I have a file with list of names in the attched file.They are not in the same format coming from the source in my company. I need only the names in the separete column without the dates and the commas. The text is not in the same format. Looking at the data, can someone help me make a formula to separate only the names from the the entry.

I've found several posts but none seem to peform this varying function:

EX12345678....Result in Col B: "EX" and Result in Col C: "12345678"
RTZZ4567.......Result in Col B: "RTZZ" and Result in Col C: "4567"

The problem with the formulas I've got specifically define - pulling let's say LEFT, 2 characters.....when, I may need it to pull 2 or 3 or 4. I found something that's smart enough to look for ONLY ALPHA and strip those out and place them into one column. =LEFT(A1,MIN( FIND({0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9},A1&"0123456789"))-1)

* I need something that's smart enough to look for ONLY NUMERIC. no matter how long the string is...and place those in Column C (like I mention in the example at the top).

Extract Data By Type To Separate Workbooks

I have created a workbook for a co-worker. The way it works is data comes from an outside source with customer names in Column A and their Account Reps in Column H. This data is pasted into a template that I created with a very simple macro recording that filters on each Account Rep and is copied and pasted each into a different workbook. Then I had to go through each workbook (because of the info being sensitive) and create a macro that deletes the unwanted data because when the data is pasted it transfers all of the data and you can unfilter to see the full sheet.

I know there is a better way to extract data on each change in column H into a new workbook. Does anyone know how to do that? Another issue is the original data is not very clean so there are blank rows in the list. For Example:

what i am trying to do is look at an entire column, and see if that same date exists in the other Activity tab, if the dates match, then show the activity

here is the formula i am using, =IF($A9=Activity!$A2,Activity!$B2,"No Activity")

my problem is that i am only able to isolate one of the cells,, how do i check the entire column?

VLookup To Find The Customer And The Dates And Then Bring Me Back An Asterisk In A Separate Column

I have 2 spreadsheets. One is a promotion calendar that lists the dates that promotions on a certain product runs. The other is a shipment grid of shipments of that product to the customer.

I want VLookup to find the customer and the dates and then bring me back an asterisk in a separate column to show me that that certain week that product was delivered was a promotion week. The problem I have is using Vlookup to lookup 2 things at once (and if they match to the promotion calendar) and return me an asterisk.

Here is my formula now:

=IF(VLOOKUP(J2&" "&L2,'East Data'!M:AU,2,FALSE),"*",0)

J2 is the customer name
L2 is the week
"East Data" is the spreadsheet with all of the promotions and customers.

How To Extract Dates From Cells And List Them Seperately In A New Tab?

I have set up a 'week of' calendar for a year. This allows users to enter data in a cell for the week. For example, the today would be displayed on the calendar, the 11th.

What I would like is, in a separate tab, to list (in list format) only dates with data entered.

How can I write a formula that checks a cell, and displays the data, but if there is no data, it goes to the next cell (to the right). In the new tab, I would like the data to be listed top to bottom even though the calendar is left to right.

It would also be cool if in a separate column in the new tab to display the date, but im not sure how because the calendar isn't of actual dates, but of a few cells on the top with the month, and the actual number is in the cell.

Right now I have this as a start, but it's not much...

=IF(Category!C11>"",Category!C11,"")

Payroll Extract To Work Only On Certain Pay Period Dates.

I currently have an Excel payroll extract that populates a start date and end date via the calender control 11 user form.

What I have found out is I need to inject some sanity to this application. I can not have users select days that are outside of a pay period.

The users should only be able to select the first or the 16th of the month for a pay period start. Then they can only select the 15th or the 28th/31st for the pay period end.

What I am trying to do is have them select the month and the pay period start date, then the end date would automaticly be selected. But I don't want to have to create a bunch of loops to counter for the differing month end dates or leap years.

I need to separate row data from one workbook into separate workbooks based on cell data. Currently I filter the data, copy and paste it to a new workbook and save it. It's a tedious process and was hoping to find a way to automate it. I have attached a sample file. In this instance, I would like a separate workbook for the filtered data in Column 1 and then all the row data gets copied to new workbook. So all of Pennsylvania data would get copied to new workbook, then all of the Michigan data gets copied to a new workbook. I have also attached an example of the end result that I need.

Separate Workbook By Value In Column Into Separate Workbooks

I have 10 very large workbooks that are all setup in the same format. In column Z is a numerical value from 1 to 83. I have been trying to filter the sheet and then copy one at a time from 1 to 83 but that takes a LONG time especially when there is 10 workbooks to do.

Is there anyway I can run a function or macro or something that would just automatically look down the column Z and put each row into a it's own workbooks?

Creating Separate Reports In Separate Spreadsheets

I have a giant data sheet. I have to cherry pick certain data out of the list and send it to certain associates, in a new spreadsheet.

I want to do this automatically.

I can create the macro to select the data I want, and copy it over (values only), but I cannot find out how to do it in a new sheet with a new name that automatically gets generated with a unique filename (probably using the date).

Essentially, I want to copy my data spreadsheet (post-filter) into a new spreadsheet titled X mm-dd (where X is whatever I pick). I then want to delete several rows from it.

Ideally, the macro would do this (I will put a * next to things I can handle the code for, to save work):Filter Data *
Copy Data *
Create a New Spreadsheet named (Person's Name) mm-dd.xls
Paste Data (values, formats, column widths) to the new spreadsheet *
Delete Several Columns from the new spreadsheet *
Rename the sheet it's been pasted to
Re-filter data (new filter) *
Copy Data *
Paste Data (values, formats, column widths) to the same spreadsheet, only Sheet 2 *
Set the header of the spreadsheet with (Person's Name) and the date
Save the new spreadsheet

There will be as few as 1 sheet (in which case I would only want one worksheet in the new excel file), or as many as 4 sheets. I don't need a fancy way to do this, as it will only be done once a week, and I can just make the various cases required to do it even if it isn't pretty, but I can't figure out how to manipulate other files that haven't been created yet...

Formula That Adds Two Separate Cells If Third Cell Has Certain Value Into Another Cell

I'm working on a spreadsheet that includes items I sell as well as the packaging it goes in.

The formula I'm looking for basically will tell a cell that if one cell (# of box) is equal a certain # it will add two separate cells by the weight of the box.

I have cells for each of the following: Weight in lb and weight in oz of the item (no box), a cell which holds the number of the box (ranging from 1-15) and two cells with weight in lb and weight in oz which would be the total weight of the item + box.

So, for example, if weight of item equals 1 and box cell equals 2 then it will put the weight of item + weight of box into a third cell.

Basically, I would like to do something such as if P3 = 5, then Q3 will equal N3 + U6 and R3 will equal O3 + V6.

I could simply find them manually and make them negative, but the logic needed in this question will help me with similar problems I am facing.

I have a string that has an IP that doesn't follow a fixed length.

Eg:

seperate that IP and the String. I tried the below formula =REPLACE(A2,MIN((FIND({"M","E","S"},A2))),0,"?")

It works fine for the above examples, but i want a formula that can seperate the string after the IP ranging from A-Z or a-z

getting any formula so that i can determine atleast the position of the First Letter(A-Z,a-z) from left.
