thendivide the sumproduct by the number of commas+1
Presumably I could add --(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(",",Product_Keywords) as one of the conditions, but how would I keep track of the number of commas in the cell?
I want is a field (e.g Large Parts Used) where I can enter in a number, then basically this number is subtracted from current stock field for Large Parts so I get an updated field of current stock on hand.
But what I want to do is once I've entered the number in the Large Parts used field, I can then clear that field but have the corresponding Current stock field to maintain what was last enetered.
E.g
Large Parts Current Stock = 50
(enter in) Large Parts Used = 2
Large Parts Current Stock = 48
(Clear field where 2 was entered into Large Parts used) (Field still stays at Large Parts Current Stock = 48 although field where 2 was entered was cleared, so need it to save the information so can continually clear and re-enter amounts and have the stock continue to reduce)
going down are stores a, b, c, d.... what i'm filing in across is the square feet of each store and what quartr or year each store came into place. so there will either be a 0 or a number Now, I want to be able to count the number of nhew stores each quarter. how do i create a formula that just recognizes it the first time there is a number and not a zero... because i will put the square feet in subsequent quarters after it opens so i can see yearly how many square feet the store had. then also, how can create a button on the page that will say quarterly numbers and a button that is annual. so that i can hide the quarterly columns and just see an annual spreadsheet... and for the quarterly button so i can hide the annuals and just see the quarters....
I am trying to come up with a formula that will count everything excluding 1 in one row, while looking at another row to determine the group. The attached example explains things a lot better.
I am going to have 2 formulas. 1 for the "Big" group and one for the "Small" The formula needs to look first at the column that has the group in it. Then it needs to count everything is column A excluding "Snake" And return the value.
I have a transactional data set with a line for each transaction and I am looking to count the number of documents (each contains multiple transactions) against criteria.....
It looks something like this.....
Column A Column B Document No Category 11000001 A 11000002 B 11000003 B 11000002 A 11000001 A
Is there anyway to do this without subtotalling for each document and then a count?
I have been using the wrong formula to count total entries in columns and only just found this error. The MAX formula in cell B4 is: =MAX($B$12:$B$36). If the all the rows are full within range F12:F36, then the MAX formula is fine to count the total within range B12:B36 (25) so I thought. But sometimes there are omissions between F12:F36. If there are 2 blank cells anywhere within F12:F36 for example, then B4 needs to show 23 respectively. In the sample WkBk B4 needs to show 8
I have a file where I want to count number of cells where the value is greater than 0. in the attachment, i just want to populate that count below the column indicated therein. So in the example, desired result is two.
I am trying to find out how many weeks our current inventory will support our sales. I am trying to research formulas that will do this, and coming back with things like OFFSET, MATCH, INDEX but am not certain the best way to put them together to get what I need. I use excel daily, but this is a bit mroe advanced than I am used to
Mini.xlsx
Starting in cell B4, I would like to count how many weeks of Demand can be covered by the specific Available On Hands in row 3 for that week, put the number of "Weeks Covered" into cell B2, and then fill over to the right in row 2. Right now, the values in row 2 are from my own manual calculations, but I would like a dynamic formula that will sum up the values in row 4 up to (but not greater than) the value in B3, give the count of cells that reached that sum (or even better with decimals to show the percentage covered), which I will copy over into B3:B13. Not sure if that makes sense, or if I can explain in a better way. The yellow cells are what I am trying to create a formula for and am currently stuck.
I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of document collection.
Column A is document name Column B is department name Column C-N represent quarters of the year. Ie 1st qtr 2012, 2nd qtr 2012 up to 4th qtr 2014
Conditional formatting changes the row to red if the last day of the qtr is less than today showing those documents as past due.
I mark the Cell "Good" if the documents received meet quality checks.
What I would like to do is:
Create a formula showing the present completion percentage by department.
The trouble I'm having is discounting the future cells that aren't applicable until they become past due.
I thought just counting the red cells and green cells but I can't get any of the conditional formatting counting codes to work for me. Tried pearson's CF vba and similar.
In one cell I can get the CFColorIndex to work and pull back the color index but in another cell trying same syntax trying to get the color index of a different cell I get #Value. CountCFColorIndex I just get #Value no matter what I try.
Can I count blank cells in a range if the Qtr ending date is less than today?
Would I have to have a multiple if formula to capture each qtr?
I'm a newbie to these forums, but I had a question that I couldn't find an answer to in the search feature. So, I joined and here I go....
I have a whole lotta data (nearly 600 "pages" of data) that I pasted into Excel. Unfortunately, it's formatted poorly and I'd like to make it nice and purty.
What I started to do was to create a 2nd sheet and then do an "=" and then click the spot with the 'group name' and then another "=" underneath it and then clicked the spot with the 'premium' info, etc.
After a couple of these, I figured that I could simply make a formula to help me out with it. Please see the attached screen captures for some detail on my issue.
Can someone help me create a formula or a way to count a certain cell and then 52 cells underneath it and display it?
In any case, what I have is a set of cells that may or may not be filled, and which frequently get changed around. As I need the data counted in a specific way for "shenanigans", I am... getting quite tired with having to manually adjust this whenever my co-workers decide to adjust something (and I have been told that throwing bricks at them until they stop is not a valid option).
Basically, I want to count the cells in a way so that for every time a cell is filled, a counter repeats the previous number before continuing the sequence.
I.e
Dog 1
Rat 1
[code]....
My issue is that I have no idea how to get this to count right. I know the theory of how I want this to work, but I just have no idea how to get it to function. The logic of how I want it to count is below, but, again, I just have no idea how to go about getting it to work right without manually typing in the counter, and without ending up with the code working wrongly when there's two filled cells at the top.
