Postcode In A Cell In Column A Appears In Column B
Jan 30, 2009
I want to see if a value in column A appears in any of the cells in Column B and to give the answer in column C.
I am trying to match postcodes, so I want to see if a postcode in a cell in column A appears in column B. I am aware the IF function will see if it appears in the cell in the ajoining row but I need to select the whole column dataset.
And it works as I need it to returning the value that appears the most from L31 to L6621. My problem is the number of rows will continue to change. So I tried something like this
Sub ARBM() Dim lr With ActiveSheet
[Code].....
But I get a compile error with expected end of statement. How else can I write this?
I need to populate sheet 1 of the spreadsheet attached.
I have tried several formula's but don't work and am getting desperate!
I need to count Column A of sheet2, when "Adverse SEN" occurs but only when there is an "x" in Column B of sheet 2 appears next to "Adverse SEN".
So basically i need to populate Sheet1 of the spreadsheet with the data is sheet2 of the spreadsheet.
I need a formula to calculate how many time an adverse SEN was - where there is an x - resubmitted, approved at meeting, delegate approval obtained, approval outstanding, rejected or approval not required.
I am using excel 2003, so please don't provide me countif functions.
Im trying to construct a nested Countif statement. I need to count the number of instances that "Project" appears in Column O AND "TS" in Column N. The range is in another in Sheet2. and the summary in Sheet 1 where I want to have the Countif(AND...??? statement Example Counif(Sheet 1 Column 0 contains "Project" AND if Column N Contains "TS"
In Column Q I have a list of products. In column E these products are listed a number of time (depends on the number of regions which may change). What I am looking to do is have column A show "1" the first time the item group is in the list, "2" the second time...up to 12. Basically I'm looking to have a month (#1-12) appear in column A next to the item. If there are 3 regions then then each item will appear in the column E list 3 times. I'd like each group of 3 items to have a "1" the first time they appear, "2" the second...etc.
When I hide a column in this spreadsheet, text appears in some of the cells that shouldn't be there. When I highlight and try to delete, it won't delete and it doesn't even show up in the function bar. I was able to get it to delete when I do clear, all from the edit menu but as soon as I try formating the cell, it puts it right back. Same text, same formatting. I can't get rid of it.
I was wondering if it is possible to delete rows if a value appears only 1 time in a column? To clarify since 123 only appears once in column A I want the entire row 4 deleted.
If I have columns A-F and the 1st time a number appears in that row I want to know the column number, so if the first time a number appears in column 'C' I want it to return 3.
I have a few spreadsheets with a few land transactions. I want to see if the parties involved are male or female, or both (in case of joint titles). And how many. I've tried to use ISNUMBER formulas and COUNTIF formulas but I can't seem to make them work. I've attached an example of what I need to do, the original has many more column with more info, and the names are in a different language which makes it easier to identify as female or not (like 'phany' in english female names etc).
I have a two ranges of columns containing names. I need to count how many times a specific name appears in ColumnN - Easy enough =COUNTIF(N$2:N$1047,Q3) ...Q3 being the name I am looking for.
Now comes the part I am stuck on. I need to count how many times a name appears in ColumnK but only if there is no name in ColumnN.
I tried =IF(COUNTIF(N3:N1047,""),COUNTIF(K2:K1047,T3),)
I want to count how many times a particular text appears in Column A depending on the number times another text appears in Column B.
Say for example if I have in Column A {A, B, C, D}nd column B I have {AA,BB,CC) and if I want to check how many times column A has "A" value when the column B has "CC" value, then how should I proceed with this ?
Right now, I'm trying to find a way to count the number of times a certain phrase appears in a column.
I'm currently using this formula for exact values: COUNTIF(A1:A5,"Hello"), but this only works if an entry in a column is exactly: "Hello"
I want to be able to count a column even if it has more words, such as "Hello how are you" etc., and this column would be counted because it has the word "hello" in it.
Is there a macro to delete an entire row if a duplicate entry appears only in a certain column.
1. Look for the column header with the name "File Number" 2. Anytime the same number under the "File Number" column appears more than once in that column, keep the row that contains first occurrence of that number buy delete the entire row anytime that number is repeated in another row in that same column.
This is regardless of what is contained in the other columns. For example..let's say these cells contained this data...
In this case, I would want to keep rows 1, 2, and 3. But, I would want to delete rows 4 & 5 because the number "UTE00225" has already appeared first in B1. I'm using Excel 2003.
I am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.
I have a single work book with 8 sheets (I am using Excel 2010 BTW) and I am trying to find a total of times a word appears across all the sheets in column "C"
I found this formula on another thread. =SUM(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("Sheet"&{1,2,3}&"!C1:C1000"),"="&H3)) with an example. I made the changes that I needed for my purposes
This worked but only after I renamed the sheets to Sheet1, Sheet2, etc.
Is there a way get the same results from the above formula if all the sheets are named after our reps? Example: sheet1 is named Dan, Sheet2 is Nick, etc?
Formula to show the final/total a numeric values appears in an adjacent column.
I am currently attempting (I've researched many posts on this), to count /show the final totals a duplicate numeric value appears in one column, in an adjacent column (example below).
I am currently using an array Frequency formula below (courtesy of the board) filled down in column Q. this works well to count the frequency of duplicate numeric values appear on the list.
Formula used in Column Q below {=IF(C2>=0.1,MAX(FREQUENCY(IF(C2:$C$1000=C2,ROW(C4:$C$1000)),IF(C2:$C$1000C4,ROW(C2:$C$1000),""))))}
However my aim is also to show the final entry of a numeric value in adjacent column R, by displaying text to indicate this. My example below shows “final” in column R
NB: My list is sorted by column C to ensure all numeric values are in ascending order.
Example Column C Column QColumn R 12567 1 final 15789 1 15789 2 15789 3 final 23456 1 23456 2 final 12678 1 final 18965 1 18965 2 final
I've been searching the forums for this problem but I can't seem to find any answers. Anyway, this is the problem. See screenshot.
I want to compare A1 for the values in column B, then return the corresponding cell (column C) in column D. e.g. D1 = 2, D2 = 1, D3 = 4, D4 = 5 and D5 = 3.
I have a very large spread sheet of about 20,000 rows. I need to output to a cell postcode ranges based on the Zone. Not all the numbers in the postcode zones are consecutive.
For the example below, the output cell for the DWN range would display like this: 0800-0801, 0804, 0810-0813
Each output cell postal range must be specific to each zone.
Is there anyway to do this without manually doing it? I would like to tell you I've tried this and that but I've never done anything like this before so I really don't know where to start.
Excel 2007.I have a list of postcodes (UK) which have different lengths of characters (including spaces) from 6-8, however our system seems to add additional spaces inbetween the postcode, so it could have upto 11/12 characters (inc spaces) Below is what could come out:
What I need is a formula to ensure each postcode only has 8 characters by inserting spaces between if there's less than 8 char and trimming if there's more than 8 char
So from the above postcodes the desired results would be:
EH21 6PQ - 1 Space (8 Char) - This would be correct EH12 9HG - 3 Spaces (10 Char) - Trim off 2 spaces from the middle E1 8DF - 3 Spaces (8 Char) - This would be correct LL5 1GH - 2 Spaces (8 Char) - This would be correct L5 1FG - 1 Space (6 Char) - Insert 2 spaces in the middle
Please see the attached sheet. I have columns B through a lot (B through O in my oversimplified example). In every 7th row in each of these columns there is either a 1 or a blank/zero. I need to multiply that 7th number by the Quantity in column A, to achieve a total (ie the sum of each result of 7th cell*quantity) for each column in the bottom row, labeled "Totals".
In the actual version of my sheet, there are far too many rows to select everything manually. I've been fiddling with combinations of COUNTIF/COUNTA and OFFSET, but I haven't come up with a way to check for the 1 in every 7th row, THEN multiply that 1 by the quantity in column A, THEN add up the results for each column. As you can see, there are 1's elsewhere in the columns that are irrelevant to this particular calculation, so something like LOOKUP would also have to look in every 7th cell and couldn't just look at the column as a whole.
If you can't provide an immediate solution, but can at least point me to a resource that would allow me to devise a way to isolate every 7th row (THAT part is the sticking point), I'll surely post the solution to my own thread with updated keywords if I need it.
I've a worksheet that is 3750 rows of cells from A to DT and contains only numbers with the exception of a header row. The rows are in groups, primarily 4 rows, although there are exceptions - these rows are separated by blank rows. Small example as follows.
I have been trying to conditionally format each group of rows and each column and color the cell in each column of four (or less) numbers in each group that represents the maximum number. It was easy enough to come up with the conditional formatting BUT it will take forever to do this manually. I've been told to use a macro but I know nothing of programming. Has anyone seen or heard of a macro that might already be written to perform this onerous task.
I am looking for a Macro that will search a column for blank cells, and when one is found will add text to the same row in another column. For example: The below is a spreadsheet. I am trying to find something that will search through column "C" in this case and add text (of my choice) to Column "A" if the cell is Blank. So Since cell C1 is Blank then Type "ERROR" is cell A1.
A B C D E 1 X X X X 2 X X X X 3 X X X X X 4 X X X X 5 X X X X
I was wondering, is there a function that would take, lets say, every 4th cell value from a column and create another column consisting of every 4th number ?
