VBA - Filter On Next Line In Autofilter Dropdown List
Oct 16, 2008
if anyone knows some VBA code to filter on the next line down in an autofilter list.
My spreadsheet has a column with the names of people, which can appear multiple times in no particular order.
I have a macro that I run several times -- once for each individual in the column. The way that I currently do this is by manually using the autofilter on that column to select a person from the autofilter dropdown list. After I've manually filtered on a person, I click a button which runs the assigned macro. I then manually select the next person in the autofilter list, and click the macro button -- over and over until I've done this for everyone in the autofilter list.
I'd like to add some code at the end of my macro so that the macro ends by automatically filtering on the next person (line) in the autofilter list.
it is possible to have a drop down list (Cell A1) where you can type in the first few letters of a word and have the drop down list go to the the words that begin with those first few letters (searching in column 10) instead of having to scroll down the entire list to find the word / item you are looking for.
I ask since the drop down list may end up having up to 1000 words in it.
How can I get the dropdown list to not include blank cells in the list reguardless if the sort filter is used or not.
Sheet 1 (STATS) is the dropdownlist Cell B12 Sheet 2 (Orders) is the data, I cant convert to tables because the cells are active and storted Column B2: is the data named.
I've created drop-down lists in cells B3 and B4 (this is in worksheet 1), based on a column in Worksheet 2. I'd like Worksheet 2 to autofilter the data based on the drop-downs in B3 or B4, or both together.
I have two sheets open in Excel, the second sheet contains a huge list of data. I am trying to make a workbook that lets any user select from several dropdown lists and in the end, displays the (in this case) recommended material to use (and if possible the 4 best choices). The user will select from dropdown lists what the environment the material will be exposed to, the minimum required temp, and the maximum required temp.
I have a spread sheet that has three sheets, PROJECTS - TIMES - LISTS Time sheet.xlsx PROJECTS contains a list of 'In Progress' and 'completed' projects for work, with relevant other data, I.e. PROJECT No. / STATUS etc This will grow to 1,000's of rows TIMES will contain the amount of time a person spends on a PROJECT on a daily basis. This will grow to 10,000's of rows LISTS contain basic validation list for the first 2 sheets.
Part A I would like to have a validation drop down list for the PROJECT NO column in the TIMES sheet that only lists the PROJECT NO from the PROJECTS sheet where STATUS <> COMPLETED. I.e. I only want to display the PROJECT NO's for current projects.
Part B Even though I only want the PROJECT NO used, can the drop down list also contain other column's data for reference information only before one is selected.
I m trying to use an Autofilter to filter my cells with a Number Filter of is greater of equal to 4 and is less than or equal to 5.
But as you can see I would like to customise is using a range of 2 values which i have specified in Cell P1 and Q1.
I manage to figure out how to reference to this cell, but Im not sure how can i put my ">=" and "<=" operators into my code so i can get it to work exactly how i want as shown in Code 1.
1) This spreadsheet has 7 main sheets, UK, IBE, FIN, BENE, FRA.
2) Each main sheet has 8 sub sheets i.e UK CAT A to H, IBE CAT A to H etc.
3) col BO on the main sheets will have CAT A,B to H and can contain some other text but i'm only concerned about the CAT. Also Cat may be wrote CAT, cat or Cat etc
At the moment i'm using a loop, I had some code from another thread yesterday but this code creates new sheets if it can not find a sheet named the same
I will need to run this as 1 i.e all 7 together or 1 at a time.
How do I filter multiple columns of information with the use of one dropdown arrow?
see the attached picture (jpg.) for a visual representation of exactly what I am trying to achieve. Excel Filtering.jpg
I have also attached an Excel Filtering Example spreadsheet for use in explaining how to create this type of stacking filter. Excel Filtering Example.xlsx
Currently I am using Excel 2000. I did a search and couldn't seem to find the answer I was looking for. Hopefully someone can help. It would be greatly appreciated since I have been trying to figure out how to do this for days.
I am trying to create a worksheet that will pull info from a row on one sheet to another sheet based on the name; then continue to list the info on each line afterward until there is no more of the that particular criteria. See below (this is just an example to simplify the data but would need the same process):
This would be the data on sheet 1:
Name Bonus Commision
Tom $45 $50 Mary $25 $75 Mary $30 $80 Tom $60 $50 Tom $90 $25
What I would like to do is have 2 more sheets. One would be Tom's sheet and the other would be Mary's sheet and it would look like this:
Tom's Sheet:
Tom $45 $50 Tom $60 $50 Tom $90 $25
Mary's Sheet:
Mary $25 $75 Mary $30 $80
I am not completely familiar with all of the functions in Excel and compared to you guys I am a complete novice.
Is this possible to do in Excel without using a macro?
If I had a table of data (say in range A5:D15) and then I autofiltered that table in vba with...
range("A5:D15"). autofilter
Is there any way that I can change the positioning of the autofilter drop down arrows, to row 1 say, rather than the usual row 5 (the top of the table)?
There are multiple duplicates of different part numbers in a column. When I autofilter the column, it shows 1 selection for each part number. I am trying to extract this selection fromm the autofilter dropdown box. I want to use it elsewhere in a dropdown box.
I am trying to use the AutoFilter/Custom function in Excel (it is available under the Data Menu). It offers me two conditions/criteria that I can apply using and/or. For eg:
Filter:
does not begin with - 3
and / or
does not begin with - 9.
I want to add a third 'and' criteria .. is it possible, and if so, how?
The column that I am trying to filter has numbers formatted as text.
I am experinacing some difficulty in using the Autofilter in the attached sheet. The workbook consisits of the following sheets:
Main
Contains a button taht crates data for sheet "Working Data" by filtering and formating data found in Raw Data sheet. The code behind it ain't preetty but it worsk. Raw data
Just as the name implies
Working Data
Filter and formated raw data. After the VB code behind the button on sheet Main runs, I Insert an Autofilter on the coluimns of Working data. on column I ( Length ) I try and filter for rows were the value in column I is >= 35. Nothing shows up. I know this is wrong, just by inspection. I can ask for rows were column I is = 35 and get 1 rows. I can ask for rows were column I is = 45 and get 1 rows. in fact I have Raw Data that comprises about 2000 rows but had to chop it down to meat board size req'ts:>
I am using Excel 2013. I have an autofilter turned on for the columns in the spreadsheet. When I click on the filter button at the top of a column, the filter values do not have any check boxes next to them so I can't check any values. how to fix it so that it has checkboxes? I've attached a screen shot.
using VBA I have a control sheet which summerises variouse counts & totals of data held on a detail sheet. Bu using filters and counting the visable rows.
Statistics on 50 columns of data held in several thousand (rows) mixed around eight business regionsheld in first column.
I could determin the number of affected rows by using Tick boxes on the control sheet and applying filters to the detail records
A) checkbox indicates if I need filtering on the type of data in my detail sheet and apply the filter Selection.AutoFilter Field:=XX, Criteria1:="Y"
B) Because I could not have more than two criteria on an autofilter column I resorted to using Advanced Filter on the column with the Business UNIT's, I Create a range write the criteria of the records to be filtered into the range, then apply an advanced filter using that range.
Both of these work well indevidually, but I am getting inconsistant results when I mix them
using the autofilter route I can select multiple tick boxes and the output is correct, and using the advanced filter I can select any combination of business units and the output is correct, however I cant get them to work together
I have a macro that automatically updates the field value if certain criterias are met. Now the user asked that TYPE be the first column in the spreadsheet. How do I change the last line in my macro to reflect that?
The range has now also changed from "A1:AT1000" to "A1:AG1000" ..
I got the following code from Use AutoFilter to filter and copy the results to a existing worksheet and would like to incorporate this into my VBA project. The problem however is that this code were written to perform on one workbook and this is where my problem is. My project is between two different workbooks and cannot seem to get this code modified to do what it is supposed to do between these two workbooks. Everything I have tried so far failed. In short what this code would do is to check the existing data on the one sheet (the source) and extract only the data which is meeting my set criteria, and copy this data to the destination sheet. This is what I would like to do between two workbooks. With this the sample code as provided by Ron de Bruin. The sample workbook could be accessed trough the following link [URL]..... With this the code for matching and copying on one workbook.
Code: Option Explicit '>> 'This example will copy the filter results below the existing data on the destination sheet. 'Note the sheet "RecordsOfTheNetherlands" must exist in your workbook. 'This example will not copy the header row each time so when you manual add the worksheet '"RecordsOfTheNetherlands" to your workbook you must add the headers yourself on the first row.
I've have and autofilter in the heading of a column that allows me filter on All, NonBlanks, Blanks, Cell Entries, Etc.....But for some reason when I filter on all a number of rows are hidden or the row height is set to 0 and I can't view the cells unless I change the row height.
I've got a Table with 3 columns. (Goods, Amounts, Type). Every column has similar filter. Can I from the second and third filter remove the single item selection (red square below).
how to select, for example, 10 consecutive options that follow each other within the filter drop down box? (instead of individually clicking/checking each option) for example, clicking a cell A1, pressing and holding shift, and clicking cell A10, which highlights cells 1 - 10...
Is something like this possible within a filter drop down box?
I'm trying to add a sorting filter dropdown on some columns in a sheet. If I select the column, then use Data -> Filter, it adds the filter. on that column. But then, if I select another column, the "Filter" button in the tool menu is already selected, even though there is no filter for that column. If I click it, the filter on the other column disappears. Then, clicking it again adds a filter for every single column. It seems I'm not able to select f.ex. 3 different columns and add a filter to only those. It's either all or none. Is this how it's supposed to work?
